The headliner bout itself makes UFC 309 a super-interesting event for bettors, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. There are 12 interesting matchups, all of which you’ll learn about if you keep on reading.

Did you know that three of Jon Jones’ last four fights lasted for 25 minutes? And one of those ended in a split decision. If the same happens on November 16, and your pick loses that way, you can get your bet back.
This is only possible if you bet on the UFC 309 main event at BetOnline, a sportsbook that has Split Draw Loss Refund among many other betting promos.
This isn’t the only reason why I think you should choose BetOnline. This betting site is offering great UFC 309 odds, even for major favorites. For example, Jon Jones’ odds are -700, which may seem too short, but most other sports betting sites are giving even shorter odds.

UFC 309 Main Event Preview
Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic is such a huge fight that I made a whole separate post for it. So, if you’re looking for an in-depth analysis of the UFC 309 main event, check out our Jones vs. Miocic preview.
That’s where you can find some bets with pretty good UFC 309 odds, including some props. On this page, however, I’ll stick to the fight-winner market. Actually, I’ll tell you my prediction straight away – I think Jon Jones will win.
Stipe Miocic is just another obstacle on his road to cementing the GOAT status. If this fight had taken place 10 years ago, it would’ve been close. However, in 2024, Miocic doesn’t seem capable of causing problems for Jones.
He’s 42 and he hasn’t fought since March 2021 when he suffered a nasty knockout loss to Francis Ngannou. The last time he won a fight was more than 1,500 days ago.
Best Bets for UFC 309
- Jonathan Martinez to Beat Marcus McGhee – Bet Now
- Nikita Krylov to Beat Azamat Murzakanov – Bet Now
- Charles Oliveira to Beat Michael Chandler – Bet Now
Michael Chandler is a big name in the MMA world, but I don’t see him as too big a challenge for Charles Oliveira. He’s 38 and is 2-3 since joining the UFC, with his most recent fight happening in 2022 when he lost by submission to Dustin Poirier.
I also think Nikita Krylov will derail the Azamat Murzakanov hype train. “The Professional” is 14-0, but if there’s someone who can end his winning run, it’s the No. 6 UFC Light Heavyweight, Krylov.
Jonathan Martinez is another fighter I think is going to win at MSG. Last May, his 6-fight winning run was ended by Jose Aldo. But he lost on Aldo’s turf (Rio de Janeiro) and the loss was by decision, which is another proof of how good “The Dragon” actually is.
Top UFC 309 Upsets
If your UFC betting strategy is to back underdogs, I’ve got some longshot picks for you. The first of those is Paul Craig whose UFC 309 odds of +600 make him a huge underdog.
In fact, if he wins on November 16, it’s going to be the seventh-biggest betting upset in the history of UFC history. Knowing this, you’re probably wondering why I’m backing “Bear Jew” to cause a sensation in New York.
It’s because the Scottish fighter is a real giant slayer, with wins over such favorites as:
- Magomed Ankalaev (-714 favorite)
- Jamahal Hill (-278)
- Nikita Krylov (-222)
- Andre Muniz (-250)
I also suspect Viviane Araujo might beat Karine Silva. “Vivi” is turning 38 a week after UFC 309, and this could be one of her final professional fights.
She lost three of her last four fights, but all of those were by decision against real elite opponents – Alexa Grasso, Amanda Ribas, and Natalia Silva. Karine Silva is younger and in better form, but I think “Vivi” can ruin her plans.
UFC 309 Prop Bets
- Jon Jones to Win Inside the Distance
- Bo Nickal vs. Paul Craig – Fight to End in Round 1
Jon Jones finished Cyril Gane last year after only 124 seconds. Stipe Miocic’s last fight saw him get KO-ed in the second round. It’s been more than three years since then, so his fighting abilities have probably diminished. Therefore, I don’t think he can survive for the full five rounds.
I also think the Bo Nickal vs. Paul Craig fight will be a short affair. Nickal is a hell of a wrestler, so he’ll look to get in the clinch with Craig, which will lead to a submission. Whoever finishes who, my prediction is that it will happen in the first round.
Need more convincing? You should know that five of Nickal’s six professional fights finished in Round 1.

There you have it, my top UFC 309 predictions. As you can see, I’m going with favorites to win in most fights, starting with Jon Jones, who I’m certain will get the job done relatively easily.
When it comes to underdogs, I’ll try with Paul Craig and Viviane Araujo, but I won’t put too much money on them. I advise you to do the same.
If you’re planning to go big on the November 16 event, you better wager your money on guys like Charles Oliveira and Jonathan Martinez. They’re almost equally likely to win, but their UFC 309 odds are much better.
Betting on UFC 309
With UFC 309 odds being up at BetOnline, nothing’s stopping you from placing some bets. Betting on the Jones vs. Miocic fight is a must if you consider yourself a passionate MMA fan, but which bet should you go for?
Jones to win is as certain bet as they come, but the UFC 309 odds for this bet aren’t that great. That’s why my advice is to combine this bet with other wagers.
I had a similar suggestion for the previous PPV event, and all parts of my parlay won, resulting in a +417 profit. You can get something similar if you back Jones, along with Martinez, Krylov, and Oliveira.
