  • Gamblers especially love dinosaur slots, and I found five to play at top online casinos like El Royale.
  • One Million Reels BC at Slots and Casino has 5 pay lines and offers a progressive jackpot.
  • T-Rex has an excellent 97.5% RTP, and a wild symbol that doubles the value of any pay line.

Ever since Jurassic Park hit the theatres three decades ago, the entire world has been fascinated with thunder lizards, poison-spitting raptors, and of course, the king of them all, the Tyrannosaurus Rex.

So, of course, casinos have labored mightily to develop slot machines that excite gamblers with the chance of big wins but the opportunity to engage in some flights of prehistoric fantasy and wonder.

I’ve found five solid entries into the Dinosaur Slots Hall of Fame (visit our gift shop!) that slot fans can enjoy.

Although you can find many of these games at virtually any online casino in the USA, I’ve included a good, vetted list of sites that hosts each one for your convenience.

One Million Reels BC

One Million Reels BC
  • Software: Rival Gaming
  • RTP: 94.14%
  • Release Date: March 1, 2021
  • Pay Lines: 5
  • Betting Limits: 25 cents to $3.75 (1 to 3 coins, 1 to 5 lines)

Kicking off my list of great dinosaur slot games is this three-reeler from Rival Gaming.

One Billion Reels BC has excellent (though limited) animation and some solid artwork behind it, even though it mixes human beings with dinosaurs. Still, hey—Hollywood’s been doing that for years.

As you might expect, there’s not much complexity to this slot or its payment methods. Still, a very sweet progressive jackpot is on the line here, so let’s look at the playing field.

The regular symbols here are a cavewoman, a caveman, a yellow dinosaur egg, a green dinosaur egg, and a purple-striped dinosaur egg.

The wild symbol is the Tyrannosaurus Rex, which can trigger a 2x multiplier (one on a pay line), a 4x multiplier (two on a pay line), or the big kahuna: 3 Tyrannosaurus Rex symbols on a payline wins you the progressive jackpot—but be sure you’re wagering the max bet because otherwise, no joy in Mudville, my friend.

If you like dinosaur themed slots, you’ll love One Million Reels BC, so play now at Slots and Casino.

Spinosaurus

Spinosaurus
  • Software: Booming Games
  • RTP: 95.51%
  • Release Date: April 16, 2020
  • Pay Lines: 20 (fixed)
  • Betting Limits: 20 cents to $200

Unlike the Jackpodactyl or the Kenosaurus, the Spinosaurus actually existed a bazillion years ago.

This aquatic predator was probably named by proud parents who hoped he’d grow up to become the T-Rex of his day.

Sadly, the Spinosaurus would probably have lost to a T-Rex (had the two lived during the same time, which they did not), but the battle would have been spectacular.

This 5×3 slot from Booming Games ticks all the boxes dinosaur slot games need to check. And it does a good job conjuring up a whole menagerie of prehistoric terrors.

Regular symbols include a triceratops, a spinosaurus, a velociraptor, and a t-rex—and four additional symbols of a preserved footprint of each of those dinosaurs.

As far as special symbols are concerned, there’s a volcano scatter, three or more of which trigger free spins, the number of which is the sum of the individual numbers on each of the volcanos. If there are fewer than three triggers, they serve as wilds.

A pterodactyl also flies across the reels randomly, dropping between 0 and 15 wild egg symbols.

Additionally, the minor symbols of the footprints preserved in clay can be “upgraded” to the major symbols each footprint pertains to.

This happens at random times during free spins and begins with a huge animation of one of the dinosaurs stampeding across the screen, converting minor symbols to major symbols, as dinosaurs were known to do.

T-Rex

T-Rex
  • Software: RealTime Gaming
  • RTP: 97.5%
  • Release Date: March 17, 2009
  • Pay Lines: 1 to 25
  • Betting Limits: one cent to $25 (1 to 25 lines, 1 cent to $1 per line)

Speaking of being fresh out of bubblegum, the Tyrannosaurus Rex probably wasn’t very good at cuddling or babysitting, but he was hella good at terrorizing all the nerdier dinosaurs in the vicinity.

This 5×3 video slot from RTG is a veritable tour guide to when dinosaurs (and Raquel Welch, if Hollywood is to be believed) walked the Earth.

Parenthetically speaking, I think all slots with dinosaur themes could be improved with Raquel Welch featured on the reels. That said, what actually does appear on the reels of T-Rex are a triceratops, a stegosaurus, an ankylosaurus, a leafy fern, and the nine through ace.

Special symbols are T-Rex and a cracking egg, which serves as a scatter to improve line wins.

T-Rex only appears on reel three (the center reel) and serves as a wild that also doubles the value of any pay line in which he participates.

By the way: T-Rex is what you might consider the Elvis of the dinosaur world, so you find him popping up on lots of other slot machine games, or you can simply head to Slots Empire.

Megasaur

Megasaur
  • Software: RealTime Gaming
  • RTP: 91%-97%
  • Release Date: August 18, 2014
  • Pay Lines: 25 (fixed)
  • Betting Limits: $1.25 to $5

Good, colorful illustrations give this 5×3 dinosaur slot from RTG its punch—well, that, and three quite sizeable progressive jackpots.

Those jackpots make this a standout, even among these other great dinosaur slot machines I’m touting.

Regular symbols are triceratops, dilophosaurus, pterodactyl, and the nine through ace.

The green megasaur and red megasuar are wilds, with the green megasuar appearing only on reel two and the red megasaur only appearing on reel four.

A moonlit volcano is the scatter symbol, three or more of which trigger a pick feature, where you select successive volcanoes to arrive at the total number of free spins you’ll receive.

It’s important to remember that your wager corresponds to the jackpot you are eligible to win during free spins (the only time you can win any of the progressives).

If your bet size is labeled “minor,” then you can only win the minor jackpot. Bet higher, and you can be in line to win the major jackpot, and betting the max makes you eligible to win the mega jackpot.

Incidentally, it takes three volcanos during free spins to win the minor, four volcanos to win the major, and five to win the mega jackpot.

If you think you can win some real money playing Megasuar, then head to El Royale Casino to play.

Cretaceous Park

Cretaceous Park
  • Software: Concept Gaming
  • RTP: 95%
  • Release Date: September 15, 2016
  • Pay Lines: 20 (fixed)
  • Betting Limits: 20 cents to $10 (1 to 5 coins, valued 1 cent to 50 cents)

The most sophisticated on my list of the best dinosaur slots is Cretaceous Park from Concept Gaming. The sweeping background music feels like what they might play during the end credits of a perfect adventure movie.

The regular symbols are a tyrannosaurus, triceratops, an ankylosaurus, parasaurolophus, and the ten through the ace—probably there, so we have something easy to pronounce.

A counter on the right side of the play screen tracks consecutive wins—get five in a row and score a 5x multiplier, which remains until a nonwinning spin occurs. Incidentally, even as the count goes up, the intermediate 2x, 3x, and 4x apply.

The special symbols are a Tyrannosaurus Rex skull that serves as a wild and announces its presence with authority whenever it appears—plus, it expands to fill the entire reel it appears upon.

Any five-of-a-kind on a pay line triggers a wheel bonus, which can differ depending on the value of the five-of-a-kind.

The game has plenty of feature action, and there’s still that random progressive jackpot to win, which can happen at the end of any regular spin.

MyBookie offers Cretaceous Park in their abundant slot machine category, so head to the site to play.
