The last UFC event of 2024 took place on December 14 and the next one isn’t on until January 11, 2025. Bellator, PFL, and most other organizations are taking a break over the holiday season as well.
So, what should MMA betting fans do in the meantime? Bet on Rizin 49: Decade!
The event is taking place in Saitama on New Year’s Eve, local time (JST). That’s early morning in the US (~6:00 a.m. start time), so you can get yourself in the party mode by watching the event live on Rizin.tv or Roku. And to take your viewing experience to the next level, you can bet on Rizin 49: Decade at MyBookie Sportsbook.
The odds are pretty good, particularly for the fighters involved in the three title bouts – Suzuki vs. Erbst, De Souza vs. Karamov, and Horiguchi vs. Nkazimulo Zulu.

Rizin 49: Decade Main Event Preview
Wonder why Chihiro Suzuki vs. Kleber Koike Erbst is the main event of Rizin 49: Decade? Because this is a battle for the Rizin Featherweight Championship, fought between two arch-rivals who already met once in a title fight.
This happened last year when we saw Erbst win by submission (armbar) – no surprise there as he’s a grappling maestro with a 2nd-degree black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
What is surprising is that he’s not the defending champ in 2024. This is because the win was overturned to no contest because Erbst missed weight.
From there, his opponent, Chihiro Suzuki went on to win the next three fights, each by KO/TKO. After destroying Bellator legend Patricio Pitbull on his Rizin debut, Suzuki got a shot at the title, which he took – he beat Vugar Karamov (who’s fighting for the lightweight title on December 31).
In his most recent fight, he defended the championship belt against Masanori Kanehara and is now determined to do the same against Erbst. Will he do it? Rizin 49 odds aren’t favoring him, but I think he can pull off an upset.
While he’s nowhere near Erbst when it comes to grappling, he’s superior in terms of striking. In fact, I think he might be the best Japanese striker right now.
Best Bets for 2024 Rizin New Year’s Eve Event
I’ve already explained why I think Chihiro Suzuki will win the Rizin Decade main event. Now it’s time to present you with my other two top MMA bets for December 31.
The first of those is that Hobert Satoshi Souza will beat Vugar Karamov. While “Vugi” is a very well-rounded fighter, he just doesn’t have as much experience as Souza.
Plus, the 35-year-old lightweight champ is an expert grappler who’s been practicing judo and BJJ for literally three decades.
I think he can wrap Karamov up like a sushi roll, and if that fails, he can destroy him with punches – both of his last two wins happened by KO/TKO.
Then, there’s Kyoji Horiguchi, who’s probably the safest Rizin 49 bet. He’s arguably the biggest MMA star in Japan, and there’s a reason for that – Horiguchi is a hell of a fighter.
His opponent, Nkazimulo Zulu, is nowhere near as good, but at least, he’s fun to watch. He loves to throw everything he’s got at his opponents, which has worked many times for him in the past.
It won’t work this time, though. I predict Horiguchi will flatten him quickly.
Top Rizin 49 Upset Pick
- Takagenji Satoshi Kamiyama to Beat Ed Polo King (+163) – Bet Now!
If you’re a fan of sumo wrestling, you might know who Takagenji Satoshi Kamiyama, a.k.a., Takakenshin. He’s a weed-loving Godzilla who used to weigh over 370 pounds just a few years ago.
His love for cannabis got him expelled from the Japan Sumo Association, so he decided to switch to MMA – and lose over 105 pounds.
His Rizin record is 1-3, but the good thing is that the win in question happened in his most recent fight. Another good news for him is that his Rizin 49 opponent, Ed Polo King, has never fought an MMA fight before.
Polo King did fight one kickboxing bout last year, but it was a decision win over a guy who hadn’t fought even a single amateur fight for almost four years.
If you think Takakenshin will beat him on New Year’s Eve, you can back him at Betway. This British betting site seems to be the only one offering Takakenshin vs. Polo King Rizin odds right now.
Rizin 49: Decade Predictions for All Fights
- Chihiro Suzuki to Beat Kleber Koike Erbst
- Roberto de Souza to Beat Vugar Karamov
- Kyoji Horiguchi to Beat Nkazimulo Zulu
- Seika Izawa to Beat Lucia Abdelgarim
- Razhab Shaydullaev to Beat Yuta Kubo
- Makoto Shinryu to Beat Jose Torres
- Karshyga Dautbek to Beat YA-MAN
- Koji Takeda to Beat Suguru Nii
- Tae In Kim to Beat Mikio Ueda
- Yusuke Yachi to Beat Taisei Sakuraba
- Takagenji Satoshi Kamiyama to Beat Ed Polo King
There you have it, my top Rizin 49 picks. As you can see, I’m backing favorites in most fights. In fact, there are only two picks with plus-money odds.
The first of those is Chihiro Suzuki, whose Rizin Decade odds suggest he’s got a pretty decent chance of defending his title belt. The other one is Takakenshin, a +163 underdog who I think will upset the odds.
For all the other fights on December 31, I’m pretty confident fighters with minus-money odds will win easily.
Betting on Rizin 49: Decade
The Rizin 49: Decade odds are out, so there’s nothing stopping you from placing some bets. My top pick is Chihiro Suzuki at +114, but if that’s too risky for you, there are plenty of “sure bets” to choose from – Roberto de Souza (-144), Kyoji Horiguchi (-490), etc.
My advice is to put them all together into a parlay, in which case, the total odds would be +336. What this means is that if you wager $100 on this, you can make a profit of $336 – you can buy a lot of New Year’s presents for that money!
