UFC 308 Main Event Preview
You might not even be aware of this, but Illia Topuria (15-0) is a fantastic grappler with 8 of his 15 wins happening by submission. However, most of those happened before he joined the UFC in 2020.
In Dana White’s promotion, he’s got four wins by KO/TKO in 7 fights. In the last six of those, he landed either one knockdown or a knockout, which is another proof of how great his boxing is. But is it as great as Holloway’s?
“Blessed”, who is 26-7 overall, is landing 7.17 significant strikes per 60 seconds, which is among the highest numbers in the entire UFC. In fact, he’s 10th on the all-time list in strikes per minute.
He also gets hit a lot (4.72), which is why it’s really impressive that he’s still without a single loss by knockout or technical knockout.
I think he might survive another fighter with a KO loss. Still, I do think Topuria is more likely to win. One thing I’m 100% confident of is that whoever you want to back, you should do it at BetOnline.

If you’re after betting underdogs, you’ll be able to find some good bets as well. History teaches us that in UFC PPV events, surprises do happen. There were no major upsets last time around, even though I did predict some will happen in my UFC 307 preview.
As you’ll learn if you keep on reading, most of my UFC 308 predictions are that favorites will win, but I do have some longshots in mind as well.
The first of those is the 6’5 boxing maestro Nursulton Ruziboev who I think can beat Rinat Fakhretdinov, who I’m not too impressed with. Sure, he’s 22-1-1 overall, but his last fight was a split-decision win, and before that, he had a draw.
I also think Rafael dos Anjos may stage an upset. The former UFC Lightweight champ is an amazing grappler with the ability to submit almost any opponent, Geoff Neal included.

Those three are my best UFC bets. I’ve already explained why I think Topuria will win, so now’s the time to explain why Chimaev and Ankalaev are among my UFC 308 picks.
Robert Whittaker is everyone’s favorite fighter known for his peaceful demeanor outside the cage and for his charity work. Chimaev is just the opposite; he’s a fight-dodging bully who’s friends with Vladimir Putin’s henchman Ramzan Kadyrov.
That’s why I hate that my prediction is that he’ll beat Bobby Knuckles at UFC 308. But if you’re like me, you should bet on Khamzat as it’s a win-win situation. If he loses, great – a good guy has defeated a bad guy.
If Khamzat wins, you’ll feel sorry for Whittaker, but you can wipe your tears with the dollar bills you got from your UFC 308 bet.
In case that’s not good enough a reason to back Khamzat, you should know this – he never fights unless he’s 100% sure he’s going to win. That’s why his pro record is 13-0.
When it comes to Ankalaev, I think he beats Aleksandar Rakic by points. Rakic (14-4) might get dropped by the UFC if he loses again by stoppage. He’s not too fun to watch and with two straight losses, he’s far from the fighter he used to be.
But this doesn’t mean he’s lost his fighting skills. On the contrary, in each fight he’s fought so far in the UFC – including those he lost – Rakic gave real war to the opponent.
I think he’ll throw everything he’s got at Ankalaev, but the Dagestani will probably do the same. As a result, the fight will probably last for the full 15 minutes, after which the judges will score in Ankalaev’s favor. At least that’s my prediction.

There you have it, all of my UFC 308 predictions. I suspect betting favorites will get their job done relatively easily. This goes especially for guys like Sharabutdin Magomedov and Farid Basharat, who I expect to win inside the distance.
For most other three-round fights, I predict the judges will decide the winner. The fights I expect to go the distance include Ankalaev vs. Rakic, Whittaker vs. Chimaev, and Topuria vs. Holloway.
