Top Week 4 NFL Picks Against the Spread
Four of my five NFL picks against the spread in Week 4 are road teams I believe will cover this weekend. There should be fewer upsets as teams shake off the rust from the offseason. However, I am picking three underdogs to cover their spreads in Week 4.
Continue reading to see my favorite NFL picks ATS for this week. I will tell you my five favorite spreads for Week 4 based on the latest odds from top NFL betting sites.
The odds for these specific NFL expert picks against the spread were provided by Bovada Sportsbook.
Dallas Cowboys (-4.5) vs. New York Giants (+4.5)
Dallas was on the verge of another blowout loss at home in Week 3 but battled back and nearly completed the comeback win over the Ravens.
The Cowboys (1-2) fell short of the win, but they have a great chance to move to 2-2 this week against the Giants on Thursday Night Football.
New York is at home and is coming off its first win of the season, a 21-15 road win over the Browns. However, the Giants were blown out twice last year by the Cowboys, losing by a combined score of 89-17 in their two NFC East divisional matchups against Dallas.
The Cowboys are 8-1 in their last nine games against the Giants, including six straight wins. I think Dallas will add another win to their streak this weekend, and Bovada has Dallas listed as 4.5-point favorites on the road in New York.
Dallas needs a reset game, and there is no better opponent for the Cowboys than the Giants. The Cowboys will win this game in a dominant fashion, beating New York by at least a touchdown and covering the spread.
Denver Broncos (+7) vs. New York Jets (-7)
Another road team I recommend betting on in my NFL against the spread picks is the Denver Broncos.
Bovada has Denver as a 7-point underdog against the New York Jets this weekend. These AFC teams have had a heated rivalry in the last couple of years, and they are both coming off wins in Week 3.
Poor turf conditions could limit both teams in this game. It is rare to see two games played at the same stadium in less than a week, and MetLife has a notoriously bad field.
The Jets played well on both sides of the ball in their 24-3 win on TNF last week, but Denver should be a more formidable challenge. Rookie quarterback Bo Nix had the best game of his young career in Week 3, turning the ball over zero times and scoring a rushing TD in the team’s 26-7 win over Tampa Bay.
New York should win and improve to 3-1, but I do not think they will cover the 7-point point. Denver’s defense shut down Tampa’s high-scoring offense, and I think they will present a similar challenge for the Jets.
Pittsburgh Steelers (-2) vs. Indianapolis Colts (+2)
I bet against the Colts in my Week 3 NFL picks against the spread. Indianapolis covered their 3-point spread in their 21-16 win over the Bears. However, Indy’s success was primarily due to Chicago’s inability to run the ball.
The Colts’ defense was bad against the run in the first two weeks of the year, allowing a total of 474 yards on the ground against the Packers and Texans. Pittsburgh’s Offensive Coordinator, Arthur Smith, is nothing if not committed to the run, and the Steelers should be able to move the ball at will on the ground.
Sports betting sites have Pittsburgh as 2-point favorites on the road this weekend. The Steelers have covered in all three of their games this season, including twice on the road. They should cover again this weekend in Indianapolis.
Containing Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson is easier said than done, but Indy has looked out of sync on offense this year. However, Pittsburgh’s defense has only allowed a combined 33 points this year, the fewest in the NFL.
If they can step up again this week, the Steelers should be able to win by at least a field goal over the Colts.
Tennessee Titans (-1) vs. Miami Dolphins (+1)
Skylar Thompson’s first game as a start for the Dolphins this year could not have gone much worse. The Dolphins lost 24-3 on the road in Seattle, and Thompson left the game early with a chest injury.
It is unclear whether Thompson will be able to suit up for this MNF matchup or if it will be Tim Boyle under center for Miami.
Bovada listed Miami as a 1-point underdog at home for their Week 4 matchup against Tennessee. The Titans’ defense has played well, but their offensive struggles have prevented them from winning.
Before the season, I was not a Will Levis believer, and his play this year has validated my concerns. If Miami can field a quarterback, then they should be able to win this game outright at home. The Dolphins have one of the best NFL stadiums, and I expect Levis to struggle on the road.
Miami is one of the best NFL picks against the spread this week, even with a backup quarterback. Tennessee struggled to stop the run last weekend, and with Tua out, Miami will need to lean heavily on its rushing attack this week. The Dolphins should win outright, covering their 1-point spread.
Seattle Seahawks (+4) vs. Detroit Lions (-4)
The final spot on my free NFL picks against the spread for Week 4 goes to the Seattle Seahawks.
Seattle is a 4-point underdog this weekend as they take on the Lions in Detroit in the second of two MNF games this week.
The Seahawks are 3-0, while the Lions are 2-1 after picking up a win on the road in Arizona last Sunday.
Seattle has scored at least 23 points in all three games this year while holding opponents to 20 or fewer. Detroit, on the other hand, has only scored more than 20 points once this year, and the Lions needed overtime to do it.
The Lions offense has struggled in the early part of the season, but they should improve as the year progresses. Seattle’s defense has also faced relatively easy offenses in the Broncos, Patriots, and a Tua-less Miami team.
Detroit will be the toughest test the Seahawks have faced this year, but I believe Seattle can win this game outright. I recommend taking Seattle +4 in this special MNF double header matchup.
