  • Once again, Max Verstappen is the No. 1 favorite to win the F1 GP race at the top sportsbooks.
  • Verstappen’s 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix odds are -410, but we may see a surprise at the Vegas Strip.
  • Fernando Alonso is a huge +4950 underdog, but the Spanish driver loves street races like the Vegas GP.

The 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix odds suggest this will be one of the most exciting events of the entire Formula One season.

There are several reasons, starting with the fact that this is the first F1 race in Las Vegas in 39 years. The 2023 Sin City GP will occur on Sunday, November 18, on a street circuit on the Strip.

Unsurprisingly, Max Verstappen – the driver who won 85% of the F1 races run in 2023 – is the man with the shortest Las Vegas GP odds (-410). However, the 2023 champ might decide to take it easy on Sunday, giving some other driver a chance to grab a win.

But who can it be? In the next section of my Las Vegas GP betting guide, I’ll show you what some of the world’s best oddsmakers think.

A thing explaining why the 2023 Las Vegas GP odds are closer than expected is that this is the penultimate race of the F1 season. This could be the key event for several drivers.

For example, Sergio Perez has a chance to prevent Lewis Hamilton from taking over the No. 2 spot in the F1 Drivers’ Championship standings.

A win on Sunday would almost certainly do that for Perez, but his 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix odds of +1550 suggest it’s not likely the Mexican driver will pull it off. Hamilton is more likely to do it with the Las Vegas GP odds of +1350. Lando Norris’ odds are even shorter (+875).

When it comes to dark horses, there’s Fernando Alonso – one of the best drivers when it comes to street races – who wants to challenge for a place in the top 3 of the F1 standings.

Another driver coming to Vegas with a huge motivation to do well is the only American competing in the 2023 Formula 1, Logan Sargeant. He has no illusions he can win on November 18, but he’s determined to win at least one point.

If you’d still like to back him to pull off one of the greatest upsets in the history of Formula 1, my advice is to do it at BetUS, where his Las Vegas GP odds are +50000.

BetUS is actually the sportsbook whose 2023Las Vegas Grand Prix odds you can see in the table above, and which I love for a plethora of reasons – great bonuses (e.g., 125% welcome bonus up to $2,500), fast payouts (Visa, AMEX, crypto, etc.), 24/7 customer support, and more.

Why Is Max Verstappen the Betting Favorite

Max Verstappen

Betting on Max Verstappen seems to be the key to winning money on Formula 1 in 2023. This guy has won 17 races so far.

I did some math – if you had bet $1,000 on the Red Bull Racing driver in each of the 20 races held so far in the 2023 F1 season, you’d now have a profit of over $1,200.

So, should you back him once again? I’m not so sure. Of course, he’s the best driver with the best car, but he’s already achieved all his goals for the 2023 Formula 1 season.

In fact, the only major motivation he has for the 2023 Las Vegas is to scratch another item off his list of races he needs to win.

My Las Vegas Grand Prix prediction is that Verstappen is not going to win, but oddsmakers disagree with me.

All the best F1 betting sites are giving super-short odds on the 3-time F1 champ, with BetOnline being the one that’s offering a slightly better price than others (-325).

Top 2023 Las Vegas GP Contenders

Bookies see Lando Norris as Max Verstappen’s main rival to win the inaugural Las Vegas F1 race, but I need to disagree again.

Sure, the McLaren driver is in great form, but I don’t think the 24-year-old is as good as some other drivers.

Among those are Sergio Perez and Lewis Hamilton, who I consider the main Las Vegas GP contenders. These guys need to go all-in on November 18, as the No. 2 spot in the F1 standings is at stake.

Sergio Perez (+1600)

Max Verstappen is the most likely candidate to win the first-ever Las Vegas race, but it wouldn’t mean much for him if he did it. However, his Red Bull Racing teammate Sergio Perez would do great with a win.

The Mexican is currently second in the F1 rankings with 32 points more than third-placed Lewis Hamilton. Winning the 2023 Las Vegas GP would mean creating a point gap Hamilton wouldn’t be able to bridge.

Sergio’s Las Vegas Grand Prix odds are +1600 at Everygame, so consider betting on this contender there.

Lewis Hamilton (+1375)

He needs to finish quicker than Perez on Sunday in order to stay in the competition for the No. 2 position on the F1 Drivers’ table. But that’s not his only motivation for the Vegas race.

The 7-time F1 Championship winner needs to win as many points as possible to ensure he doesn’t drop out of the Top 3 in the rankings. There are three drivers who could leapfrog him by the end of the 2023 season – Fernando Alonso, Lando Norris, and Carlos Sainz.

My Favorite 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix Sleeper

I honestly don’t understand why Fernando Alonso’s Vegas GP odds aren’t shorter. He’s priced at +4950 at BetUS, meaning that you can make a $495 profit on a $10 bet. I think that’s a great incentive to back the Spaniard.

Another reason I think betting on Alonso wouldn’t be crazy is because this guy needs a win to break into the top 3 in the F1 standings. He’s motivated to win in Sin City, but does he have the skills to do so?

I think he does, the evidence being that he’s done very well in the previous seven street races of the 2023 season:

  • Saudi Arabian GP (March 19) – Third place
  • Australian GP (April 2) – Third place
  • Azerbaijan GP (April 30) – Fourth place
  • Miami GP (May 7) – Third place
  • Monaco GP (May 28) – Second place
  • Canadian GP (June 18) – Second place
  • Singapore GP (September 17) – Fifteen place

The reason why Alonso had such a disappointing finish in Singapore is that he received a penalty for entering the pit too early. He did very well in all the other street races, finishing on the podium on five occasions in 2023.

Alonso is without a win this season, but I feel as if that could change in Vegas. Actually, it’s been a while since he won a race the last time. It happened more than a decade ago, so he really is overdue.

If you think Fernando Alonso makes for a great Vegas GP sleeper pick, bet on his odds at BetUS.

Winner Prediction for the 2023 Las Vegas GP

Although it’s counterintuitive to bet on a guy who hasn’t won a single race in almost 3,850 days, I will still put my money on Fernando Alonso.

Of course, I’m not going to go crazy with this bet. A $10-20 stake on Alonso winning the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix seems perfectly reasonable.

I’m going to go big on some Formula 1 props, though. BetOnline lets you bet against Max Verstappen. The odds of a driver other than Verstappen winning are +250, so visit BetOnline.

It can be his Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez, the No. 2 favorite Lando Norris, the street circuit expert Fernando Alonso, or some other driver. The only thing that matters is that Verstappen doesn’t win.
