The Ohio State Buckeyes are heavy favorites in the current College Football National Championship odds. They will face Notre Dame on Monday, January 20th, at Mercedez-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.

This guide will break down the latest odds for this year’s CFP title game. I will highlight the best bets for Monday’s game and give my College Football National Championship predictions.

Ohio State faces Notre Dame in this year’s National Championship game. Above are the latest college football national title odds, courtesy of Bovada.

Notre Dame is an 8.0-point underdog in the updated college football title odds. The Fighting Irish have a great defense, but the Buckeyes have the most talented offense in the country. Ohio State’s defense is full of future NFL draft picks, too, and could wreak havoc on Notre Dame’s offense.

Bettors should not count out the Fighting Irish, though. Ohio State’s win over Texas was less dominant than the final score suggests. Ohio State will be in trouble if Notre Dame can lock down Jeremiah Smith without sacrificing its run defense.

Why is Ohio State the NCAAF Title Favorite?

The Buckeyes entered the playoffs as the #8 seed and faced a tough opening matchup against Tennessee. Ohio State dominated the Volunteers, winning 42-17. They followed that game with another dominating win over #1 Oregon, 41-21, and became the CFP title favorites at most college football betting sites.

Will Howard and company had a tougher time against Texas in the semifinals. Ohio State had a 21-14 lead with two minutes left, and Texas was in scoring position at the 17-yard line. Then, Jack Sawyer returned a Quinn Ewers fumble 83 yards for a score, securing the 28-14 win.

Ohio State’s other three scores all came via their running backs. Quinshon Judkins had running scores of nine and one yards, and TreVeyon Henderson took a screen pass 75 yards for a touchdown to give the Buckeyes a touchdown lead at halftime.

Star freshman Jeremiah Smith had a quiet day, but Judkins and Henderson made up for the Buckeyes’ lack of a passing attack. Notre Dame has one of the best run defenses in the country, so Henderson and Judkins will have a tougher time moving the ball.

If Howard struggles to move the ball through the air again, Ohio State will be in trouble. On the bright side for OSU fans, the Buckeyes have the better roster on paper, and their defense has smothered every opponent they have so far in the playoffs.

Why Notre Dame Can Stage the Upset

Notre Dame has been the most surprising team in this year’s CFP playoffs. The Fighting Irish were listed at +600 odds, sixth-best, to win the Natty at the start of the 12-team playoff.

They were also available at 4-1 odds, which was the third-best, to win their side of the bracket.

Marcus Freeman and the Fighting Irish have already cashed the latter, beating Penn State 27-24 on a game-winning field goal in the semifinals. Notre Dame also took down Indiana and Georgia in this year’s postseason to advance to the National Championship game.

Now, they face Ryan Day and the Buckeyes, who have a history of coming up short in big games.

Notre Dame’s run has largely been powered by its defense. Quarterback Riley Leonard has not thrown for more than 225 yards in any game this postseason. The Fighting Irish have also not had a rusher gain more than 80 yards in their last two games.

Leonard and the offense have won shootouts before, but Ohio State is on another level. If Notre Dame’s defense can put the clamps on Ohio State’s offense, then the Fighting Irish have a chance. Otherwise, it will be a long day for Notre Dame fans.

Best 2025 CFB National Title Game Bets

  • Ohio State -8.0 (-110) – Bet Now
  • Total score over 46.0 (-110) – Bet Now

Ohio State arguably has the best roster in college football, and it has shown that it can win in different ways this postseason.

The Buckeyes have also eliminated two other championship favorites, Oregon and Texas, to advance to the title game.

Notre Dame has been a great story this season, but the Buckeyes will be too much to handle on Monday. Ohio State has won every playoff game this year by at least 14 points, and that streak will continue against Notre Dame.

The total score will also exceed 46.0 points, with the Buckeyes accounting for at least 35 points themselves. Every National Championship game since 2014, the final year of the BCS, has exceeded a total of 46 points.

Top College Football National Championship Props

  • Quinshon Judkins anytime TD scorer (-125) – Bet Now
  • Riley Leonard has over 36.5 rushing yards (-115) – Bet Now
  • Jeremiah Smith has over 5.5 receptions (+125) – Bet Now

In addition to betting on who will win the College Football National Championship, Bovada offers thrilling prop bets.

My top player prop for this year’s CFP title game is for Quinson Judkins to score a touchdown (-125). Judkins had two scores against Texas and has four touchdowns so far in the playoffs.

I also think that Riley Leonard will cover his rushing total of 36.5 yards. Leonard has had at least 11 rushing attempts in every playoff game, and his scrambling will be key to keeping the OSU defense on its toes.

Last but not least, I expect Jeremiah Smith to have over 5.5 receptions on Monday. Smith had the worst game of his collegiate career in Ohio State’s win over Texas, catching just one pass for three yards. He will bounce back on Monday and catch at least six passes against Notre Dame.

Tips for Betting on the NCAAF Title Game

Betting on this season’s College Football National Championship odds is even more fun when you win. Here are three tips to help you improve your football betting strategy and maximize your chances of winning your CFP wagers for Monday’s title game.

Shop for the Best Odds

The best way to get the most out of your college football wagers is to shop for the best odds. Comparing odds at secure sports betting sites will help you maximize your winning potential. The National Championship is a major event in college football, so plenty of sportsbooks offer odds on the game.

Take Advantage of Promotional Bonuses

Another tip for betting on the upcoming National Championship game between Ohio State and Notre Dame is to use promotional sports bonuses and events. Bovada, for instance, offers new members up to $1,000 in extra funds for betting on the CFP with its new member bonus.

Some sportsbooks are even running special betting contests for this year’s CFP title game. BetOnline, for example, has a $10,000 College Bowl Pick’em contest for this year’s National Championship. Promotions and bonuses are a great way to get more out of your college football bankroll.

Study Previous Playoff Games

Proper preparation will help you pick the right wagers to bet on for this year’s CFP National Championship. Football can be unpredictable, but studying the previous performances of Notre Dame and Ohio State will increase your chances of making winning bets.

You do not need to speedrun the entire season, either. Both the Buckeyes and the Fighting Irish played three playoff games to earn their spots in the championship game. Rewatching their previous postseason games can give insight into how well Ohio State and Notre Dame will fair under playoff pressure.

2025 College Football National Championship Prediction

The Buckeyes are the betting favorite in this season’s College Football National Championship odds. Notre Dame has exceeded expectations this season, but they will be no match for the Buckeyes on Monday. Ohio State will win on Monday, claiming the Buckeyes’ first National Championship since 2014.

As mentioned above, I also think Ohio State will cover the 8.0-point spread. All but two of the Buckeyes’ wins this season have been by more than 14 wins or more, including their three playoff victories.
