BitStarz Casino Review for 2024

Say what you want about bitcoin, but there’s one thing no one can doubt – bitcoin has been good for online gambling.

I think the biggest benefit is that it’s allowed some players who couldn’t otherwise gamble online – such as Americans – the ability to gamble online, and without headaches, huge delays, fees… or bounced checks.

Now, the casino we’re talking about today – BitStarz.com – doesn’t accept American players. But that’s okay – everyone else can enjoy the perks of this hybrid (bitcoin + Euro) casino. They have a bunch of games, promotions, banking options and more.

We cover all this in our review below. We recommend you read below if you’re in the neighborhood for a new casino, no matter if your plan is to use fiat or cryptocurrency.

Company

Who runs BitStarz? How long have they been in business?

BitStarz.com (formally known as BitStars.net) is owned and operated by Direx N.V., a company registered and established under the laws of Curacao.

BitStarz has been around since 2014.

How’s their reputation? What do others think about them?

They have an excellent reputation. Here are a couple examples:

  • They have a Deposit Guarantee with ThePogg.com, which means that if you’re treated unfairly by the operator, ThePogg.com will refund your deposits. They’re able to do this because BitStarz has agreed to discuss player complaints with them and not to confiscate funds unless the player clearly breaches their terms.
  • They have a 10/10 and are certified at AskGamblers.com. There are only 8 complaints – all but 2 have been resolved. The two that haven’t been resolved were rejected by AskGamblers.com on behalf of the operator. They have 141 player reviews with an average player rating of 8.6.
  • They have an 8/10 at CasinoListings.com. They conclude their review by saying:
“While BitStarz isn’t a perfect online casino, it does a lot of things right and I think it belongs in the upper-tier of Bitcoin casinos. There is a huge game library, fast payouts, and helpful and competent customer service, all of which make this a good place to play despite the drawbacks noted.”

BitStarz even encourages you to go to ThePogg.com and/or AskGamblers.com whenever you have a complaint.

  • Surprisingly, they’re not endorsed at the WizardOfOdds.com. But they have a 4.4/5 rating at their sister portal, LatestCasinoBonuses.com.

They’re not accredited at Casinomeister.com, either. But it seems like the major hang-up there is that BitStarz accepts/uses bitcoin – something many people have mixed feelings about.

But if you don’t have a problem with that – or, you prefer it – it looks like BitStarz is the casino to join according to all the other review portals we trust.

Restricted Countries

Who can play at BitStarz?

If you are a player from any of the following you will not be able to play for real money at BitStarz:

  • Spain
  • France
  • UK
  • US

What’s more is that there are several software providers and/or individual games that are prohibited to players in specific countries. You can check what those are on their terms page.

Banking

What banking options does BitStarz accept?

Important!
I used a VPN (through) Canada while looking at their banking options. There’s a good chance that the banking options available in your region may be different than those listed below.

Here are the deposit options they accept, along with any applicable fees and limits.

  • Visa / 2.5%
  • MasterCard / 2.5%
  • Bitcoin / Free / Min. 0.0001 mBTC
  • Maestro / 2.5%
  • Skrill / 2.5%
  • Neteller / 2.5%
  • Bank Transfer / Free
  • Cubits (bitcoin) / .5%
  • Paysafecard / 2.5%
  • iDeal / Free
  • ComePay / 5%

Most limits are between $20 and $4,000, except for a few that are $5 on the low side, and the exceptions posted above.

The deposit fees suck, but it looks like it’s about the same as what you’d find elsewhere (that charges them).

The upside is that they don’t charge fees for just about any cash out option, as you’ll see in the next section.

Withdrawals

You can use the following options to cash out your winnings:

  • Visa
  • MasterCard
  • Bitcoin
  • Skrill
  • Neteller
  • Bank transfer
  • Cubits

Limits range from $5 to $4,000, though some options have a slightly higher minimum. You can see all their banking options on their website under banking.

If you win more than 20 Bitcoins or $15,000, BitStarz says they “reserve the right to divide the pay out into monthly installments of 20 BTC or €15,000 until the full amount is paid out.” This suck; but at least it’s a relatively high amount. They also say they may make exceptions for higher level VIP members and/or players who win a progressive jackpot.

Promotions

Important!
We cover the basic terms and conditions for their offers below. However, because they accept both fiat and crypto currencies, there are different terms and conditions for each kind of currency.

The point – make sure you read and understand their terms before you claim an offer.

Do they offer a welcome bonus? What are their terms?

They have a couple of offers for first time customers.

The first is their no deposit offer. You get 20 free spins, and all you got to do is sign up. The max you can win (and cash out) from this offer is $100 or 50 mBTC. The playthrough on this offer is 40x the bonus.

The next offer is their First Deposit bonus. They’ll match your deposit 100% up to $100 or 1 BTC. You’ll also get 180 free spins for the Boomanji, Fruit Zen or Starburst slot machine.

The first 20 spins are credited 23 hours after your first deposit. Then you’ll get another 20 twenty-four hours later. This goes on for 9 days until you get all 180 spins.

Tip!

