  • 5 Reel Circus is arguably the top choice when it comes to finding circus slots online.
  • Circus of Horror has a scary game design, paired with 243 paylines and a good RTP rating at 96.68%.

The modern version of the circus was created relatively recently. Sure, the concept of the circus has been with us since ancient Rome. Still, the enterprise we imagine when we hear the word “circus” usually features a big colorful tent, elephants, clowns, and people doing dangerous stunts didn’t come into being until the 18th century.

It’s remained pretty much the same since then. Inside that tent, we still find a ringmaster directing our attention to one unbelievable feat after another, be it tiger-taming, trapeze-walking, or 87 clowns emerging one after another from a car so small.

In any case, most of us get our circus fix these days by watching similar feats online or on television—and some of us even have fun at the circus when we visit our favorite online casino.

Whether it’s the novelty of something different or nostalgia for a simpler time, people of all ages like the circus—even when they play these circus slots. And wherever you go to find the best online slots, you’ll surely discover plenty of great slots with a circus theme.

Here’s a quick rundown of the five circus slots I’ll discuss, along with where you can play them out just below.

5 Reel Circus

5 Reel Circus
  • Where to Play: Bovada
  • Release Date: June 15, 2006
  • RTP: 95.96%
  • Paylines: 1 to 15
  • Betting Limits: $0.01 to $75 (1 to 5 coins, coin value $0.01 to $1)

All the artwork for this 5×3 circus slot from Rival is nostalgic, from the roaring lion logo to the various symbols on the reels. It’s redolent of the sort of circus that might have come to town back in Dorothy and Toto’s heyday.

Of all the circus slot games I vetted for this blog, 5 Reel Circus is one of the most uncomplicated.

Its rules are few, and its rewards are frequent. The game may seem basic to some, but the more discerning will see plenty to like here.

Regular symbols include a bearded lady, a seal balancing a ball, a bear riding a bicycle, a shooting gallery, a contortionist, a man about to be shot from a cannon, an elephant balancing on its two front legs, a roaring lion, a clown, and the ringmaster.

What’s not to love? These symbols certainly make 5 Reel Circus one of the best circus slots around.

Special symbols are a roaring tiger (wild) and two clowns in front of the big top (scatter), three or more of which trigger 10 free spins and pay up to 100 times your wager.

You can’t ask for much more than that from any slot, let alone slots with a circus theme, so give it a go at Bovada!

Reel Circus

  • Release Date: June 15, 2016
  • RTP: 96%
  • Paylines: 15
  • Betting Limits: $0.15 to $150

Despite the similar titles between the first two circus casino slots, they are completely different games. You’ll just have to try both of them out to see which one you like best. This one is a bit newer than the last, coming out a decade after.

Usually, that means the graphics are upgraded, and I’d say that’s accurate here. That’s not the only thing that’s different about these two games. Reel Circus can also be described as one of the best adult slot machines.

It has 15 paylines and a betting range between 15 cents and $100 per spin. This is also one of the top circus themed slots because it has a strong RTP rating at 96%.

You’ll also have the chance to earn multipliers, scatters, wilds, and free spins.

10 free spins are awarded when you land three of the Cannonball Man symbols. Spinomenal also did a great job with this game’s soundtrack.

If this is one of your top candidates for the best circus slot game online, be sure to try it out at Ignition Casino. They have a great welcome bonus (300%), which can be worth up to $3,000.

Feel free to sign up now and play one of the best circus casino games online!

Circus of Horror

Circus of Horror
  • Where to Play: TrustDice
  • Release Date: February 4, 2019
  • RTP: 96.68%
  • Paylines: 243 (all ways)
  • Betting Limits: $0.50 to $75

Do you like creepy? I like creepy. This 5×3 circus slot game from GameArt lives up to its name by providing plenty of very creepy graphics and a jauntily eerie soundtrack.

Regular symbols include a caged man with a chainsaw, the horned devil of a ringmaster, a skeletal mummy, a murderous nurse,  and the jack through the ace.

Special symbols are a knife-wielding clown (wild), a vampirish man (bonus scatter), and a similarly vampirish woman (free spin scatter). Three or more of the lady vampires on a regular spin can trigger up to 15 free spins with a 3x multiplier.

During free spins, a proscenium drops down to frame the reels, with a clown head above reels one, three, and five. The center clown (above reel three) occasionally drools blood (cool, right?) down on the reel below, converting it to an expanded knife-wielding clown and often creating some winning pay lines.

