The 2023 Tour de France odds suggest we’ll see a real battle between Jonas Vingegaard and Tadej Pogacar for the No. 1 spot on the podium at Champs-Élysées in Paris on July 23rd.

Still, you need to keep in mind that even the best sports betting sites don’t always get it right when it comes to figuring out the top Tour de France favorites.

The evidence is that the main favorite won only twice in the last five French Grand Tour race editions. Nevertheless, my 2023 Tour de France prediction is that we won’t see a major upset this time.

In fact, I’m almost 100% certain that one of the top two favorites will pass the finish line before everyone else.

There’s a big discrepancy regarding the odds for the 2023 Tour de France.

There are two top favorites – Jonas Vingegaard (+155) and Tadej Pogacar (+158) with very similar odds at MyBookie, while all the other riders have odds of +2000 or longer.

In simple terms, this means that the oddsmakers are almost certain that one of those two favorites will triumph in Paris on July 23.  I must admit that I agree with MyBookie’s Tour de France betting odds.

Vingegaard and Pogacar fully deserve to be thought of as main favorites.

If you agree, why not back both? Let’s say you put $100 on each of them; you’ll make a profit of at least $55 if either of them wins.

The short answer is yes. You should bet on the two riders with the shortest odds to win the 2023 Tour de France.

Jonas Vingegaard (+155) is the No. 1 favorite, which is no surprise as he’s the reigning Tour de France champion. He won the general classification and the polka dot jersey for the mountains classification in 2022.

Last year’s Tour win remains the biggest achievement of his career, but the Danish rider shows no signs of slowing down. Since the start of 2023, he’s already achieved a lot, winning the Tour of the Basque Country and finishing third at Paris-Nice.

Vingegaard is the top 2023 Tour de France favorite at the moment, but I suspect Tadej Pogacar might take over his place within the next couple of weeks.

The 24-year-old Slovenian rider is the next big thing in pro cycling. Actually, he’s already one of the best cyclists on the planet (if not the very best one!).

Plus, this guy just loves riding in France. He’s a two-time Tour de France winner who finished second last year, passing the finish line two minutes and 43 seconds after Vingegaard.

Enric Mas Nicolau is third on the 2023 Tour de France favorites list, but his odds are +2000. That’s way too long to consider him a serious contender.

You may consider him a sleeper, but I doubt he will do much in France this July.

I do, however, have some sleeper bets in mind. There are a couple of riders that have what it takes to at least get on the podium. The best thing is that their 2023 French Open odds are lucrative.

Tao Geoghegan Hart and Geraint Thomas got a place in the Ineos Grenadiers team in the 2023 Giro D’Italia. What this means is that both might skip the second Grand Tour event of the year.

And even if they get to ride in France, they will probably have a supporting role, helping Richard Carapaz get a decent finish.

The Belgian rider is an expert when it comes to one-day races. His plan for 2023 is to win a “big fish” in classics, but we could also see him do well in the French Grand Tour.

I predict he will win at least a couple of individual stages in July, but I’m not positive he can win the general classification.

Still, knowing that his odds on Tour de France are +8000, I just cannot miss this bet.

The 2023 Tour de France will last from July 1st until July 23rd. That’s more than three weeks of cycling, during which the riders need to cover a distance of 2,115 miles (3,404 kilometers).

Knowing this, it’s only logical to assume that the standings in the general classification are going to fluctuate on a day-to-day basis.

Let’s say Tadej Pogacar starts slow – last year; he won his first state on Day 5 – his 2023 Tour de France winner odds are bound to lengthen.

If that happens, you should use the top online gambling apps to bet on the 2023 Tour de France. Apart from backing Pogacar, you can do the same for Vingegaard if his odds go up.

Jonas Vingegaard or Tadej Pogacar – it’s really a coin toss when it comes to who will win the 2023 Tour de France.
