  • Bovada favors Max Verstappen (-190) to win, but with shorter odds than in recent memory.
  • McLaren now has the fastest car in F1, and Lando Norris will fight for his second victory of the year.
  • Can Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz work together to put Ferrari on top?

The 2024 Austrian Grand Prix odds favor Max Verstappen, Lando Norris, and Charles Leclerc, but who will be the first driver to the checkered flag? McLaren, Ferrari, and Mercedes have significantly closed the gap to Red Bull, who are looking to continue their recent dominance at their home track.

This Austrian GP betting preview shares the current odds to win the race, who the favorite is, and potential sleeper picks. I’ll also share my 2024 Austrian Grand Prix predictions and tell you the best sites to bet on it.

Current Odds to Win the 2024 Austrian GP

The top online sportsbooks accept Formula 1 wagers, including Bovada; our recommended site to bet on F1.

  • Max Verstappen (-190)
  • Lando Norris (+300)
  • Charles Leclerc (+1400)
  • Carlos Sainz (+2000)
  • George Russel (+2000)
  • Lewis Hamilton (+2000)
  • Sergio Perez (+2200)
  • Oscar Piastri (+2500)

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before, but Max Verstappen (-190) is favored to win in Austria. Lando Norris (+300) is the next favorite. This isn’t surprising, as the McLaren seems to have the fastest car on the grid at the moment. Norris himself said that if it weren’t for a poor start, he could have won the Spanish GP; a race he qualified on pole for.

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc (+1400) and Carlos Sainz (+2000) follow Norris in the odds, though the team appears to have lost a step since its victory in Monaco only three races ago.

Successfully betting $10 on a Verstappen victory at Bovada would win you $5.36, while the same $10 on Norris and Leclerc would get you $30 and $140, respectively. In addition to the outright winners bet, Bovada has more Austrian GP bets, including who will finish in the top 3 and which team will win the race.

2024 Austrian Grand Prix Details

  • What: 2024 Austrian Grand Prix
  • Where: Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, Styria, Austria
  • When: Sunday, June 29 at 9 a.m. EST/6 a.m. PST
  • Watch: ESPN/ESPN+

The Austrian GP takes place on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at 9 a.m. EST/6 a.m. PST, live from the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, Styria, Austria. The track hosted Formula 1 races from 1970 to 1987, 1997–2003, and most recently from 2014–present.

American viewers can catch the action on ESPN and ESPN+, while Canadians can tune into TSN and UK fans can watch the race on Sky Sports.

Max Verstappen won here in 2023 and now has four wins at this event. Ferrari holds the most constructor wins, but Verstappen and Red Bull (4) will be eyeing their fifth win to close the gap.

Why is Max Verstappen the Austrian GP Favorite?

Max Verstappen is the odds-on favorite to win the 2024 Austrian GP at -190, and why wouldn’t he be? He’s dominated the field for the last two years and won in Spain last week despite the fact that McLaren fielded a seemingly faster car than his Red Bull.

But Austria is Red Bull’s home race—the track itself is known as the Red Bull Ring. While Red Bull and Verstappen’s dominance over the rest of the field has dwindled some, he’s still the driver to beat, and I’d exercise caution betting against him.  He may no longer have the fastest car, but Verstappen is still the fastest driver on the grid and is the favorite to win for good reason.

My 2024 Austrian Grand Prix predictions mark Max Verstappen to win in his team’s home race.

Top Austrian GP Contenders for 2024

  • Lando Norris (+300)
  • Charles Leclerc (+1400)
  • Carlos Sainz (+2000)

Lando Norris (+300) is on the brink of becoming a regular race-winner in Formula 1. Having scored his maiden victory in Miami earlier this year, the Brit has come close to additional wins in Imola and Canada. McLaren seems now to be the fastest car in the field, and Norris desperately wants to reward the team’s development work with more victories.

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc (+1400) and Carlos Sainz (+2000) are the only non-Red Bull duo to have both won races in 2024. But Leclerc’s victory in Monaco only one month ago feels like a distant memory, as the surging Mercedes has seemingly surpassed Ferrari in raw pace.

Leclerc and Sainz had always seemed to get along. But with Sainz without a contract and Leclerc wanting to solidify his role as team leader before the arrival of Lewis Hamilton next year, tensions may be increasing. The two clashed multiple times in Spain, and both publicly complained about the other during and after the race.

Ferrari is still capable of winning the Austrian Grand Prix but will need Leclerc and Sainz to cooperate with each other, along with some bad luck for Red Bull and McLaren for good measure.

2024 Austrian GP Sleepers

While Max, Lando, and Leclerc are the favorites to win Austria, there are still 17 other drivers on the grid fighting to finish first. Here are my two sleeper picks to win the 2024 Austrian GP.

Lewis Hamilton (+2000)

The fact that Lewis Hamilton (+2000) shares the same odds as 2024 Australian GP winner Carlos Sainz is a testament to how far the Mercedes challenger has come since the start of the year. While Russel put the Mercedes on pole in Canada and briefly led the Spanish GP, it was Hamilton who scored his first podium of the year last week.

Hamilton wants to follow up his podium with his first win since Saudi Arabia 2021—by far the biggest gap in the 7x World Champion’s career. And with a potential race-winning car underneath him and a desire to win more races with Mercedes ahead of his impending move to Ferrari, my 2024 Austrian GP predictions include Lewis Hamilton as a long shot winner.

Sergio Perez (+2200)

It feels a bit odd to name the person driving the exact same car as Max Verstappen as a sleeper pick, but that’s the kind of year Sergio Perez (+2200) has had so far. “Checo” recently signed a two-year extension, but his recent results haven’t done much to quiet those who questioned why Red Bull would resign him in the first place.

But Perez hasn’t won six races and scored 39 podiums in his career for nothing. He’s a tire management master and, despite recent troubles, is one of the most consistent drivers on the grid. If he can get back on form and qualify well in Austria, he’ll be able to help Max fend off McLaren, Mercedes, and Red Bull; and position himself to score his first victory in 2024 should the opportunity present itself.

Who Will Win the 2024 Austrian Grand Prix?

The Austrian Grand Prix takes place on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at 9 a.m. EST/6 a.m. PST. Max Verstappen (-190) is favored to win, with Lando Norris (+300) and Charles Leclerc (+1400) as the favorites to upset Max. Carlos Sainz (+2000) and the Mercedes duo of Lewis Hamilton (+2000) and George Russell (+2000) are also contenders to win the race.

My 2024 Austrian GP predictions put Verstappen on top of the podium along with Norris and Hamilton; repeating the Spanish GP’s podium.
