The 2023 Women’s World Cup has reached the knockout stage, with only 16 teams remaining. Almost all the heavyweights have made it to the playoffs, with Germany being the only exception.

The top three pre-tournament favorites are there – the USWNT, England, and Spain – and their 2023 Women’s World Cup odds have shortened even further.

Let’s further examine the latest odds to win the 2023 Women’s World Cup and if a favorite can pull off the tournament win.

Before the start of the tournament, the American ladies were seen as the No. 1 favorites to lift the trophy on August 20th. However, now that the group stage is over, the Women’s World Cup betting sites think England is most likely to win.

The earliest these two teams can meet is the final, but the USMNT could run into another major title candidate in the semifinal. The team in question is Spain, which is given the same 2023 Women’s World Cup odds as the US (+450).

Oddsmakers think England can end the USWNT’s World Cup reign that started back in 2015. The Lionesses are now favored to win their first-ever Women’s World Cup.

Mallory Swanson scored three of those goals, while the fourth was the work of Alex Morgan. At the back, team captain Becky Sauerbrunn was nothing short of brilliant in those three games.

All three were part of the 2019 World Cup-winning USWNT squad, which Megan Rapinoe captained. At this point, it’s unclear whether the 2019 Golden Ball winner will play in the 2023 tournament, although Rapinoe did hint in a recent interview that she’s going to be there in July/August.

The 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia/New Zealand has the potential to be the most exciting event in the history of the tournament. It’s because there are at least four incredibly good teams that look capable of taking the trophy from USWNT’s hands.

Among those are England, Spain, and France, each of which comes with the 2023 Women’s World Cup odds shorter than +1000. However, I don’t think all of those are on the same level as Team US.

France, for example, failed to do much four years ago in the tournament that took place on their turn. I doubt they’re gonna do much better in Australia and New Zealand.

I also don’t think we’ll see much from them, as this team could meet with mighty England in the semifinals.

Although some gambling apps give longer odds on England, there are a few sites that see the Lionesses as co-main favorites to win the 2023 World Cup.

Four years ago, their journey ended in the semifinal, in which they lost 2-1 to the USWNT. This time, they look capable of going further.

In fact, we could see a real big challenge coming their way only in the semis. My prediction is that they’re going to meet the USWNT in the semifinal. 

No host nation has won the FIFA Women’s World Cup since 1999, when the USWNT did it. But in most cases, the hosts did get far. I think the same might happen in 2023.

While the Kiwis are out, I do think their neighbors might do well.

The Australian Women’s National Team is priced at +1200 at the best betting sites, which is actually a pretty good value. Not only do they play on their turf, but the Aussies look really good in 2023.

In February, for example, we saw them beat Spain 3-2 in a friendly match, with each goal scored by a different player.

So who is my 2023 Women’s World Cup winner prediction? There’s only one team that’s standing out for me and that is Team USA.

This is the only team in the competition to have won the tournament on four different occasions and is backed by strong players who can gun for their third straight title.
