2023 World Athletics Championships Odds with athletes and various odds surrounding
  • The 2023 World Athletics Championships begins on August 19th, so it’s time to place your bets.
  • There are a variety of events that you can bet on, including the 100m dash, long jump, and more.
  • Some of my top bets include Fred Kerley winning the 100m and Chase Ealey winning the Shot Put.

The 2023 World Athletics Championship is almost here. So many great athletes from around the world will compete in hopes of winning gold. It will be an incredibly exciting event to watch, but there’s a way to make it even more entertaining.

That’s right; I’m talking about betting on the 2023 World Athletics Championships odds. If you think you know who is going to win certain events, it’s time to put your money where your mouth is.

Not only is it satisfying to be able to predict the winners, but it’s very rewarding as well. Let’s look at the betting odds from the best sports betting sites to see who is standing out.

Odds for the 2023 World Athletics Championships

If you haven’t bet on the World Athletics Championship before, don’t worry. I’ll be walking you around the events you can bet on and offering my best bets and sleeper picks.

Not only are there 2023 World Athletics Championships odds for individual events for men and women, but you can also bet on which country wins the most gold medals. Let’s start with that one first.

Most Gold Medals Odds

USA-5000
Kenya+1600
Jamaica+1800
Ethiopia+2200
China+2500
Great Britain+6600
Norway+10000
Poland+10000
Australia+15000
Germany+25000

If you visit BetUS you’ll find the odds for which country finishes with the most gold medals. Unless you’re a big fan of track and field, you probably aren’t aware of the big-name athletes at this year’s event.

No, Usain Bolt will not be running, and that’s probably the extent of your knowledge. Not to worry, you can still bet on the World Athletics Championships with confidence.

I recommend betting on this market since almost every country has a ton of betting value.

The country that has hardly any value is the USA (-5000). This isn’t a huge surprise, especially since they have 121 more gold medals than any other country (Kenya).

In fact, the USA has 414 total medals, 253 more than any other country. However, this bet is just for the amount of gold medals, not silver or bronze.

It will be incredibly difficult for another country to outperform the USA in 2023, but it’s not impossible. That said, it has been done before and will likely happen again.

Kenya and Jamaica both had 7 gold medals in 2015 compared to 6 for the USA. It’s been a long time since another country has been able to do that, but it simply doesn’t make a lot of sense to bet on the USA at -5000.

Which country do you think can beat them out in 2023? Head straight to BetUS to wager on these odds now!

Odds for 100m

Fred Kerley+260
Noah Lyles+450
Letsile Tobogo+550
Zharnel Hughes+550
Ferdinand Omanyala+750
Akani Simbine+800
Lamont Marcell Jacobs+800
Issamade Assinga+1000
Cravont Charleston+1400
Christian Coleman+1600

The 100m dash is arguably the biggest event at any track and field gathering. If you ever want to be amazed at what the human race can do, make sure you tune into the 100m dash at the World Athletics Championships.

These athletes can cover 100m in under 10 seconds, which means they run faster than 22 miles per hour. To put things into perspective, a lot of areas of the world will have speed limits lower than that.

It’s incredible that some people can literally run faster than the speed limit.

So, who will win this intense race in 2023? The betting odds favor Fred Kerley, who won last year’s event with a time of 9.86. Marvin Bracy (9.88) and Trayvon Bromell (9.88) finished in second and third, respectively.

Noah Lyles, Letsile Tobogo, and Zharnel Hughes are the top contenders odds-wise. This isn’t the full list of athletes you can bet on either. You can bet on up to 14 different runners with odds all the way up to +8000.

Shot Put Odds

Ryan Crouser-800
Joe Kovacs+800
Tom Walsh+1400
Darlan Romani+3300
Josh Awotunde+3300
Rajindra Campbell+4000
Payton Otterdahl+5000
Filip Mihaljevic+6600
Jacko Gill+6600
Leonardo Fabbri+8000

Another major event is the shot put, which was won by Ryan Crouser in 2022. His throw was 22.94m, but he just beat the world record back in May with a remarkable 23.56m toss.

Crouser has been a dominant force in Shot Put, so it makes sense that he’s a heavy favorite to win. That said, you might not be intrigued by his -800 odds.

You don’t exactly get much of a return on your investment, so maybe you’d like to bet on someone else. After all, there’s still a chance Crouser doesn’t repeat, or beat his world record at this event.

Joe Kovacs got the silver in 2022 with a 22.89m throw. He came very close to Crouser and there’s a good chance he’s a top finisher again. It’s not ideal to bet against someone who just broke the world record, but at +800, I’d at least consider it.

Other top contenders are projected to be Tom Walsh, Darlan Romani, Josh Awotunde, and more.

High Jump Odds

Mutaz Essa Barshim-145
JuVaughn Harrison+375
Gianmarco Tamberi+700
Sang-Hyeok Woo+750
Joel Baden+2800
Tobias Potye+2800
Zhen Wang+3300
Hamish Kerr+4000
Shelby McEwen+4000
Brandon Starc+5000

I’ve already mentioned how fast these athletes can run, but what about how high they can jump? The high jumpers can quite literally jump through the roof, specifically Mutaz Essa Barshim.

