Time Person of the Year headline, Zelenskyy left, Putin right with American money
  • Volodymyr Zelenskyy is the bookies’ favorite to be named Time Person of the Year 2022.
  • The Ukrainian president is joined by his nemesis, Vladimir Putin, in the current Time Person of the Year nominees.
  • Other candidates include Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and pro-abortion activists.

Voting has officially opened for the Time Person of the Year 2022.

It’s been a crazy year to be a human, right? From the COVID pandemic to the cost-of-living crisis, it seems most of us are learning to expect the unexpected. But for some extraordinary humans, their actions have left stronger stains on the fabric of time.

The names of some of these individuals can be found among the most popular Time Person of the Year 2022 predictions.

From Zelenskyy to last year’s winner, Elon Musk, someone must pick up the award when it is announced in December. You can have your say, of course, but the decision ultimately rests with Time magazine editors.

Another way to vote for Time Magazine Person of The Year 2022 is with your wallet. Head on over to one of our recommended sites that specialize in entertainment betting and make your pick.

Unsure who will be Time Person of the Year? If that’s the case, stick around, and I’ll cover the top odds and make a prediction you can take away with you today.

Current Time Person of the Year 2022 Odds

Volodymyr Zelenskyy-1000
The Ukrainian People+400
Vladimir Putin+900
Pro-Choice/Abortion Activists+2000
Queen Elizabeth II+2000
US Supreme Court+2000
Donald Trump+2400
Kevin McCarthy+2400
Mitch McConnell+2400
Elon Musk+4000

We’ve had a lot of interest in Zelenskyy’s odds of being Time Person of the Year in 2022; as you can see, Betway has the Ukrainian president as an outstanding candidate.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine was one of the biggest stories of the year. Of course, that political chess match is still ongoing. People are still watching from around with world, with many in awe of the former comedian’s rousing speeches.

Just behind Zelenskyy in the updated Time Person of the Year 2022 odds are The Ukrainian People. Sure, Zelensky is Ukrainian. But don’t go thinking you’ll get paid out for this pick and Zelenskyy on a technicality! These are two separate wagers.

If the 2022 Time Person of the Year odds for either of these selections aren’t doing it for you, perhaps Vladimir Putin might. At +900, a successful $100 bet on Putin would return a profit of $900.

I understand how the idea of a controversial figure like Putin winning Time Man of the Year 2022 might appear strange.

But a quick glance over the most surprising winners of the past might change your mind. The likes of Hitler, Stalin, Churchill, Kissinger, and Khomeini are all previous recipients of the award.

Remember one thing before betting on any of the Time Person of the Year 2022 nominees aboveit’s not a popularity contest. In the words of the magazine, the “prize” will go to the “person or group who had the greatest influence on 2022 – for better or worse.”

Let’s look at the most popular Person of the Year 2022 candidates. But if your mind is already made up, head on over to Betway and get your wager down!

Why Zelenskyy Is Favored to Win Time Magazine Person of the Year in 2022

In the words of Homer Simpson, “This contest is over; give that man the $10,000.”

Indeed, this is not America’s Funniest Home Videos. And with the tangible suffering of many of Ukraine’s people as a result of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, it would be more than a little crass to crack jokes at their expense. And I would not be best pleased to hear anyone making light of the situation.

Yet, we cannot escape the reasons why the all-out favorite is so meagerly priced. For many observers, the Time Person of the Year 2022 is Zelenskyy. And it would be nothing short of a shock for a sizeable portion of his cheerleaders to see anyone but the 44-year-old win the prize.

Then again, the Time Magazine Person of The Year 2022 award will not be a nod to the most popular candidate.

As shocking as it might be to read, Zelenskyy’s popularity is not universal. And I’m not talking just about Russians or Ukrainians who oppose his iron-fisted political stances.

Accusations of fraud, embezzlement, and alleged ties to controversial figures such as Ihor Kholomoisky have made him unpopular in some quarters.

Furthermore, the fact that the multi-millionaire leader has seen tens of billions of dollars sent by the US government—all while Americans struggle to put food on the table—goes against the popular narrative western media is pushing.

But again, this is not a popularity contest!

Zelenskyy, whether you love him or hate him, has made a phenomenal impact on 2022. So much so that online betting sites are taking bets on Ukraine joining the European Union.

Who would have thought that possible before Russia’s invasion?

Top Contenders for 2022 Time Person of the Year

  • The Ukrainian People (+400)
  • Vladimir Putin (+900)

The people of Ukraine are about as tough as they come.

With a history that dates back to circa 32,000 BC, the inhabitants of the eastern European nation have seen invasions, wars, and slaughter. One of its darkest periods came in the Soviet Famine of 1932-33 when the Holodomor “famine” wiped out an estimated 3-5 million of its people.

Like Ireland’s “Great Famine,” this was a man-made genocide engineered by their larger neighbor to the east.

Fast-forwarding through the past ninety years, the people of Ukraine understand their rich history and are proud of their culture. So much so that they remain defiant in the face of the corruption and blatant disregard for humanity shown to them from both sides of the border.

These people have suffered enough. Yet aren’t backing down. As a candidate for Time’s Person of the Year 2022, they have my vote. I’ll be honest in saying that.

Putin is another 2022 Person of the Year prospect to look out for. After all, without his involvement, we wouldn’t be discussing a Russian-Ukraine war.

Did you know you can bet on Putin stepping down as Russia’s leader as early as 2022? Check out those odds if you are interested in that prospect.

Best Value Bets for Time Person of the Year in 2022

  • Pro-Choice/Abortion Activists (+2000)
  • Queen Elizabeth II (+2000)
  • US Supreme Court (+2000)

There’s no way around itsome Time Person of the Year 2022 nominees will be controversial.

One of the most contentious subjects in the United States and, well, across the globe is abortion. There is a very strong case for pro-choice activists to be in with a chance of winning. At odds of +2000, a $100 bet on this collective group would pay out a profit of $2000 if they received the award.

A potential posthumous winner could be in line for Time Person of the Year 2022. That is, of course, England’s Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away in September.

Again, the British monarch was not popular with everyone. But the same could be said with any of the last Time Person of the Year winners over the past twenty-five years and beyond.

The efforts of the US Supreme Court could also spark debate.

The overturning of the Roe vs. Wade decision was instrumental in the attitudes of voters at this year’s midterm elections. Worth a bet? No doubt.

The same could be said with other political wagers at some of our top-rated betting sites. I’d recommend checking out the latest markets at BetUS if you are hungry for more odds.

Prediction for Who Will Win Time’s Person of the Year in 2022

Vladimir Zelenskyy

As with the inside lining of his school duffle coat in the 1970s, expect Zelenskyy’s name to be emblazoned on this year’s award.

With that said, the 2022 Time Person of the Year odds for the Ukrainian president is a little prohibitive. Whether you decide to look elsewhere for value is ultimately your call, but it might be fun to throw a spare dollar or two elsewhere.

That’s all for my Time’s Person of the Year 2022 betting preview. If you’d like to get involved this year, remember the advice I gave you earlier. Even better, read up on the following guide; it’s packed with super-useful information to help you make the right call.

Keep an eye out for other emerging betting markets with 2022 drawing to a close, too. I’ll leave you with a look at the 2023 Miss America beauty pageant.

I think the person (people) of the year should be World Central Kitchen. Feeding all the displaced people during these awful times and the risk in doing so.

Unlucky timing by posting this one week too early, right before the world saw the rise of Volodymyr Zelenskyy standing up not only for his country, but the whole world. There is no clearer choice.
