Why on Earth did Dana White & Co. decide to give Kai Asakura a shot at the flyweight title on his debut? Not only is he a newcomer, but he’s also fighting in the flyweight division for the first time since 2017.

A possible answer is that the UFC wants to corner the East Asia market, where Asakura is a superstar. He’s a former Rizin champion who’s famous for his fast hands and incredible leg licks.

Asakura is a knockout maestro, but he’s fighting against a guy who’s never suffered a loss by KO. In fact, each of Pantoja’s five losses happened by decision. And they happened a long time ago.

It’s been almost 2,000 days since his most recent loss (vs. Deiveson Figueiredo), and since then, he’s defeated some really tough opponents. Actually, he’s got a 9-0 record against opponents from the Top 10 in the flyweight division.

Among those are former champions Brandon Moreno and Brandon Royval, as well as former title contenders, Steve Erceg and Alex Perez.

In his portfolio, he also has a win over Manel Kape, who’s one of the three fighters that beat Asakura in Rizin.

Best Bets for UFC 310

I’ve already explained why Alexandre Pantoja is a fantastic bet. Now, it’s time to present you with two more UFC 310 picks I’m confident will win.

Dominick Reyes is the first of those. He is 13-4, with all four of his losses happening from 2020 to 2022. It all started with the loss to Jon Jones in the title fight, which many believe Reyes won.

From there, he went on to lose three straight games, each by KO/TKO. Then, he took a two-year break before coming back to the Octagon to beat Dustin Jacoby by a first-round knockout. I predict he’ll do the same to Smith.

I also think Nate Landwehr will beat Choi Doo-ho, who’s not much of a fighter. The Korean is 15-4-1, which doesn’t seem too bad, but most of his wins happened in the Asian promotion DEEP.

Landwehr, on the other hand, is 18-5 with four wins in his last five UFC fights. In his most recent fight, he beat Jammall Emmers by a KO in the first round.

Top UFC 310 Upset Pick

Bryce Mitchell is 16-2 with 9 wins by submission, which is proof that he’s all about grappling. He’s not much of a striker, the evidence being that he’s got zero wins by KO/TKO, while one of his two losses happened that way.

Actually, it happened a year ago, and it was one of the most brutal knockouts I’ve ever seen. Josh Emmett literally destroyed his jaw with a super-powerful punch in Round 1 that left Mitchell convulsing on the ground.

History teaches us that fighters rarely recover from such devastating KO-es, but Mitchell is confident he’s gonna bounce back. But he also thinks the Earth is flat and Elon Musk is the devil.

So, why are his UFC 310 odds so short (they’re the shortest of all the fighters on the main card)? It’s because his opponent’s last win happened in the previous decade.

But Kron Gracie is back! And I think he’s going to surprise everyone. His striking was horrible in his last two outings, but he’s been training with Nate Diaz, who’s famous for being a hell of a boxer.

Plus, Mitchell will probably want to avoid a striking battle as he still probably has PTSD from that Emmett KO. Instead, he’ll look to take the fight to the ground. But that’s Kron’s territory!

Kron is a member of the Gracie family – his ancestors literally invented Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

This explains why each of his 5 MMA wins happened by submission. Before moving to this sport, he practiced BJJ, getting to a 29-11 record overall. What’s interesting is that he suffered just three losses by submission, with the most recent of those happening back in 2012.

And it happened against Marcus Almeida, a.k.a. Buchecha, who’s got a 4th-degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Full UFC 310 Fight Card Predictions

I think betting favorites will win in most UFC 310 fights, but I can definitely see a couple of underdogs upsetting the odds. Kron Gracie is my favorite longshot bet, but I have a few others.

Although I wouldn’t recommend betting your house on it, I do think Ian Machado Garry can beat favored Shavkhat Rakhmonov. Garry is a confident guy – some might say even cocky – who’s not afraid of going to war with Rakhmonov. If he survives the first two rounds, I can definitely see him either by points or a late KO.

Vicente Luque is another fighter who can stage an upset. He’s an experienced fighter with great striking skills, and he’s fighting against a guy who’s had only a couple of weeks to prepare for UFC 310.

My Favorite UFC 310 Prop Bets

I’ve got two UFC 310 props for you. The first of those is that we’ll see more than 2.5 rounds in the Rakhmonov vs. Garry fight. For one of these guys, their undefeated run will end on December 7.

Rakhmonov is 18-0, with every fight being a finish; Garry is 15-0, with eight finishes. Knowing this, it’s no surprise that Rakhmonov vs. Garry is a title eliminator fight.

This is why both will go over and above in this fight; the result is that we probably won’t see a quick finish. It may happen late in the third round when both fighters get tired. Still, a more plausible scenario is that the fight will go the distance.

I predict the exact opposite in the Gane vs. Volkov fight. The French fighter is one of the best Muay Thai artists in the UFC, who’s got six wins by KO/TKO in his portfolio. One of those happened in his most recent fight (vs. Serghei Spivac).

Alexander Volkov, too, is a hell of a striker as well. The 6’7 Russian has a knockout-to-win ratio of 63.15%. He definitely stands a chance to win on Saturday, and if he does it, it’s going to be by a finish.

Advice for Betting on UFC 310

Betting on the final UFC PPV event of 2024 is a must. There are so many awesome fights on the card, starting with the main event, Alexandre Pantoja vs. Beat Kai Asakura, which I think will be a brutal battle.

My top pick is that Pantoja will win, probably by decision. I also think Dominick Reyes vs. Anthony Smith is going to be a hell of a fight, which “The Devastator” will win.

I also expect to see some upsets on December 7, including Kron Gracie and Vicente Luque. I’m also planning to put some money on UFC 310 props, namely, Over 2.5 in Rakhmonov vs. Garry and Under 2.5 in Gane vs. Volkov.
