5 Best Elimination Chamber Matches Ever

The best Elimination Chamber matches highlight what six wrestlers can do when locked inside of an enormous steel structure.
My list showcases the top Elimination Chamber matches ever, with a series of memorable battles that show why the match has become a can’t-miss event on WWE’s yearly calendar.
1) 2002 Survivor Series
- November 17, 2002
- Madison Square Garden, New York City, NY
The first iteration of the Elimination Chamber at the 2002 Survivor Series was a battle for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Held at Madison Square Garden, the inaugural Elimination Chamber boasted six of the best all-time wrestlers in WWE history:
- Rob Van Dam
- Triple H
- Booker T
- Chris Jericho
- Kane
- Shawn Micheals
On top of being a great WWE match, it was notable for the fact that Triple H finished the match despite suffering a legitimately crushed windpipe during it. Rob Van Dam miscalculated a Five-Star Frog Splash from the top of a chamber pod, landing his knee directly on Triple H’s throat.
Shawn Micheals would go on to win the match, thus capturing the WWE World Heavyweight Championship — the final singles title of his illustrious, hall of fame-worthy career.
2) 2019 Elimination Chamber
- Feb 17, 2019
- Toyota Center, Houston, TX
The 2019 Men’s Elimination Chamber match served as a major milestone for what was known as Kofimania. Kofi Kingston had been with WWE since 2006, and was easily one of the most popular wrestlers on the roster. However, he had never won the main WWE Championship in his 13+ years in the company.
Kingston won a gauntlet match a week prior, defeating five superstars in a row to earn his spot in the Elimination Chamber match. He would come close to defeating then-champion Bryan Danielson to capture his first WWE Championship, ultimately falling short in the Elimination Chamber.
His loss only made fans want to see Kingston win the championship even more, which he finally did by beating Danielson a few months later in one of the most memorable WrestleMania matches in recent memory.
3) 2018 Women’s Elimination Chamber
- February 25, 2018
- T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, NV
The 2018 Elimination Chamber hosted the first version of the Women’s Elimination Chamber match. It saw Alexa Bliss defend her RAW Women’s Championship against five other competitors including Bayley, Sasha Banks, and Mandy Rose.
The match featured end-to-end action as the wrestlers battled it out in the chamber. Bliss and Sasha Banks were the last women standing, and proceeded to put an on entertaining show that saw Bliss give Banks a Twist of Bliss from the top of one of the pods. Alexa Bliss won the match by shoving Banks into a pod as she climbed it, followed up by a Spike DDT to retain the title.
4) 2009 No Way Out
- February 15, 2009
- KeyArena, Seattle, WA
The 2009 No Way Out event featured two Elimination Chamber matches, the first of which had Edge getting eliminated shortly into the match. The second was originally to feature John Cena, Rey Mysterio Jr., Chris Jericho, Mike Knox, Kane, and Kofi Kingston. However, Edge attacked Kingston while he made his way to the ring, with Edge forcing himself into the match by entering the chamber and locking the door behind him.
Edge would enter fifth in the match, and capitalize on his position by helping eliminate champion John Cena, and then pinning Rey Mysterio to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
5) 2017 Elimination Chamber
- February 12, 2017
- Talking Stick Resort Arena, Phoenix, AZ
The 2017 Men’s Elimination Chamber match pitted John Cena, AJ Styles, The Miz, Bray Wyatt, Baron Corbin, and Dean Ambrose against one another for the WWE Championship. The Miz distracted Corbin, who was then eliminated by Ambrose. Corbin then attacked Ambrose, who was subsequently eliminated by the Miz, who was then quickly eliminated by Cena.
Styles and Cena put on a clinic in a repeat of one of the best WWE matches ever, though Bray Wyatt would execute his Sister Abigail finisher on both competitors to win the match and the WWE Championship as a result — his first WWE singles title.
Sadly, Bray Wyatt passed away in August of 2023, and his victory at the 2017 Elimination Chamber serves as a major highlight of a memorable career that was cut tragically short.
