Odds to Win the NFL MVP Award in 2024-25
Bovada Sportsbook has been the best place to bet on the NFL MVP winner all season. Here are the latest odds to win the MVP this season.
Player | 2024 NFL MVP Odds |
---|---|
Lamar Jackson | -350 |
Josh Allen | +250 |
Buffalo’s Josh Allen was a heavy favorite for his first MVP when the whistle blew on the final game of the regular season.
However, the announcement of the All-Pro teams for this season caused a significant shift in the odds for the NFL MVP.
The first-team All-Pro quarterback has won MVP every year since 2013. Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson earned first-team honors, while Allen was named the second-team All-Pro quarterback.
After the teams were announced, Jackson’s MVP odds shortened to -350 at top football betting sites.
It’s likely just a race of two, but it’s still arguably a tough one to call. Even if you know who you think will win the NFL MVP, you still want the best odds and a site you can trust. Bovada is that sportsbook.

Why Is Lamar Jackson the 2024 NFL MVP Favorite?
The reigning MVP is also not giving him his crown without a fight. Lamar Jackson won his second MVP last year and put together an All-Pro-worthy campaign this season.
Jackson’s dual-threat ability has helped lead the Ravens to a 12-5 record in the regular season. His play helped Baltimore win four consecutive games to end the year and win its second consecutive AFC North title.
A few of Jackson’s notable stats this year include:
- 4,172 passing yards (6th)
- 8.8 yards per pass attempt (T-1st, min. 100 attempts)
- 41 passing touchdowns (T-2nd)
- 4 interceptions
- 915 rushing yards (1st among QBs)
- 4 rushing touchdowns (9th among QBs)
Despite the Ravens’ struggles through the first three-quarters of the season, Baltimore played well enough to win down the stretch. Jackson was a major factor in the team’s year-end success and was named to the first-team All-Pro roster.
Betting on the first-team All-Pro quarterback for MVP has been a winning football betting strategy over the last decade. However, the Ravens had six All-Pro players, including Derrick Henry, so Jackson’s “value” stands out less
Can Josh Allen Deliver the Upset?
Jackson jumped to the top of MVP odds boards after he was announced as the first-team All-Pro quarterback. However, bettors should not forget about the former favorite, Josh Allen.
Allen has been a popular NFL MVP pick in recent years, but the weight of expectations had proven too much for the Bills’ quarterback. After an offseason full of roster turnover, fans and the media had significantly lower expectations for Allen and company this year.
Here are some of Allen’s stats from this year’s regular season:
- 3,731 passing yards (14th)
- 63.6% completion percentage (28th, min. 100 attempts)
- 28 passing touchdowns (T-7th)
- 77.5 QBR (1st)
- 101.4 passer rating (8th)
- 531 rushing yards (5th among QBs)
- 12 rushing touchdowns (2nd among QBs)
His season-long stats do not blow anyone away, but Allen has proven his value this season. He lacks a true superstar at any skill position, and many of the pieces around him have been banged up this year.
Unlike Jackson, Allen did not have any of his teammates join him in winning first or second-team All-Pro honors. Allen also did something no other quarterback could do this year: beat Patrick Mahomes.
He led Buffalo to a win over the Lions in Detroit as well. Allen and company were the only team to beat both number-one seeds this season.
Top NFL MVP Sleeper Pick
The only other player I recommend betting on for MVP this year is Saquon Barkley. He helped guide the Eagles through their passing struggles this year, carrying the team and racking up 2,000 rushing yards along the way.
There are two major hurdles between Barkley and the MVP award. First and foremost, no non-quarterback has won the award since Adrian Peterson claimed MVP honors in 2012. Also, Barkley and the rest of Philadelphia’s starters sat out Week 18, so he did not get a chance to break the single-season rushing record.
Despite not breaking the record and the bias among voters, Barkley did collect impressive stats this year, including:
- 2,005 rushing yards (1st)
- 13 rushing touchdowns (8th)
- 82 rushing first downs (3rd)
- 17 runs of 20+ yards (2nd)
- 125.3 rushing yards per game (1st)
He is unlikely to win the MVP even with a near-record-setting season. On the other hand, a small bet on Barkley for MVP could have massive returns if he steals the award from Jackson and Allen.
Tips for Betting on the NFL MVP Winner
Looking at the latest NFL MVP betting odds is the first step to submitting a winning bet for this market, but more goes into the process.
If you’re new to betting on who will win the NFL MVP, consider these helpful tips before finalizing your wagers at Bovada or other online sportsbooks.
Place Your Bets Early
The first piece of advice I have for anyone betting on who will win the NFL MVP is to get your bets in early.
It’s anyone’s guess who actually wins the award, but the value you see now is probably as good as it’ll get. As the season wears on, the favorite is increasingly more likely to get the nod.
Should another lesser known player rise up in the first few weeks, their astronomical price could evaporate in short order. If you feel really good about a bet to win the NFL MVP, act now.
Bet on Quarterbacks
The other thing is you need to bet on a quarterback to win this award. Christian McCaffrey gave NFL MVP voters every reason to buck the trend last year – his team was awesome, he broke a record, and he had 21 total touchdowns.
However, they didn’t budge, and once again chose a quarterback who maybe wasn’t even the rightful winner.
This has turned into a quarterback award, so any non-passer would need the season of a lifetime to have any kind of a chance. The safe bet is to target elite quarterbacks on good teams.
Past NFL MVP Winners
Lamar Jackson is searching for this third career MVP and his second in as many years. Josh Allen, conversely, is looking to become the first Bills player to win the award since Thurman Thomas took home the MVP in 1991.
Here are the last 10 players to win the NFL regular season MVP.
Year | NFL MVP Winner | NFL Team |
---|---|---|
2023 | Lamar Jackson | Baltimore Ravens |
2022 | Patrick Mahomes | Kansas City Chiefs |
2021 | Aaron Rodgers | Green Bay Packers |
2020 | Aaron Rodgers | Green Bay Packers |
2019 | Lamar Jackson | Baltimore Ravens |
2018 | Patrick Mahomes | Kansas City Chiefs |
2017 | Tom Brady | New England Patriots |
2016 | Matt Ryan | Atlanta Falcons |
2015 | Cam Newton | Carolina Panthers |
2014 | Aaron Rodgers | Green Bay Packers |
2024 NFL MVP Prediction
● Lamar Jackson (-350) – Bet Now
Lamar Jackson’s status as the first-team All-Pro quarterback gives him a significant advantage in the MVP race. However, I think Allen (+250) is still the best bet to win the award. He is more ”valuable” to his team and is the only Bills player to earn All-Pro honors.
Bovada also offers exciting Super Bowl 59 betting odds. You can wager on props for the Big Game, including Super Bowl MVP. The regular season MVP usually does not win the Lombardi, but Patrick Mahomes claimed regular and Super MVP honors in 2022.
