Randy Orton to Beat GUNTHER (+1200)
Is this a bet I’d make if the odds were even? Probably not. However, there is no value in backing GUNTHER, who stands in as a massive -5000 favorite as WWE Bash in Berlin approaches.
There is merit in betting against him, though, as Randy Orton is a staggering +1200 underdog at BetOnline. You can blindly follow my pick, or read on for some background to this bout, as well as an argument for making the bet.
The Background
Few competitors have experienced the sort of ascent that GUNTER (formerly known as WALTER) have within the WWE.
The Austrian powerhouse has claimed multiple records for title reign length, first with the NXT UK Championship and then the Intercontinental Championship. Defeating Orton in the King of the Ring final in May earned GUNTER an opportunity at the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam, where he defeated Damien Priest to become that title’s fourth holder.
But that victory over Orton was not without controversy, as Orton’s shoulders were not pinned during the result. The night after SummerSlam, the 14-time world champion confronted GUNTHER, and the match was made official for Bash in Berlin.
The Argument
There are many reasons to suggest GUNTHER as the likely winner in this bout. This is WWE’s first PLE ever in Germany, where GUNTHER’s independent home promotion, Westside Xtreme Wrestling, is located.
He’s going into the bout as the newly-crowned champion, and even putting his title reign records aside, he has only lost four broadcast singles matches (one by disqualification) in over five years under the WWE umbrella.
But you can never count out Orton, especially with the shadow of John Cena’s last year as a competitor looming. Next year will be the last chance for these two storied rivals to collide, and there are no higher stakes than at WrestleMania for a world title.
As Orton is a 14-time world champion, a run with this iteration of the World Heavyweight Championship would add a certain legitimacy that its previous holders couldn’t quite match – when crowned the inaugural champion, Seth Rollins had four world titles to his name.
A surprise Orton win would also address criticism that, while the product has been as high quality as ever, champion booking has been somewhat formulaic under Triple H, with long title reigns favored over elevating otherwise worthy contenders.
Recall that it was Sami Zayn who ultimately defeated GUNTHER at WrestleMania 40, despite Chad Gable feuding with the then-Intercontinental Champion in the months leading up to the event.

Kevin Owens to Beat Cody Rhodes (+1500)
This year has been a movie for Cody Rhodes. The guy has been on an insane winning streak, winning eight straight solo matches. His last defeat came by the hands of Drew McIntyre back in February.
To say he’s on a heater is an understatement, and his insane -6000 odds at BetOnline indicate he isn’t about to lose again at Bash in Berlin. But he does have to lose again eventually. Right?
If so, it might pay to go with his opponent, Kevin Owens, who is an awesome value bet at his +1500 price tag.
The Background
After “finishing the story” at WrestleMania 40 by defeating Roman Reigns to claim the Undisputed WWE Championship, “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes has found himself in battles with AJ Styles and Logan Paul, as well as the current version of the Bloodline lead by Solo Sikoa.
One of Rhodes’ most loyal allies has been Kevin Owens; after helping him defeat Sikoa at SummerSlam, Rhodes offered a title opportunity to the prizefighter at Bash in Berlin.
The Argument
Right now, Rhodes is the man. He’s extremely popular, he’s the top merchandise seller, and he’s around every week. While their paths have deviated, it’s also clear that he has unfinished business with Reigns, as well as with The Rock.
Despite the two-year chase, though, his Undisputed WWE Championship reign has felt rather lackluster. Great reigns are defined by strong feuds with credible challengers, and while Styles remains one of the best in the world, neither Paul nor any member of the new Bloodline (save, perhaps, Jacob Fatu) have the credibility to be seen as a true threat.
This isn’t necessarily Rhodes’ fault, but rather the result of having to follow up Reigns’ three-plus year title reign, where he ran roughshod over every single top talent on the roster, as well as a general lack of bad guys to face on the SmackDown roster.
But someone who has seen great success as a credible bad guy – including as a former Universal Champion – is Owens. And despite always coming to Rhodes’ aid, he has a lot to dislike him for: it was Rhodes that facilitated Jey Uso being drafted to Raw last year, in exchange breaking up Owens and his tag-team partner, Zayn.
There’s also some metatextual fun that could be had: much as Rhodes told CM Punk that he accomplished everything Punk said he wanted to do, it was actually Owens who connected Rhodes with the Young Bucks after his resignation in 2016.
If not for Owens, Rhodes would not have become the person or champion he is today, while Owens has not had the same career highs.
In this era of WWE, details matter: we saw as much when Finn Balor waited a year to get revenge on Damien Priest for costing him the World Heavyweight Championship.
Owens may be the dark horse going into the bout, but a surprise win would create a host of new challengers and help to get SmackDown’s top prize away from the Bloodline story, where it has been used as a prop for years and isn’t needed anymore.

The Judgement Day to Beat The Terror Twins (+170)
Two is better than one, so four has to be better than four, right? If you wanted to bet on a tag team match at Bash in Berlin, you’re in luck. It’s safe to say that including the electric Rhea Ripley only adds to the allure.
Odds are officially up, with The Judgement Day coming in as a fun +170 underdog. Here’s my reasoning for The Judgement Day to get the win and why you should bet on them.
The Background
At SummerSlam, The Judgement Day was splintered when Dominik Mysterio betrayed Rhea Ripley to help Liv Morgan retain the Women’s World Championship, and then again, as mentioned above, when Balor interfered on GUNTHER’s behalf against Priest in their World Heavyweight Championship match.
