If you’re wondering what the biggest casino in the world is, that would be the Venetian Macau on the Cotai Strip. It is more than 540,000 square feet and has an absurd amount of slot machine games to play.

Venetian Macau is the flagship location for the Sands Resorts in Macau. It is modeled after the Venetian Las Vegas, complete with its own canal with gondola rides.

While it is similar to the Las Vegas location, Venetian Macau is significantly bigger. In fact, Venetian Macau is the world’s biggest casino.

It has nearly 550,000 square feet of gaming space, plus almost 10 million square feet for hotels, conventions, and entertainment. The resort features 6,000 slot machines and 800 table games.

Chinese gamblers tend to be more interested in table games like baccarat, poker, and sic bo, so it makes sense that this casino devotes so much of its floor space to tables.

Many other sites claim that Venetian Macau is the second-biggest casino in the world. WinStar World Casino has more slot machines, so many people assume it’s bigger. Still, if you are comparing actual floor space dedicated to casino games, Venetian Macau gets the title.

While you know this is the biggest casino out there, it’s still smart to see how it measures up to other casinos, both figuratively and literally.

I’ll go over the other top casinos in terms of size, but you should compare online casinos in terms of what they have to offer anytime you’re thinking about betting, too.

Wynn Palace is one of two resort casinos in Macau that Wynn Resorts operates. This casino has more Chinese flair, while Wynn Macau is similar to the upscale Wynn Las Vegas.

With 424,000 square feet, Wynn Palace just beats out City of Dreams for third place on the list of the biggest casinos in the world. However, while Wynn Palace may have more space, City of Dreams has a few more games.

More than 1,100 slots and 400 table games at Wynn Palace. But you better have your ATM card handy if you want to play here. Most of the Wynn Palace baccarat tables have a minimum of $300 per hand!

Needless to say, you may want to brush up on your casino strategies before betting there.

City of Dreams is another massive Macau casino with 420,000 square feet of dedicated gaming space. That makes it the fourth-biggest casino in the world.

This casino is separated into three main gaming areas, but there are also several high-limit rooms. It has 1,500 slot machines, but most gaming space is dedicated to 450 tables.

You will find several online lists of the biggest casinos in the world that put City of Dreams ahead of Wynn Palace because of that difference.

If you were to visit Venetian Macau, you might stop by to see City of Dreams. The two casinos are across the street from each other. City of Dreams is easily identifiable by its Zaha Hadid Architects’ Morpheus building design.

It is an impressive casino, but it would be even more impressive if it had more games.

Galaxy Macau is the fifth-biggest casino in the world. At 400,000 square feet, it is just 20,000 square feet smaller than the City of Dreams.

Surprisingly, this casino has even more games than the City of Dreams and Wynn Palace.

They have one VIP room with 50 tables and 100 slot machines. Everything else is spread out on the casino floor without any dividers or rooms sectioned off.

If you ever get the chance to visit Galaxy Macau, you will want to walk through the casino and hotel lobbies. They have several crystal art exhibits designed, including a 3-meter Fortune Diamond.

Local superstitions claim that these crystals can give you luck and fortune if you wave your hands in front of them.

Surely the next US casino on the list is the biggest casino in Las Vegas, right? Wrong.

The second-biggest casino in the US is the Foxwoods Resort in Ledyard, Connecticut. It is another tribal casino and happens to be the oldest casino to remain on this list of the largest casinos in the world.

Foxwoods was the world’s biggest casino from 1992 to 2007. WinStar World Resort completed its first expansion in 2007, overtaking Foxwoods for the top spot until casinos in Macau exploded.

Now, Foxwoods Resort is the second-biggest casino in America and sixth largest worldwide.

While Foxwoods has less space, it also has more slot machines than the three casinos before it on this list. You can enjoy 3,500 slot machines and 250 table games spread across six casino plazas.

The resort also has keno games, a bingo hall, and a poker room.

Back in Macau, the second Wynn resort takes seventh place on my list of the largest casinos in the world. At 273,000 square feet, Wynn Macau just barely beats Ponte 16.

As of 2018, Wynn Macau has just over 800 slot machines and 317 table games. That number does not include the tables in poker.

There are only eleven poker tables in the poker room, but Wynn Macau is the only casino in the Northern part of Macau with a poker room.

Similar to Wynn Palace, the table games at Wynn Macau have steep minimum bets. Many tables require you to bet at least $500 per hand for baccarat, sic bo, and blackjack, but some tables start with minimums of $2,000.

Keep in mind that these minimums are in the Macanese Pataca currency, so a $2,000 bet in Macau equals approximately $250 in the US.

Wynn Macau may not be the answer to “What is the largest casino in the world,” but they might have comparable bankroll to the ones above it.

Ponte 16 is the eighth-largest casino globally, but it is only 3,000 square feet smaller than Wynn Macau. However, despite having such a large casino floor, Ponte 16 only has around 300 slot machines and just over 100 table games.

You would expect one of the world’s largest casinos to have more games than that.

Those VIP rooms are included in the square footage of the casino, but the casino does not advertise the number of games available in each one. So, there are more games available, but we don’t know how many more.

If you get the chance to visit Ponte 16, you can take some time to admire the historical architecture that reflects Macau’s unique European and Chinese history.

The more exciting attraction is the collection of Michael Jackson paraphernalia on display throughout Ponte 16, including the glove he wore for his first televised moonwalk.

The largest casino in Africa is the Rio Casino Resort in South Africa. It also happens to be the ninth-biggest casino in the world. Rio Casino has the main casino floor with 374 slot machines and 12 tables.

It also has a VIP room with 46 additional slot machines and two extra tables. Finally, the Escapades Theater has 42 of the latest slot machines.

Sands Macau has one primary casino floor with nearly 1,400 slot machines in the same area, not to mention the 740 table games.

As a result, you will have more variety at Sands Macau, but this casino does not have as many restaurants and amenities as some other casinos on this list.

Square footage seems to be the critical factor that most people use to determine the biggest casino in the world. But many of these casinos have a limited number of games, despite their massive floor space.
