Why Are the Philadelphia Eagles Favored?
The Eagles stunned the Chiefs in Super Bowl 59, jumping out to a 34-0 lead in New Orleans.
Philly finished the job, defeating the two-time defending champions 40-22. Now, the Eagles are +600 favorites to repeat as Super Bowl champions.
Philadelphia’s defense was dominant on the big stage, and they should be even better next year as their young players will be more experienced. Their offense, on the other hand, will likely be on its fourth coordinator in as many years.
Kellen Moore is expected to take over the head coaching job in New Orleans. Changing coordinators is tricky, but the Eagles still have A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Saquon Barkley on offense. Having Super Bowl MVP Jalen Hurts under center also helps.
Top Super Bowl 60 Contenders
Philadelphia dethroned the Chiefs, and they are the favorites to win it all again next year. The next three teams in the opening Super Bowl 60 odds are all in the AFC.
Kansas City Chiefs (+650)
The Chiefs’ magic ran out one game short of completing their three-peat. Mahomes and the offense could not move the ball for the first 40 minutes of their Super Bowl 59 loss.
The bad news for fans of the other 31 teams is that the Chiefs now have the entire offseason to stew over their failure in the Big Game.
KC has the best odds of any team in the AFC to win Super Bowl 60. The Chiefs are listed at +650 odds to hoist the Lombardi next season in San Francisco.
Kansas City will be a Super Bowl contender as long as Mahomes is in his prime. If they can shore up their offensive line and add a playmaker on offense, the Chiefs will be one of the last teams standing once again.
Baltimore Ravens (+700)
Baltimore is also among the favorites to win Super Bowl 60 at 7-1 odds. The Ravens’ season ended in Orchard Park with their 27-25 loss to the Bills in the Divisional Round.
Lamar Jackson earned First-Team All-Pro honors but fell just short in MVP voting. If he can stay healthy for another season, then Baltimore is a good bet to win the AFC North. The Ravens also need Derrick Henry to have another dominant year in his age-31 season.
Making the playoffs is the first step, but Baltimore’s biggest hurdle has been actually winning postseason games. Jackson is 3-5 in the playoffs and has never won more than one playoff game in the same season.
Buffalo Bills (+800)
Rounding out the top four in the opening Super Bowl 60 odds are the Buffalo Bills. Josh Allen won the MVP this season, but the Bills came up short in the AFC title game. Allen is now the first quarterback to start 0-4 against another QB, Patrick Mahomes, in the playoffs.
Buffalo overachieved last season in many ways, which puts more pressure on its front office to build around Allen this year. The team needs a playmaker or two on offense, and its defense needs a lot of work.
The Bills’ biggest obstacle is the Chiefs, who have ended their season four of the last five years. If someone else clips KC, though, Buffalo’s path to its first Super Bowl win could open.
Best Super Bowl 60 Sleepers
San Francisco is listed at +1200 after a season derailed by injuries. If the 49ers can put their injury woes behind them, they will be a top team in the NFC once again.
Cincinnati and Washington are tied at 22-1 odds to win the Big Game next season. The Bengals started 1-4 and still almost made the playoffs. If Joe Burrow and company can avoid a slow start next year, they will be the team no one wants to face in the playoffs.
Washington was one the biggest surprises of last year, making it to the NFC Championship Game with Rookie of the Year Jayden Daniels at the helm. If Daniels can avoid a sophomore slump, he could lead Washington to a Super Bowl in year two, à la Big Ben and Russell Wilson.

Betting on Super Bowl 60
Bovada has competitive Super Bowl 60 odds for all 32 teams. Philadelphia is the betting favorite to repeat as champs, but I think the Chiefs (+650) are the best bet. No AFC team can stand with KC in the playoffs, and the Eagles are unlikely to get MVP-level seasons out of Barkley in back-to-back years.
