UFC 289 Odds with fighters in front of ring L-R: Charles Oliveira, Amanda Nunes, Irene Aldana, and Beneil Dariush
  • UFC 289 will occur on Saturday, June 10th, at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
  • Women’s MMA GOAT Amanda Nunes is expected to defend her bantamweight title as the headliner.
  • Former lightweight champ Charles Oliveira returns to the Octagon eight months after losing his belt.
  • Nassourdine Imavov and Chris Curtis will rip each other apart in the most exciting UFC 289 prelim.

The next UFC PPV event – UFC 289: Nunes vs. Aldana – is on the program on Saturday, June 10th, 2023.

The event will take place at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, which will be the first time in nearly four years that the UFC is staging an event in Canada.

The UFC’s return to Canada will be memorable, considering that the UFC 289 fight card looks incredible. If you look at the UFC 289 odds, you’ll see that oddsmakers expect to see some real battles inside the Octagon.

All this makes the UFC Vancouver ideal for betting. If you need help picking the right bets for the June 10th event, read my entire UFC 289 betting preview.

UFC 289 Main Card Preview

Amanda Nunes is the greatest female mixed martial artist of all time. She’s a two-division champ in the UFC – women’s featherweight and women’s bantamweight.

The latter is the weight class in which she’s defending her championship belt at UFC 289.

The challenger is Irene Aldana, who’s big and powerful with amazing kickboxing skills. Striking is her strongest weapon, but I think Nunes is even better.

Even though Aldana lands more significant strikes (5.39 per minute) than Nunes (4.40), she also misses way more.

Her striking accuracy is just 39%, meaning that despite her tendency to throw a huge volume of punches and kicks, only about one-third of them hit the opponent.

The reason why this is so important is that such a fighting style is bound to gas her out.

And the UFC 289 main event could last up to 25 minutes. The last time Aldana fought a five-round bout, she ended up losing to Holly Holm. I think the same scenario could happen in Vancouver.

The favorite should win the main event of the UFC 289, but we might see an upset in the co-main event. I’m a huge fan of Charles Oliveira, but who isn’t?

The guy holds the record for most finishes in the history of the UFC with 19. Sixteen of those happened by submission, and we could easily see the 17th happening on June 10th.

Sure, Beneil Dariush is a great grappler, but he’s nowhere near as good as Oliveira. In fact, I think that in 2023, only one man in the UFC could out-grapple “Do Bronx” – the reigning lightweight champ Islam Makhachev.

UFC 289 Prelims Picks

The UFC 289 action is supposed to start with the Miranda Maverick vs. Jasmine Jasudavicius fight.

The first bout of the evening should be an interesting duel, in which Maverick should win in the end, probably by points.

The 25-year-old Missouri native is a well-rounded fighter with a great gas tank, who is likely to get a much more attractive opponent next time, assuming she wins at UFC 289.

The next prelim to pay attention to is Khalil Rountree Jr. vs. Chris Daukaus. The two are going to have a kickboxing duel at UFC 289, as both are excellent strikers with limited wrestling and grappling skills.

Daukaus, who’s a former heavyweight, is more powerful than his opponent, but he’s nowhere near as agile as Roundtree Jr.

He also lost each of his three last fights by KO/TKO, which doesn’t necessarily qualify him as a glass-jaw fighter, but I’m 100% certain those losses have left some mental scars.

His subconscious will prevent him from risking much at UFC 289. Instead, he’ll try to outbox his opponent, which won’t go well – Rountree Jr. is way more agile than him.

It’s going to be an interesting fight, but not as interesting as the Nassourdine Imavov vs. Chris Curtis bout. Both guys are big middleweights famous for throwing everything they’ve got at their opponents.

I have no idea who will win this clash, but I’m sure we’ll witness a real battle inside the Octagon.

This is why my betting advice for this fight is to wait until the best MMA betting site releases its UFC 289 props.

Best Bets for UFC 289

  • Amanda Nunes to Beat Irene Aldana (-370)
  • Charles Oliveira to Beat Beneil Dariush (+105)
  • Miranda Maverick to Beat Jasmine Jasudavicius (-280)
  • Khalil Rountree Jr. to Beat Chris Daukaus (-245)

Amanda Nunes is the GOAT of women’s MMA, which should be good enough of a reason for everyone to back her.

If you need more persuading, you should also know that Irene Aldana hasn’t had much time to prepare for this fight.

The thing is that, originally, Nunes was supposed to fight her archrival Julianna Pena, but “The Venezuelan Vixen” pulled out of the UFC 289 headliner due to a rib injury.

Aldana couldn’t miss the opportunity to fight for the title and gladly accepted the offer. However, I just don’t see her as championship material.

Amanda Nunes is my safest bet for UFC 289, along with Miranda Maverick and Khalil Rountree Jr.

My favorite underdog bet is Charles Oliveira. If there’s someone on the UFC 289 card who can stage an upset, it’s the former lightweight champ.

Full UFC 289 Fight Card Predictions

  • Charles Oliveira to Beat Beneil Dariush
  • Mike Malott to Beat Adam Fugitt
  • Nate Landwehr to Beat Dan Ige
  • Marc-Andre Barriault to Beat Eryk Anders
  • David Dvorak to Beat Matt Schnell
  • Khalil Rountree Jr. to Beat Chris Daukaus
  • Chris Curtis to Beat Nassourdine Imavov
  • Hakeem Dawodu to Beat Lucas Almeida
  • Aiemann Zahabi to Beat Aori Qileng
  • Blake Bilder to Beat Kyle Nelson
  • Diana Belbita to Beat Maria Oliveira
  • Miranda Maverick to Beat Jasmine Jasudavicius

Those are my UFC 289 predictions for every single fight announced for the June 10th event. I’m picking favorites to win in most of the fights, with some notable exceptions.

Charles Oliveira is my favorite plus-money bet.

I also have two more underdog UFC 289 picks. The first one is Nate Landwehr versus Dan Ige. It sure seems like a longshot bet, but maybe the time has come for Ige to suffer his first-ever loss inside the distance?

I also think Chris Curtis might beat favored Nassourdine Imavov, but I wouldn’t put too much money on that fight, either.

Advice for Betting on UFC 289

Amanda Nunes is my favorite bet for the June 10th event, but right now, the Nunes vs. Aldana odds aren’t great. “The Lioness” is priced at -370, which means that to win $100, you need to bet $370.

I think that’s not a bad investment, but I’m sure many of you would prefer better odds.

The good news is that I think Amanda’s UFC 289 betting odds are bound to lengthen at one point.

Actually, I predict it’s going to happen during the fight. Nunes isn’t going to steamroll Aldana; she’s going to outsmart her.

I expect to see an even battle between the two in the early stages of the bout, which will make the UFC 289 odds move against Nunes.

My advice for you is to have a UFC betting app installed on your device so that you could back the GOAT if her odds move. Everything longer than -200 is a great catch in my eyes.
