Odds and Picks for the 2023 French Open – Predicting Who Will Win the Men’s and Women’s Grand Slams

This year’s Roland Garros has the potential to be more exciting than the previous edition. If you look at the 2023 French open odds, you’ll see that many players can be considered serious candidates for the trophy.

All the other players participating in the WTA event are priced at over +1000. This includes Coco Gauff, who was last year’s runner-up.

She’s currently in the shared-sixth place in the list of favorites, with the 2023 Roland Garros odds of +1600.

The 2023 French Open betting odds suggest there are (at least) three players who stand a good chance of winning the Men’s Singles tournament.

I think the winner will be one of the top two favorites – Carlos Alcaraz or Novak Djokovic.

Alcaraz is undoubtedly the next big thing in tennis, while Djokovic is the only representative of the Big 3 of tennis – Nadal is out, and Federer has ended his professional career.

In the Women’s Singles tournament, the only player who seems capable of ruining Iga Swiatek’s plans is Aryna Sabalenka. After all, she’s already done it once this year.

It was the final of the 2023 Madrid Open when the Belarus player staged an upset, beating the -333 favorite Iga Swiatek 2-1 in sets.

Over the last 15+ years, the French Open has been dominated by Rafael Nadal. The King of Clay has won this tournament on 14 occasions.

In fact, since 2005, only three other players have won this tournament – Stan Wawrinka, Roger Federer, and Novak Djokovic.

That said, we haven’t seen too many surprises in the French Open in recent years. However, this time we might see one. And if it does happen, I think it will be Dominic Thiem to do it.

The Austrian player came very close to winning the French Open on two occasions – in 2018 and 2019. Both times he lost in the final to Rafael Nadal.

Truth be told, he hasn’t done much since, but he’s still relatively young. At 29, Thiem still has a chance to resurrect his career, and a great way to kickstart his comeback is to win the 2023 French Open.

My top sleeper bet for the Women’s Singles tournament is Ons Jabeur.

After a debacle at the Australian Open (second-round exit), the Tunisian player seems determined to do better in the second Grand Slam tournament of the year.

With the odds of +1600, she does seem like an interesting bet.

Although the French Open is one of the four tennis majors, this tournament differs greatly from the others. Some factors are vital in this event, starting with the playing surface.

The French Open is the only Grand Slam tournament using clay as the playing surface. To play well on this surface, you need to be strong and agile, which explains why Nadal has been so dominant at Roland Garros.

Other players that love this playing surface include Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz, Stefanos Tsitsipas, etc.

Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal each have 22 Grand Slams in their collection. Adding another one would give the winner an edge in the GOAT race.

Knowing that both are already in their late 30s, neither will have too many chances to get to the 23rd major.

The problem with Nadal is that even though his mind wants it, his body will probably stop him from making this dream come true – fitness concerns forced him to give up on this year’s Roland Garros.

But what about Djokovic? Well, he is my 2023 French Open favorite for a reason.

Who will win the French Open? In 2023, Novak Djokovic is the best tennis player on the planet. I can’t say for how long he will stay the best player, but he is the best right now.

Plus, he’s proved he knows how to play at Roland Garros – Djoker has won this tournament two times (2016 and 2021).

If you’re still not convinced that he’s the right pick, you should also know that Novak’s been in pretty good form in 2023. After all, he’s the one who won the Australian Open a few months ago, dropping just one set along the way.

What Djokovic did in Australia is what I think Swiatek might do in France. The 21-year-old is the best female player in the world and will show it at the 2023 French Open. I’m sure of that!
