It’s time to revisit the 2023 NFL MVP odds, which look drastically different from the start of the season.

A few players have solidified themselves into the MVP conversation, but they’ll need convincing performances in the final weeks to seal the deal.

Hurts was expected to be a top contender this season, but the other two were longshots to win. The current favorite is Brock Purdy, who had a price above +6000 prior to the season start. That goes to show that betting on the NFL MVP is not as easy as it seems.

After the top trio, we have some other big names who could easily jump a few spots up the list within the next few weeks. Lamar Jackson, Tua Tagovailoa, and Patrick Mahomes are in the hunt, and there’s still plenty of time left.

The NFL MVP odds have a lot of value right now, but they’ll continue to change each week. Be sure to place your wagers on whoever you think will win before their price drops even more.

We can certainly make the argument against Purdy, but we might be forgetting one thing; quarterbacks have a massive advantage when it comes to the NFL MVP. If all he does is keep the 49ers moving right along, it could be enough to win the award.

San Francisco is also a team that has their eyes on the Super Bowl. Make sure you know how to bet on the Super Bowl if you think Purdy can take them all the way.

Patrick Mahomes is coming off an exceptional season to say the least. He led the Chiefs to a Super Bowl victory and also took home the MVP.

Mahomes ranks eighth in passing yards and fifth (tied) in passing touchdowns. He also has the fourth-most interceptions with 10, and the Chiefs are scoring 22.9 points per game (tied for 11th).

His numbers are still better than most, but this is a step down from what we usually see. Mahomes is averaging 260.4 passing yards per game, which is 23.6 yards less than his career low.

If he wants any chance of winning the award again, he’ll have to kick things up a notch. The thing is, Mahomes is more than capable of going nuclear down the stretch. His slow start has also given his odds a ton of value at +700.

It might seem foolish to ever doubt Mahomes’ abilities, but we have to make sure we are doing our due diligence for every player here.

Mahomes makes for a fine NFL MVP pick, but history tells us that it’s pretty uncommon for a player to win back-to-back awards.

The last player to do so was Peyton Manning in 2003 and 2004. Mahomes would likely have to top his performance from last season. He threw for 5,250 passing yards and 41 touchdowns last year, so the bar is already unbelievably high.

With just five games to go, Mahomes likely won’t have enough time to eclipse last year’s totals.

This MVP race is far from over. Purdy is the top dog right now, but you get more money betting on someone else.

The 2023 NFL MVP odds have loads of value, so let’s look at two other top contenders that could beat out Purdy.

Dak Prescott is another player with a high chance of winning the MVP.

The NFL MVP betting odds on some sites have him as a co-favorite along with Purdy. Dallas has been on fire these last few weeks, and a lot of it is because of their quarterback.

From Week 8 to 13, Prescott has 21 total touchdowns, 1,901 passing yards, and just two interceptions. No other QB has more than 12 touchdowns during that span.

Dallas is riding a four-game winning streak, but their next four games are going to be tough. If Prescott can put together big performances against the Eagles, Bills, Dolphins, and Lions, he can win the MVP.

Philadelphia has the league’s best record after Week 13 at 10-2. Jalen Hurts has been a big contributor to a lot of their success. The quarterback has 3,425 total yards and has scored a remarkable 31 times this year.

Apparently, Roger Goodell wants to remove the “Tush Push” play, but that won’t happen this year.

Hurts runs the play to perfection and he will continue to do so. The Eagles have a lot of success in short yardage situations, whether it’s in the red zone or on third down.

If Philadelphia’s quarterback keeps stacking together touchdowns and wins, it’ll be hard to see someone else getting the award. BetOnline is offering Hurts at +550, while other sites are under +400.

Brock Purdy was a longshot coming into this season, and there’s still time for another sleeper to make their case for the MVP. It’s riskier betting on a longshot, but the potential payouts make it worth it.

There are a lot of great players out there, but my favorite three sleepers for the MVP include Lamar Jackson, Tyreek Hill, and C.J. Stroud.

Jackson doesn’t have great counting stats, but he’s led the Ravens to an impressive 9-3 record. They sit as the second best team in the AFC and their quarterback is a big reason why.

I don’t advise betting on non-QBs, but if anyone’s going to win it this year, it would be Tyreek Hill. He’s on pace to break the NFL record for receiving yards in a single season with over 2,000.

CJ Stroud is going to work himself into the MVP conversation! This team was supposed to be a few years away from contending! He is elevating those around him. Noah Brown 6 Rec. 150yards.

C.J. Stroud has all but locked up the Offensive Rookie of the Year award, and he should be in MVP discussions as well. The Tank Dell injury is a bummer, but Stroud looks to be the next big thing.

Some sites have Stroud around +2000, but BetOnline has him at +5000.

Only two NFL MVPs have missed the playoffs. I doubt this would happen again, just because you need to have a remarkable season to win the MVP. If you do have an incredible season, there’s a high chance you helped your team make the playoffs.

It’s also hard to justify a player winning the award when their team didn’t perform well. To be safe, make sure you are betting on a quarterback that will help his team make the playoffs.

It’s not going to be easy to make your 2023 NFL MVP pick. You might feel confident in the player you ultimately decide to bet on, but there’s a good chance you are completely wrong. One thing you can attempt to do is to predict the next big thing.

Obviously, Patrick Mahomes is going to have a great season, barring a disaster. But as I mentioned earlier, his standards are incredibly high. Not only that, but his betting odds don’t have nearly as much value as other picks.

So, what should you do? If you are able to correctly predict the next breakout QB in the NFL, you very well could win your bet. Last year was Jalen Hurts, who might have won with +2500 odds had it not been for his late season injuries.
