  • The 2023 Leagues Cup odds suggest Club America (+900) is most likely to win the tournament.
  • Los Angeles FC is the second favorite to win, as they were the champions of last year’s MLS Cup.
  • Lionel Messi is set to play for Inter Miami, so backing “The Herons” might not be a bad idea.

The 2023 Leagues Cup starts on Friday, July 21st, and you all should be super excited about it. Why? Because Lionel Messi is supposed to make his Inter Miami debut in this tournament!

But will his arrival have an immediate impact on “The Herons?” Not according to top betting sites – Inter Miami’s 2023 Leagues Cup odds are +1200 at the moment of writing.

Still, they were way longer when published initially, suggesting that a significant amount of money is being wagered on this team to win the trophy.

The trouble is that 47 other teams are participating in this tournament – 29 from the MLS and 18 from the Mexican Liga MX – so Messi & Co. are guaranteed to have a hard time.

The No. 1 favorite based on the 2023 Leagues Cup odds is Mexico’s most successful soccer team, Club America.

Priced at +900 at most soccer betting sites, “Las Aquilas,” a.k.a. “The Eagles,” are the only team with the 2023 Leagues Cup odds coming in the form of a three-figure number.

Just behind them is Los Angeles FC, the winner of last year’s MLS Cup, which wasn’t too impressive in 2023. This explains why LAFC’s League Cup odds are +1100.

Nevertheless, those odds are shorter than those of Tigres UANL, Monterrey, and Inter Miami, each priced at +1200.

Inter Miami’s odds were significantly longer when they were published initially. However, after it became clear that Lionel Messi would debut in this tournament, bookies shortened them.

There are now some online sportsbooks where Inter Miami’s odds are as short as +1000.

Obviously, that’s not too bad, but if you’re going to back Messi & Co., you want to do it at a platform offering a better price.

So, which betting site has the highest odds for Inter Miami winning the 2023 Leagues Cup? That would be BetUS, whose whose odds you can see in the table above.

BetUS offers welcome bonuses to new gamblers, and it’s an entirely reputable sportsbook. You can read our BetUS review to learn more or head to the site to place your bets.

Why Club America Is the Betting Favorite

With the Leagues Cup odds shorter than +1000, Club America is the top favorite to win the trophy.

There are several reasons why bookies have faith in these guys, starting with the fact that this is the most valuable team in North America.

Its value is roughly $85 million, according to Transfermarkt, which is almost $10 million more than the value of Inter Miami with Lionel Messi (and Sergio Busquets) on the roster.

This team’s most valuable player is Julian Quinones, who’s set to make his debut in the Leagues Cup.

Still, Club America’s most important player is the team captain Henry Martin who’s widely considered to be the best Mexican striker in 2023.

“The Eagles” are also great in the center of the pitch, with their only weakness being their defense. And that could pose a serious problem for them if they end up playing against Lionel Messi this summer.

Top 2023 Leagues Cup Contenders

There are 10 teams with odds between +1000 and +2000, but only two can be considered serious contenders to win the 2023 Leagues Cup. Those are, namely, Los Angeles City FC and Inter Miami.

I will examine their League Cup betting odds and analyze their chances of lifting the trophy on August 19.

Los Angeles City FC (+1100)

Being the reigning MLS champion, this team gets to start its 2023 Leagues Cup journey in the round of 32. This means that Steve Cherundolo’s men will have two games fewer to play than others. The same goes for Pachuca, but I doubt it will matter much.

Bookies have every right to consider LAFC one of the top candidates for the title, as this team’s got some exceptional players on the roster.

The trouble is that they haven’t been showing it much in 2023. Their performances in the 2023 MLS have been somewhat bleak, but that can change easily.

Inter Miami (+1200)

Lionel Messi is the GOAT of soccer, and having him on the roster means you have the right to dream big. But it’s not just about Messi when it comes to Inter Miami. Former Barcelona captain Sergio Busquets is also expected to make his debut in this tournament.

On top of everything, Inter Miami is now led by Gerardo “Tata” Martino, who used to be Barca’s coach during its Messi (and Busquets) days.

My Favorite 2023 Leagues Cup Sleeper

BetOnline and other sportsbooks are giving +4000 on FC Dallas winning the Leagues Cup, which I think is crazy.

Sure, this might not be the best team in North America, but the boys from Texas do deserve to be in the top 10 on the list of favorites.

Why? Because this team has some excellent players on the roster, starting with the forward Jesus Ferreira, who impressed everyone playing for the USMNT at the 2023 Gold Cup.

FC Dallas is also good defensively and has a pretty talented coach.

Most importantly, this team seems to love playing big games. This season in the MLS, we’ve seen FC Dallas slay such giants as Los Angeles FC, St. Louis City, and Inter Miami.

If you want to back FC Dallas, head to BetOnline.

2023 Leagues Cup Winner Prediction

So, who am I predicting to win the 2023 Leagues Cup?

Club America is the team with the shortest 2023 Leagues Cup odds, but I don’t think “The Eagles” will pull it off. Instead, I think we’ll see a team from the United States do it.

After all, the tournament is taking place in the US and Canada, and the Leagues Cup rules are such that when playing against a Liga MX team, the MLS team will be the host.

Basically, if an American team gets to the final, they’ll have their fans at their own stadium to support them.

So, which of the MLS teams do I think is the most likely to win the Leagues Cup trophy?
It’s got to be Inter Miami.

“The Herons” might struggle at first – perhaps even lose to Cruz Azul in Messi’s first-ever game in Inter Miami’s jersey – but if they get to the knockouts, nothing will stop them from winning the trophy.

If you think Messi has what it takes to win this tournament, maybe you think he also has a chance to win an ESPY Award. Be sure to view his odds and other athletes with our 2023 ESPY Award betting preview below.