Bitcoin’s value is always in flux. However, today, it’s valued at more than $2,000. So, if you’re looking to get the MOST out of your first deposit, then you’ll want to deposit with bitcoin.

The playthrough on this offer is 40x. This applies to (most) slot machines. All other games will vary – you’ll want to read their terms as there are several games or game types that won’t contribute 100%.

The max bet is $5 or 25 mBTC.

What additional offers or perks can you claim?

They do – there are several additional offers you can claim. The following are details behind all their evergreen offers.

  • Second Deposit Offer – Get a 50% match bonus up to $100 or 1 BTC
  • Third Deposit Offer – Get a 50% match bonus up to $200 or 2 BTC
  • Fourth Deposit Offer – Get a 100% match bonus up to $100 or 1 BTC
  • Rook’s Double Cash – Play Rook’s Revenge. BitStarz will double your win when you land 5 red mask symbols on a horizontal row.
  • Extra Wars – Get extra rewards every 3 days by playing games from their “providers of the month.” The players with the highest turnover will get a piece of a $1,000 prize pool.
  • Table Wars – Play table games and you can win up to $500 every week from their leader-board-style tournament. The total prize pool is $1,000, and you can get a piece of it… if you place high enough.

You can see the leader-board on their website under tournament.

  • 50% Reload Bonus – Every Monday you can get a 50% match bonus up to $50 or 250 mBTC
  • Free Spins Wednesday – Make a deposit on Wednesday and wager the same amount before midnight. Do that and you’ll get 20 free spins for deposits of $30/30mBTC or higher, or 80 free spins on deposits of $150/150mBTC or higher

That wraps it up for their offers. They got a nice mix of reload bonuses, free spins and leaderboard promotions. More than that, their base playthrough (40x) is reasonable.

One Last Thing (About Their [Bonus] Terms)

One thing I noticed going through their terms is they have a clause where you run the risk of losing any of your bonus money and/or winnings if you only deposit when an online casino bonus is available, and make several deposits in a row.

They want you to make a deposit without a bonus attached at least 20% of the time – 1 in every 5 deposits.

I’m not sure how I feel about this, since casino games and promotions are always weighted in the casino’s favor. Why do they care why or when you make a deposit?

I point this out, though, because you don’t want to run into a situation where you lose your (bonus) winnings and you can’t quite figure out why.

Just make sure you make a regular deposit now and then and you should be okay.

Games

What software providers does BitStarz work with? What kinds of games can you play?

They work with several top-notch software companies. For example:

  • Amatic Industries
  • SoftSwiss
  • NetEnt
  • GameArt
  • Habanero
  • Pragmatic Play
  • Asia Gaming
  • Evolution

They say they have more than 850 games (though, as you’re about to learn, 100% of their games aren’t always available to each player).

One company they also work with is BetSoft. I used to tout BetSoft whenever they popped up in a casino I was reviewing. They have lots of fun and entertaining 3D slots. I’ve played several of them for free.

However, about a year ago they made the news for failing to pay out a progressive jackpot win. I’ve talked about this in other reviews before and don’t want to repeat myself here. Just know that there might be a slightly higher risk playing their games – especially progressive jackpots – compared to games from the other providers.

I’m actually surprised ThePogg.com didn’t say as much in their review. But maybe since BitStarz has their ‘Deposit Guarantee,’ any potential risk is reduced.

Anyway, there are so many games here that you could totally avoid BetSoft’s games and still have plenty to play. BitStarz offers slots, table games, video poker, jackpot games and live dealer games.

They offer provably fair games (LINK TO PROVABLY FAIR PAGE HERE), too – I noticed it when I played a quick hand of Let It Ride. They also have a page that explains what it is, how it works, etc.

One last thing – you may not see all the games they have to offer. I noticed that when I reviewed their games, that many of them aren’t shown to players from prohibited countries, which varies from software provider to software provider. I managed to discover TONS more game options when I launched my VPN. So, that’s just something to keep in mind if you don’t see some of the games we list in the next section.

What are some examples of casino games you can play?

Here are some of the game titles we pulled from their website.

Table Games

  • Multihand Blackjack
  • Blackjack Surrender
  • Multihand Blackjack Pro
  • European Roulette
  • American Roulette
  • American Blackjack
  • Hi-Lo Switch
  • Pontoon
  • Draw Hi-Lo
  • Casino Hold’em
  • Trey Poker
  • Texas Hold’em
  • Oasis Poker
  • Caribbean Poker
  • Let Ir Ride
  • Multihand Joker Poker
  • Joker Poker
  • Double Joker
  • Double Exposure Blackjack
  • Baccarat
  • Pai Gow
  • Wild Texas

They offer a pretty solid selection of games overall There are very few high stakes or multi-hand variants, which leaves room for totally unique titles. This gives players more variety overall, which I’m a big fan of.

One thing I noticed is they lumped in their few video poker games in with their table games. I’m not a huge fan of this for a couple of reasons.

One, most casinos place them in their own category. That’s what users are used to, so anything else that’s not totally obvious is confusing. To me, anyway.

Two, they don’t offer many video poker games. This is a bit disappointing, and probably the only thing I would change. And I found this to be the case even after browsing their casino on my VPN.

