Kansas City Chiefs Win Super Bowl 59 (-112)

Bovada is loaded with exciting bets for Super Bowl 59, but none are as safe as this one. The Chiefs are -112 favorites to complete the first three-peat in the Super Bowl era.

Kansas City took down Philadelphia in Super Bowl 57 to kick off their three-peat attempt. Philadelphia has improved its roster since then, but the Chiefs have two significant advantages that cannot be understated. First and foremost, KC is led by Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid, giving them the better QB-coach combo.

Second, the Chiefs are the better-rested team. Philadelphia did not play many of its starters in Week 18, but they also had to compete on Super Wild Card Weekend.

Kansas City, on the other hand, will be playing just their third game since Christmas. The rest advantage and the benefit of having Mahomes on their side will be more than enough to power KC to the Lombardi.

Chiefs Cover -1.0 (-102)

The moneyline odds are not the only way to wager on the Chiefs’ third consecutive Super Bowl win. Top Super Bowl betting sites list KC as 1.0-point favorites in the latest point spread odds.

Kansas City opened closer to 1.5, but the odds have shifted toward Philly in the weeks leading up to the Big Game. This is good news for Chiefs bettors because it makes it that much easier for KC to cover the spread.

As I mentioned above, I believe the Chiefs are going to win. It is impossible to win by less than a point in the NFL, so at worst, bettors are looking at a push. However, only one Big Game was decided by exactly a point: the Giants’ 20-19 win over the Bills in Super Bowl 25.

It is also worth noting that all of KC’s Super Bowl wins with Patrick Mahomes at the helm have been by at least three points. The Chiefs will win and cover the 1.0-point spread in New Orleans this Sunday.

Point Total Over 48.0 (-109)

Two years ago, Kansas City and Philly combined for 73 points in the Chiefs Super Bowl 57 victory. The oddsmakers have the total for this Big Game rematch set at 48.0 points.

Part of the reason for the low total point projection is that both of these teams have great defenses. Philly allowed 17.8 PPG in the regular season, second-fewest in the NFL. KC finished with the fourth-fewest, allowing 19.2 PPG.

Both teams have allowed slightly more points per game against their playoff opponents. Philly is allowing 18.3 PPG in the playoffs, and KC has given up 21.5 PPG in its two playoff games. Kansas City has also allowed at least 20 points in its last four Super Bowl appearances.

With that in mind, I recommend taking the over on 48.0 total points for this Super Bowl rematch. I doubt they will combine for 70+ points again, but they will at least get to 49 total points on Super Bowl Sunday.

Patrick Mahomes Wins Super Bowl MVP (+115)

Betting on the Super Bowl MVP is among the most popular wagers for the annual Big Game. Mahomes is the betting favorite to claim MVP honors at +115 this year. Mahomes won the MVP during the three previous championship runs he has spearheaded in KC.

The MVP almost always goes to a player on the winning team, with the lone exception being Chuck Howley’s MVP in the Cowboys’ Super Bowl 5 loss. It has been over 50 years since Howley won it as a losing player, so it is safe to say the MVP is going to a player from the winning side.

Kansas City will win Super Bowl 59, and, as the quarterback, Mahomes has a distinct advantage over his teammates. Of the previous 58 Super Bowl MVPs, 33 have been quarterbacks of the winning team. When the Chiefs win, Mahomes will also seal his fourth Super Bowl MVP award.

Saquon Barkley Scores a Touchdown (-250)

Kansas City is not the only team competing in New Orleans this weekend. Philly fans have plenty of exciting bets to choose from for their favorite Eagles players. My best Super Bowl bet for any Philadelphia player is for Saquon Barkley to score a touchdown (-250).

Barkley has the shortest odds of any player in TD scoring Super Bowl 59 props. The next closest players are Jalen Hurts (-150), Kareem Hunt (+115), and Travis Kelce (+115).

The Chiefs will do their best to stop Barkley on Sunday. KC has one of the best run-stuffing defenses in the league, allowing just 4.1 YPC in the regular season, tied for fifth-fewest in the league. They have also not allowed a 100-yard rusher in their last 18 playoff games.

KC can stop Barkley from racking up yards on Sunday but keeping him out of the endzone is a different challenge. Barkley already has seven rushing scores in the playoffs, and Philly’s offensive game plan will center on getting him the ball. Barkley is unlikely to have a great day, but he should score at least once in his Super Bowl debut.
