The who’s who of professional road cycling are coming to Scotland to participate in the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships. This is a multi-race event organized by the UCI, which is meant to be held every four years.
The Men’s Elite Road Race on August 6 is the one event in which sportsbooks have released the 2023 UCI World Championships odds. Judging by those, this is going to be a real spectacle.
There are four riders whose odds are coming in the form of a 3-digit number, as well as 20+ contestants whose odds are shorter than +10000.
Let’s dive into the odds and where to bet on the UCI World Championships below.
Where to Bet on the UCI World Championships
The Men’s Road Race of the UCI World Championships looks ideal for betting, but the trouble is that not all sportsbooks cover this event.
Luckily, many of the best sports betting sites have already released the 2023 UCI Road World Championships odds.
One of those sites is Bovada, a US-friendly online sportsbook famous for its coverage of niche sports like cycling.
Bovada is also famous for its bonuses, responsive customer support, mobile-friendly website, etc. If you’d like to learn more about the betting site, our expert Bovada review provides more information.
When it comes to the sportsbooks where people from outside the United States can bet on the UCI World Championships, one site that stands out is 10Bet.
Latest Odds to Win 2023 UCI World Championships
In the table above, you can find the latest 2023 UCI Road World Championships odds.
Sports fans from Northern Europe are going nuts for road cycling. It’s no surprise as the riders from this part of the world have started to dominate the sport.
Jonas Vingegaard – who won’t compete at the UCI World Championship in 2023 – had an incredible welcome in his home country of Denmark after winning the Tour de France.

Vingegaard won’t be coming to Glasgow this summer, but many of his fellow Danes will. In fact, one of the four riders with 2023 UCI World Championships odds shorter than +1000 is a Danish athlete – Mads Pedersen (+700).
The other three are also from Northern Europe – Belgian riders Jasper Philipsen (+500) and Wout Van Aert (+550) and Dutchman Mathieu van Der Poel (+650).
Apart from the Northerners, a couple of riders from other parts of Europe are on the favorites list.
Slovenian rider Tadej Pogacar (+1200) is there, French rider Christophe Laporte (+2200), Italian Filippo Ganna (+4000), and Northern Ireland’s finest cyclist Ben Healy (+4000).
Why Is Jasper Philipsen Favored to Win?
The betting odds for the UCI World Championships suggest this will be an extremely interesting event. There are at least four riders who can be considered favorites, but it’s Jasper Philipsen that stands out.
He’s the No. 1 betting favorite, with his 2023 UCI World Championships odds currently set at +500. The main reason for this is that the 25-year-old Belgian is an expert sprinter who excels at these sorts of races.
The Men Elite Road Race at the 2023 UCI World Championships is run across a 106.31-mile course between Edinburgh and Glasgow, which has only two challenging ascents.
That said, this race is ideal for fast sprinters who don’t even need to possess great stamina. Jasper Philipsen fits the description perfectly!

Top 2023 UCI World Contenders to Bet On
In addition to Philipsen, there are three more riders with odds of under +1000. All three need to be considered serious contenders for the title in Scotland. But who’s the most likely to get it?
Wout Van Aert (+550)
The Belgian is widely considered to be one of the experts for one-day races. Not only is he incredibly fast on the flat course, but he’s also great when it comes to climbing.
In fact, many think of him as the most well-rounded cyclist on Earth right now.
Mathieu Van Der Poel (+650)
You can think of Mathieu Van Der Poel as a Dutch version of Van Aert. He is also a one-day race expert who excels on flat terrain and while riding across mountains.
The Dutchman was one of the main favorites to win the last year’s World Championship race but dropped out in the early stages.
It’s possibly due to not getting enough sleep the night before – Van der Poel spent the night in jail after an altercation with two teenage girls who were apparently harassing the Dutch rider.
Mads Pedersen (+700)
Mads Pedersen is another rider with the 2023 UCI World Championships betting odds shorter than +1000.
The winner of the UCI Men Road Race in 2019 is a classic specialist who tends to achieve incredible speed when riding on flat terrain. Mounting cycling isn’t his forte, but there won’t be any too-difficult ascents in Scotland.
My Favorite UCI World Championships Sleeper
Remco Evenepoel is the man who won the Men Road Race at the UCI World Championships last year in Wollongong. He started the 2023 cycling season brilliantly with a couple of wins in classics, then went to Italy as the No. 1 favorite to win the Giro.
Unfortunately, the 23-year-old Belgian was forced to withdraw from the race after testing positive for COVID-19. He returned in June and won the Tour de Suisse, a race that was cut short following Gino Mader’s death.
Then, just one week later, Evenepoel won his first-ever Belgian National Road Race Championship. Since then, he’s been working on preparing for the Scotland race, and I think he’s going to do well.
Prediction for the 2023 UCI World Championships
So, you’re probably curious about who my 2023 Road World Championships prediction is.
The Grand Tours – Giro D’Italia, Tour de France, and Vuelta a Espana – are the three biggest events in the road cycling hierarchy. However, the UCI Men’s Road Race is just behind those.
That said, winning in Scotland in August is something everyone’s willing to fight for.
Philipsen, Van Aert, Van Der Poel, Pedersen, and Evenepoel will all give their utmost. So, who will win the 2023 UCI Road World Championships?
My 2023 Road World Championships prediction is Van Der Poel. It’s because this guy has an extra bit of motivation to win after a debacle in last year’s race.
If you agree with my pick or have another cyclist in mind, I suggest placing your bet at the best sports betting sites you can find online.
