  • Game developers have gone to the ends of the earth to build these top penguin slots for our enjoyment.
  • Gamblers will love Penguin Power because of its random hot drop progressive jackpot.
  • Penguin Palooza is our top penguin slot because of its generous RTP of 96% at Everygame Casino.

What about penguins is so fascinating to those of us in the not-a-penguin group? Their fine attire, their ability to live and thrive in subzero temperatures virtually year-round?

Or did Morgan Freeman somehow manage to give us all some knowledge about just how cool being a penguin must be? In any case, I like penguins and never miss a documentary about the same, even those Freeman didn’t narrate.

So, when I found the five best penguin slots online, I knew I would have fun. I just didn’t know how much fun it was going to be.

Here’s a quick reference for the various slots I’m featuring among my top five penguin slot games (and the casinos that host them):

Chillin’ Penguins

Chillin Penguins
  • Software: Bovada Gaming
  • RTP: 95.76%
  • Release Date: 2020
  • Pay Lines: 10
  • Betting Limits: 20 cents to $100

For those of us who’ve shoveled enough of it, snow and ice never looks like fun. Still, somehow this game from Bovada suggests that it’s possible to be chillin’ even at subzero temps. At least, if you’re a penguin.

And truthfully, real-life penguins do know a little something about chillin’.

The regular symbols include a floating penguin with a drink, a book-reading rockhopper penguin, a guitar-playing penguin, and cleverly designed pool floats in the shapes of the four suits.

The special symbol is an inflatable duck (wild). That might not seem like much, but have I mentioned the freezin’ penguin feature? This starts whenever three identical penguin symbols appear on reel 1 and reel 5. The penguins freeze in place while the interior three reels spin again.

If another of that same penguin appears on any of the remaining wheels, it triggers a win, and another spin takes place. This continues as new identical penguins appear or until all five reels are filled with the same penguin symbol.

If that latter occurs (15 identical penguins filling the game screen), you win all possible pay lines times a multiplier of ten. For the comp. lit majors among us that add up to “a lot.”

Penguin Power

Penguin Power
  • Software: RealTime Gaming
  • RTP: 97.5%
  • Release Date: November 30, 2011
  • Pay Lines: 1 to 20
  • Betting Limits: 1 cent to $20

This 5×3 penguin slot from RTG boasts a healthy 97.5% return-to-player, plenty of action—and a random hot drop progressive jackpot in the thousands of dollars.

Regular symbols include an adult penguin, a walrus, a cracking egg, a fish, and the nine through ace.

Special symbols include a baby penguin (awwwww) that serves as a wild and a 2x multiplier of any pay line it’s a part of. An igloo scatter also triggers the penguin power feature whenever three or more appear.

This triggers up to 25 free spins, during which more wilds and scatters are added to the reels for increased chances to win.

This is one of my favorite penguin slot machines for its simplicity. I think it might have something to do with that 97.5 RTP.

Kate’s Waddle

Kate's Waddle
  • Software: Arrow’s Edge
  • RTP: 95-96% (estimated)
  • Release Date: January 8, 2020
  • Pay Lines: 100
  • Betting Limits: 30 cents to $240

You may think you’ve tried all the slot machine games, but I bet you haven’t played this 10×10 monster of all penguin slots.

But try it, you must—but first, prepare yourself for some eye-bulging action. Sure, the symbols are smaller but think of those hundred pay lines. Then think of the pay from all of those pay lines.

You have increased opportunities to win, and the game also features three progressive jackpots extending into the hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Could you use a hundred thousand bucks? Of course, you could.

The regular symbols are an igloo, a walrus, a polar bear (okay, so maybe Arrow’s Edge was sick the day they taught the differences between the North and South Poles), an orca whale, a tour boat, a seagull, and an arctic tern.

Special symbols include a waddling penguin, Kate—she’s a free spin trigger.

Whenever at least five Kate’s show up, the reels shrink to the same number as the number of Kate’s, and you get as many free spins as there are Kate’s, as well. This works from 5 to 9 Kate’s. And an Orca leaping in front of the reels during these free spins adds three more free spins.

All of the jackpots—mini, major, and mega—can drop randomly at the end of a regular spin, making this one of your must-play games as you search for the next big win casino.

Penguin City

Penguin City
  • Software: Yggdrasil
  • RTP: 96.2%
  • Release Date: July 18, 2018
  • Pay Lines: 243 (all ways)
  • Betting Limits: 10 cents to $125

Want a penguin slot that looks and plays like the folks who made Nightmare on Elm Street bought out Pixar? Well, you’ve found your dream slot in Penguin City from Yggdrasil.

Weird doesn’t even begin to describe this game, which features penguins attempting to escape being part of the menu of a Chinese restaurant run by a cleaver-wielding emperor penguin.

Regular symbols are a carton of Chinese take-out, a flask of wine, a steaming kettle of fish, a bowl of noodles, a chopping cleaver, and the four suit symbols—heart, diamond, club, and spade.

The special characters are the wild, which only appears on reels 2 and 4, and—if it is part of a winning pay line—becomes a sticky wild, remaining for the next spin.

Any win that includes a wild in regular play triggers the penguin escape mode, where the reels change slightly, and three penguins on a shelf to the left of the reels attempt to escape by jumping on a series of bumpers. They can trigger wilds and wins, and the escape mode continues until there’s a no-win spin.

There’s also an emperor penguin expanding wild that fills the entire reel (third reel only). He’s a guaranteed win and moves down one row with each spin.

Penguin Palooza

Penguin Palooza
  • Software: RealTime Gaming
  • RTP: 96%
  • Release Date: May 18, 2022
  • Pay Lines: 25
  • Betting Limits: 25 cents to $25

You probably don’t need more reasons to try the variety of penguin casino slots available at Everygame Casino Red. But in case you needed that last little nudge, they have Penguin Palooza there.

Great art, a great soundtrack, a generous return-to-player, and plenty of action.

The bird is the word as far as regular symbols go. There’s an earmuff-wearing penguin, a tufted rockhopper penguin, a goggles-wearing arctic tern, and the ten through ace.

Special symbols are a block of ice (helpfully labeled “wild”), an igloo scatter (three of which trigger free spins), and a knitted cap-wearing penguin that serves as a locking scatter, two or more of which trigger the licking scatter free spin feature.

During all free spins, multiplier symbols will appear to enhance any winning pay line, so take advantage of Everygame Casino.