Incidentally, more vampire ladies can retrigger free spins during the free spin session. Three of the gentleman vampires trigger the Electric Chair round.

All this talk about blood-sucker feigns has me wanting to sink my teeth into the best vampire slots. Otherwise, head to TrustDice for a scary good time with one of the best circus casino slots.

Cirque De La Fortune

Cirque De La Fortune
  • Where to Play: BC.Game
  • RTP: 95.73%
  • Release Date: Aug 6, 2020
  • Paylines: 30
  • Betting Limits: $0.20 to $20

Next up on my list of the best circus online slots is Cirque De La Fortune. This slot machine has a 6×4 layout, which is great if you’re looking to switch things up from the typical 5×3. It also has 30 paylines and an RTP of 95.73%.

This could be considered the best circus slot machine to play for those of you who tend to play for more than you can afford. The maximum wager is only $20, but that could be a good thing if you think about it that way.

You can still wager a good amount in a short time, without sacrificing big wins. Speaking of which, the maximum win is worth 3,333 times your wager. I’d say that’s more than enough to convince you that this is one of the top circus online slots.

Cirque De La Fortune has a lot of great features as well. Here’s a quick glance at what they have to offer:

  • Win Wheel
  • Wildfire Reels
  • Juggling Wilds
  • Magic Expand
  • Disappearing Symbols
  • Free Spins
  • Multiplier Wheel

If the maximum win wasn’t intriguing enough, maybe these extra features will help you get over your Coulrophobia. I don’t recommend playing Circus of Horror if you do have the fear of clowns.

Instead, I recommend playing Cirque De La Fortune. Is it the best circus slot machine to play? Give it a try at BC.Game to find out!

Cirque du Slots

Cirque du Slots
  • Where to Play: DuckyLuck Casino
  • Release Date: November 24, 2015
  • RTP: 94.15%
  • Paylines: 1 to 25
  • Betting Limits: $0.01 to $62.50 (1 to 10 coins, coin value: $1 to $0.25 cents)

As the name of this slot suggests, this game brings slightly creepy circus images and mildly ominous organ & calliope music to deliver a solid slot experience only a top-level game developer like Rival could produce.

Like most of the circus themed slots, Cirque du Slots features the usual regulars on its reels: an acrobat, a top hat, a conical clown hat, a domino mask, a colorful ball, a pair of juggling pins, and the nine through the ace.

Special symbols are a painted clown (scatter), three or more of which trigger seven free spins. A wild acrobat symbol doubles as a multiplier for winning pay lines.

Any win during a free spin works like this: The win is tallied, the symbols comprising the win are exploded, and the symbols above drop down to fill the sudden vacancies, often making new winning pay lines.

During the free spins, it’s possible to see an unmentioned symbol in the game’s info screen—that of a tiger jumping through a fiery hoop. The symbol persists for at least one more spin before disappearing, and since “wilds” are mentioned but are not described or shown in the docs, I suspect the leaping tiger is one of these wilds. YMMV.

Oh, there’s also a unicycle, which is mentioned in the docs. Three or more of these triggers a move to the next act.

That’s right: this game has an Act 1, Act 2, and Act 3. I was unable to discover any difference between the acts except for a brief animation of a curtain closing across the reels and then reopening.

Cirque du Slots plays well enough to stand out among circus slots, but Rival gets a C- on the game’s documentation.

What Is the Best Circus Slot Online?

As you can see, there are a lot of great circus slots to choose from. That said, which one is the best? I wouldn’t say if there’s a right or wrong answer here, simply because all of them are great.

Also, each gambler prefers something different. You might prefer one game’s design over the other, while your friend might prefer a higher RTP and bonus games.

In order to find out which game is the absolute best, you’d probably have to try them all before you declare a winner. That said, there is a game that stands out just a tad more than the others.

I will say that Circus of Horror has the best case for the top slot machine in this category.

It has a great design and the highest RTP rating at 96.68%. Circus of Horror also offers big wins and free spins, which is always a nice thing to have.

This game can be found at TrustDice, which offers a massive welcome bonus. You can get up to 3 BTC ($90,000) when you sign up. If you love to gamble with crypto, you should definitely sign up at TrustDice.

I recommend playing any one of these circus themed slots. There’s also a very good chance you’ll be interested in the top clown slots as well.
