Betting Preview for UFC Fight Night: Gane vs. Spivak with Odds and Picks

All of my top UFC bets won in the last two events; let’s hope the same will be the case with my UFC Fight Night: Gane vs. Spivak picks!

The UFC is returning to Paris almost exactly one year after the previous event in the French capital. Same as the last time, Ciryl Gane is headlining the event. This time, he’s fighting Sergey Spivak.

The headliner isn’t the only interesting bout of the September 2nd event. In the co-main event, for instance, we’ll see Rose Namajunas make her debut in the UFC Women’s Flyweight debut.

We’ll also see the former French commando Benoit Saint-Denis try to extend his finishing spree. Let’s get right into the UFC Fight Night: Gane vs. Spivak odds below.

As you’d expect from such an exciting event, the UFC Fight Night: Gane vs. Spivak odds are fantastic. I took them from BetUS, but other MMA betting sites also have them in their offer.

As you can see from the table above, the biggest favorite of the night is Jacqueline Cavalcanti, but even her odds aren’t too short (-390). In comparison, the biggest favorite in the previous UFC event (Rinya Nakamura) has the odds of -800.

When it comes to the main event – Ciryl Gane vs. Sergey Spivak – the Frenchman is the favorite at -160, but the odds aren’t miles apart.

The same wasn’t the case with the previous UFC event, in which the favorite (Max Holloway) in the headliner fight was priced at -725.

This is a crucial fight for the two-time UFC Heavyweight title challenger if he wants to make himself relevant again after a humbling loss to Jon Jones.

“Bon Gamin,” a.k.a. “Good Kid,” is one of the greatest strikers in the UFC Heavyweight division. He lands 5.08 significant strikes per minute, but he’s not only about volume – he’s also about power.

Gane is also amazing when it comes to dodging the opposition strikes, as he moves like a middleweight.

This explains why the Frenchman has never been KO-ed before despite fighting against some of the hardest hitters on the planet, including the following:

Gane even managed to avoid getting KO-ed by Francios Ngannou, the record holder for the hardest punch in the world. Want more proof of how good a striker “The Predator” is? It’s the fact that legendary boxing champ Tyson Fury has agreed to fight him.

Ciryl didn’t get KO-ed, but he did lose that fight. It’s because, at one point, Ngannou switched to wrestling. Despite having zero takedowns in his UFC portfolio before that fight, he took Gane down four times, which was enough to win by points.

Gane’s takedown defense failed him in his second title bout. In March, Jon Jones took him down twice before finishing him with a guillotine choke after only 124 seconds. This should worry his fans a lot as he’s taking on Spivak, who’s coming off an impressive first-round submission win over Derrick Lewis.

If he’s going to win, Gane mustn’t let Spivak turn the fight into a wrestling duel. The easiest way to prevent that is to go for an early knockout.

I’ve already explained why I expect Gane to beat Spivak, and his UFC Paris odds of -160 looks very tasty. But if you want even better odds, I’ve got another Gane vs. Spivak bet for you – Gane to win by KO/TKO in round 1.

The Frenchman needs an impressive win to get himself back in the title conversation. Plus, he will have his crowd cheer him on in Paris. His opponent usually doesn’t do well against tall guys with a long reach.

I suspect something similar could happen to Rose Namajunas. She’s fighting powerful French finisher Manon Fiorot on her flyweight debut, and I don’t think it’s gonna end well for her.

Namajunas looked tiny in the strawweight division, which is why I’m still confused as to why she decided to move up a weight class.

Another French fighter I can see winning at UFC Paris is Benoit Saint-Denis. The former special ops operative is 11-1-1 in his pro career, with three straight finishes in the UFC.

This guy is a fantastic wrestler with a background in judo, but his strongest weapon is his power. I think he should have no problems overpowering Thiago Moses and booking another win.

All my UFC predictions for the main card fights came true in the last two events. When it comes to prelims, I had a 100% hit rate two weekends ago, while last Saturday, my prelim picks went 4-for-7, which is still pretty good.

I hope the same will happen on September 2nd, especially with the main card fights, as those are the ones with excellent UFC Paris odds for the favorites.

And yes, I do think most favorites will win this coming Saturday; the only one that concerns me is Volkan Oezdemir against Bogdan Guskov.   

The UFC Fight Night Paris is when we’ll find out whether Oezdemir still has it in him or if he’s turned into a real journeyman.

This guy has an impressive portfolio, even fighting for the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship on one occasion. However, he’s 4-6 in his last 10 fights, which is why my advice is to stay away from this fight.

UFC Paris is a fantastic event for you if you’re interested in live betting. It’s all because of the fighting styles of the fighters involved.

For example, Ciryl Gane is a striking maestro who’ll be looking for a quick finish. But the more time passes, the higher the chance Spivak will take him down.

So, if the Frenchman fails to finish the Moldovan (or at least hurt him badly) in the first round, my advice is to bet live on Spivak.