He jumped 2.37m high in 2022 to earn gold. His two previous jumps before that were also 2.37m, so there’s a good chance he’s in that range again.

Javier Sotomayor’s world record (2.45m) still stands from 30 years ago, and there’s a good chance no one will break it in 2023.

JuVaughn Harrison should have a good chance of winning this event. His personal best is 2.36m from two years ago. The 24-year-old doesn’t have as much experience as other jumpers, but he has tons of potential.

Best Bets to Target This Year

  • Fred Kerley to Win the Men’s 100m Dash (+260)
  • Chase Ealey to Win Women’s Shot Put (+175)
  • Kristjan Ceh to Win Men’s Discus (+120)
  • Malaika Mihambo to Win Women’s Long Jump (+150)

When making your World Athletics Championships predictions for 2023, you want to make sure you are betting on options that have two things. First, you want to make sure that the athlete you are betting on has a strong chance to win.

Once you’ve found someone that you are confident in, the next thing you’ll want to do is ensure that their price has value. As I said earlier, there are a lot of heavy favorites at this year’s competition, but it’s hard to justify betting on them.

Yes, they have a high chance to win. However, the return on your investment is slim to none. That’s why it’s more intriguing to bet on other athletes or events altogether.

All four of my picks above meet this criteria, which is why they are my best bets for 2023.

The Men’s 100m Dash will be close, but Fred Kerley should have a very high chance of winning. He’s the defending champion after running a 9.86 at the 2022 event.

That wasn’t even his personal best for the 100m, which is 9.76.

Kerley’s price (+260) is very intriguing since he won this race last year and currently holds the World Leading time.

Chase Ealey and Gong Lijiao both have +175 odds to win the Women’s Shot Put. Ealey won the 2022 event with a 20.49m toss, while Lijiao threw 20.39m. I expect this to be another close one, and you could make the argument for either option.

That said, I’m leaning more toward Ealey, who threw an incredible 20.51m at the 2022 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Kristjan Ceh and Daniel Stahl will be the two top contenders for the Men’s Discus. I’m betting on Ceh since neither of Stahl’s 2022 throws cracked 68m, whereas both of Ceh’s did.

Malaika Mihambo has won each of her last two World Championships, and there’s a good chance she extends her winning streak in 2023.

Top 2023 WAC Sleeper Picks to Bet On

  • Sandi Morris to Win Women’s Pole Vault (+1400)
  • Shericka Jackson to Win Women’s 100m Dash (+500)
  • Cordell Tinch to Win Men’s 110m Hurdles (+650)

There are a lot of great athletes that you can bet on in just about any event. Yes, the favorites and top contenders have the highest chance of winning, but that doesn’t mean a longshot bet can’t win.

We always see surprise winners, and there’s a good chance we will also see a few this year. That means throwing in a few sleeper picks here, and there could be a good idea. If you’re able to predict one of these longshot winners, you would be in for quite the payout.

For example, Sandi Morris has +1400 odds to win the Women’s Pole Vault. Katie Moon is the favorite at -155, which means a $100 bet wins $64.52. If you bet the same amount on Morris to win, you would win a whopping $1,400, which is significantly more.

Shericka Jackson ran a 10.73 100m dash at the 2022 event, which was a personal best. She came in second, trailing Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce by a mere 0.06 seconds. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is the favorite to win again, but her season best is just 10.82 in 2023.

This could mean that a longshot option like Jackson could have an increased chance of winning.

Another intriguing longshot bet is Cordell Tinch in the 110m Hurdles. Tinch does not have a lot of experience, but he does have a ton of potential. In fact, Tinch ran a world-leading 12.96 time back in June.

It will be difficult to beat out Grant Holloway, but Tinch could be a star in the making. After all, longshot bets are based purely on the upside.

Keep that in mind when placing your own bets. You probably shouldn’t bet on all longshots, but it’s a good idea to sprinkle in a few. Morris, Jackson, and Tinch are three that I’m rolling with for 2023.

Betting on the 2023 World Athletics Championships

The 19th World Athletics Championships are almost here. We have a ton of great events on the schedule, and it’ll be very fun to see who wins in 2023.

If you think you know who is taking home the gold medal, be sure to place your bets at the top betting sites.

Not only does it make them more entertaining to watch, but it also gives you some incentive. Being able to correctly predict most of these events would win you a lot of cash.

Who should you bet on? Well, there are many options to consider. My favorite bet has to be for Fred Kerley to win the Men’s 100m Dash. His odds have a ton of value at +260, and he won the 2022 event.

I’m also a big fan of my longshot predictions. Not only do Sandi Morris, Shericka Jackson, and Cordell Tinch have strong chances to win their events, but they also have very profitable prices.

I’ll be happy if I get just one right and ecstatic if I get all three.