Live Casino

  • Classic Baccarat (Asian)
  • LED Baccarat
  • Multiplay Baccarat
  • Baccarat VIP
  • Sicbo
  • Dragon Tiger

I think it’s great they have live dealer games. I also like how they have Sicbo and Dragon Tiger – two games not found in many live dealer casinos.

Important!
When I accessed their casino via my VPN, I found that they also offered live blackjack, keno, roulette, auto roulette, dream catcher and party BJ. There were European and male dealers, too.

Slots

  • Golden Profits
  • 888 Dragons
  • Super Sevens
  • Gold Train
  • Magic Shoppe
  • The Angler
  • 7up
  • Wild Jester
  • Genie Wishes
  • Cuckoo
  • Cherry Bomb Deluxe
  • Eye Of Ra
  • Lucky Coin
  • Monster Munchies
  • Magic Idol
  • Lucky Blue
  • Fantasy Park
  • Happy Birds
  • Weekend In Vegas
  • The Tipsy Tourist
  • Greedy Goblins
  • At The Copa
  • Slots Angels
  • A Night In Paris
  • Gold Girl, Bad Girl
  • Slotfather
  • Under The Bed
  • After Night Falls
  • Gladiator
  • Safari Sam
  • Rook’s Revenge
  • Black Gold
  • Gypsy Rose
  • Rockstar
  • Royal Reels
  • Madder Scientist
  • Mad Scientist
  • House Of Fun
  • Ice Pirates
  • 3 Hit Pay
  • Frankenslot’s
  • Gangster Gamblers
  • Hansel & Gretel
  • Hockey League
  • Great Reef
  • Joker’s Wild
  • Mighty Kong
  • Megaboy
  • Mummy Money
  • Ninja Chef
  • Redboard & Co
  • Spooky Family
  • Super Strike
  • Piggy Bank
  • Jewels

I got nothing to add here. There’s a great blend of slots here including:

  • Licensed titles around movies, TV shows, people, etc
  • Progressive slots
  • Slots with features and bonus rounds
  • Slots revolving around themes like food, animals, money, sports, horror, and lots more

You’ll find plenty to do here.

That wraps our examples of their games. They have an excellent selection overall, especially if you can access most, if not all of their game library.

Something I noticed while there is that if you’re unsure of what game you want to play in a particular category, they have a ‘Feeling Lucky’ button that, if pressed, will choose a game for you at random.

Another thing I noticed is that you can filter their games based on type, but you can also filter games based on software provider. This is a quick way to find games from providers you know you like, as well as a fast way to see what software providers aren’t available to players in your area.

What devices is their casino compatible with? Do they have a mobile casino?

They offer an instant play (browser) casino only. This means that Windows, Mac and Linux users should have no problems playing here.

That also means they’re mobile compatible. iOS and Android users should have no problem, and considering some of the software providers they work with (bitcoin related), there’s a good chance that newer generation Blackberry and Windows phone and tablet users can find a game or three to play as well.

I also found their mobile site – they have a link at the bottom of their desktop casino. So, you can take a look at it before you go there from your mobile device, if you want.

Conclusion

What do we think of BitStarz? Do we recommend them to our readers?

I’m a fan. They have a bunch of games (850+) and a couple ways to filter their games so you can quickly find what you want to play.

It sucks that some games are unavailable, but that’s not BitStarz’ fault. That’s up to the software providers, which BitStarz has to comply with if they want to offer their games.

They have several promotions, too, which is great news. Not only that, but I think their 40x playthrough is very reasonable. I think it sucks they have a small limit on what you can cash out from free spins, but that’s the extent of my complaints there.

It sounds like most other 3rd party review sites like them to. They’ve given BitStarz excellent, if not perfect scores. I found few complaints overall.

It’s hard to argue with all that. If you’re looking for a new casino to join, and specifically one that accepts bitcoin, I don’t think you have to look any farther than BitStarz.

Bitstarz allowed me to open a second account and the pop up said since I had an account that I simply could not use any bonuses with my new account. I was changing emails and that is the ONLY reason I opened a second account. They allowed me to deposit LARGE amounts of money. When I finally won and tried to withdraw – they “seized” all my winnings as well as my deposits that were still in my account. They said you could not have more than one account except under “certain” circumstances. I told them I did not use any bonuses as they instructed (and I did not) and they stole ALL my money and closed the account and refused to help. I did lodge complaints with all the “oversight” casino companies with ZERO replies. This site needs to be shut down – they are stealing from Americans! If they were not going to let me have a second account they should not have accepting all my deposits – they ONLY shut you down when you win a little back and try to withdraw. HIGHLY ILLEGAL – they are thieves.

It cost me at least $30 to get a bonus on any game playing small 30 or 40 cents and every time I got a bonus it paid only $2 or 3 dollars. They could offer me a 500% bonus and still wouldn’t go back. Not enjoyable at all and they didn’t have some slots I like which most others have. Even using my CC was a pain which it wasnt at most. It also took me forever to even find the games I do like,I spent more time pissing around then actually playing my $120 went super fast, I won’t recommend them to anyone.
