Swedish singer Loreen has a chance to become only the second person in history to win two Eurovision Song Contest as a performer (Ireland’s Johnny Logan did it in the 1980s).

After winning the 2012 Eurovision with “Euphoria,” Loreen is favored to do it again with the 2023 Eurovision odds of -135.

She’s an odds-on favorite on all gambling apps that cover Eurovision, suggesting that she’s almost certainly going to be the one to triumph at Liverpool Arena on May 13.

All the other entries come as “plus money” bets, but that only means you can win big money if they win. Let’s see how good their Eurovision 2023 odds actually are.

It’s happened before, and I won’t be surprised if Käärijä’s WWE-style show makes voters (and the jury) fall in love with “Cha Cha Cha.”

In all honestly, “Heart of Steel” by Tvorchi doesn’t seem like the kind of song that would win the Eurovision. At least not in normal circumstances.

Don’t get me wrong; this isn’t a bad song. It’s actually the opposite. But the Eurovision crowd prefers glitzy pop songs to RNB entries with a deeper meaning, such as “Heart of Steel.”

However, one mustn’t forget that both the public and the jury do Eurovision voting. And most of the time, it’s the televoting that matters the most.

Last year, for example, Ukraine Kalush Orkestra received only 192 points from the jury. However, “Stefania” ended up winning anyway, thanks to 631 televote points. Why wouldn’t the same happen again?

After all, there are still nearly 8 million Ukrainian refugees remaining in European countries.

You can be sure that many of them will vote for “Heart of Steel,” especially given that the song was inspired by the plight of the Azovstal defenders during the 2022 siege of Mariupol.

“Heart of Steel” isn’t the only Eurovision 2023 song inspired by the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Croatia’s Mama ŠČ! is another one.

Performed by parody group Let 3, the song ridicules Vladimir Putin, referring to him as “that little psychopath.”

Then there’s the stage performance with all-male Let 3 members sporting Soviet trench coats and women’s lingerie while in full makeup. Such a performance would be a no-go in Putin’s Russia, but the Eurovision crowd might find it funny.

However, oddsmakers think the song is too goofy to win the contest. They’re giving the 2023 Eurovision winner odds of +8000 for Let 3.

If you agree with bookies that this song is too flamboyant even for Eurovision standards, then you might want to consider some other longshots. Below are three sleepers that I believe could be worth backing.

Performed by La Zarra, “Évidemment” is France’s entry for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.

The song is loved by critics and is expected to win a lot of votes from juries around the continent. In fact, some betting sites see it as the second-favorite to win the jury vote (behind Sweden).

The UK is in shared third place by the number of Eurovision wins, with five of its songs winning the contest so far. However, the last time it happened was in 1997.

Twenty-six years definitely seems like too long a wait, right?

Yep, even though it’s located 8,756 miles away from Europe, this country will take part in the 2023 Eurovision.

Actually, this is going to be the eighth time Aussies are competing in Europe’s prime song contest. Australia’s best finish was second place in 2016, but maybe Voyager’s “Promise” can do even better?

I am just going to be frank here and say I don’t consider any of these songs real Eurovision 2023 favorites. I don’t think there’s a good chance these entries can win, but they can definitely end up in the Top 10.

In the last 10 years, the betting favorites failed to win the contest on four occasions (2014, 2015, 2017, and 2018). However, when there was an odds-on favorite, that entry won each time.