The following night on Raw, Balor excommunicated Priest from the group, before formally adding Morgan and Carlito as new members. During a beatdown of the former World Heavyweight Champion, Ripley drew her line in the sand and turned on her stablemates to assist Priest.
A mixed tag-team match between The Judgement Day and the newly-christened Terror Twins was subsequently made for Bash in Berlin.
The Argument
Priest and Ripley are getting strong good guy reactions, and it would make sense for them to win this bout as some measure of revenge against their former stable.
However, there’s not really anywhere for them to go at the moment: Priest just lost the World Heavyweight Championship and Ripley is currently in a title feud.
They also don’t have strength in numbers, and there are three other members of The Judgement Day that aren’t involved in this match.
Further, if The Judgement Day is going to remain a relevant stable after losing its two most popular members, it needs to regain its credibility. It’s not enough for a group to hold multiple championships if that group is not a threat.
Drew McIntyre to Beat CM Punk (+300)
The Bash in Berlin odds are finally out for this fight, and you’re getting solid +300 odds to back Drew McIntyre.
This is a tough one to call, but I find it hard to get away from the underdog. Here’s why I think McIntyre is the best bet.
The Background
In this year’s Royal Rumble match, Drew McIntyre legitimately injured Punk, causing many upcoming storylines to be adjusted.
While anyone being injured is unfortunate, this actually turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as this feud has been one of the high points of year. Punk’s interference at WrestleMania lead to McIntyre losing the World Heavyweight Championship to Priest; his getting involved at Clash at the Castle once again led to McIntyre losing; he even spoiled McIntyre’s Money in the Bank cash-in.
McIntyre got some measure of revenge at SummerSlam, defeating Punk after the latter turned his attention to guest referee Seth Rollins instead of focusing on his opponent. After several more weeks of escalation, a strap match between the two was booked for Bash in Berlin.
The Argument
Say what you want about Punk (and there’s certainly a lot that could be said), but he always delivers in stipulation matches.
His Dog Collar match against MJF in 2022 at All Elite Wrestling’s Revolution event was one of the best matches that year, a visceral, violent affair. Given the circumstances of the SummerSlam bout, where Punk’s emotions cost him the match, fewer external distractions may allow him to achieve vindication against McIntyre.
On the other hand, Punk is 45 years old; despite the long careers of competitors like Terry Funk and Billy Gunn, things are winding down for him.
His injury at the Royal Rumble was his third major injury in as many years, and subsequently this match with McIntyre is only the third match he’s wrestled in the past year. He doesn’t need a win to be credible; he had fans chanting his name for the seven years he wasn’t an active competitor.
One could argue that this feud has already elevated McIntyre, and that losing doesn’t hurt him, either. Though, we have seen in the past that multiple definitive wins can set a competitor up for success, such as when Rhodes defeated Rollins at three straight PLEs and then proceeded to win the Royal Rumble.
Ultimately, this bout has the smallest spread of any men’s match on the card, suggesting a little bit of uncertainty in who will ultimately be victorious. That said, McIntyre is the better pick.
The Unholy Union to beat Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill (+135)
It never feels right to bet against Bianca Belair or Jade Cargill. Imagine betting against them when they’re together? As wild as it sounds, I think it makes sense to do just that at Bash in Berlin.
The Unholy Union have compelling Bash in Berlin odds and stand out as one of the best bets this weekend. Here’s why.
The Background
The Unholy Union, Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn, captured the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship for the first time at Clash in the Castle in June. They defeated former champions Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill, as well as Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark, in a triple threat match, when both Fyre and Dawn pined Stark.
A rematch for the championships occurred in early August, though it ended in disqualification when Blair Davenport attacked Cargill, allying with the Unholy Union. Another rematch was subsequently booked for Bash in Berlin.
The Argument
Belair and Cargill are already stars. The former is a multi-time World Champion, holding what is now the WWE Women’s Championship for 420 days between 2022 and 2023; the latter signed with WWE to immense fanfare last year after she went on a 60-match winning streak in AEW.
Cargill may not have the plaudits that her partner has (and she’s still a little green, through no fault of her own; she’s only had 13 matches since signing a year ago), but she remains a big deal in spite of her limited exposure.
Fyre and Dawn, however, have kind of waffled since they were called up to the main roster from NXT, having found themselves unable to translate their success. Not only were they the final NXT Women’s Tag-Team Champions, Fyre was the longest-reigning NXT UK Women’s Champion, with a reign of 649 days.
These two are immensely talented, and the alliance with Blair Davenport, herself new to the main roster but an 11-year veteran, gives the Unholy Union insurance that the former champions do not have.
In my opinion, the main roster hasn’t really seen what the Unholy Union can do yet – what better case to showcase that than with a long and authoritative Women’s Tag-Team Championship reign. Or at least, if you can overlook the titles themselves being cursed.
BetOnline has a prop bet asking whether Cargill will turn on Belair, with Yes at -125 odds. Anything can happen – Cargill spent almost all of her AEW run as a bad guy – but it might be a bit too soon for that.
Betting on WWE Bash in Berlin 2024
One thing even the most die hard WWE fans have to remember is that pro wrestling isn’t always predictable. The top superstars can lose their belts at any point. Anyone is vulnerable to lose, regardless of the opponent.
The exact reasoning, what’s at stake, and the bet at hand can fluctuate, but my best bets for Bash in Berlin illustrate a pretty volatile card.
As in, there are a lot of different ways this event could go, and there’s a lot of upside to consider if you plan on placing some bets.
That doesn’t mean any of the above WWE Bash in Berlin picks are locks – far from it. But anytime you can get +1200 odds or better for a wrestler – and there’s logic behind it – I think we need to pounce on it.
