I found my experience at Thunderpick to be entertaining and educational. The site doesn’t let its emphasis on esports interfere with providing a slew of gambling options. If any of the moon symbols have had repeat hits during the 10-spin series, they become multipliers for any wins they participate in on the tenth spin. It’s a novel concept, and one that kept me playing long after I should have moved on to other games.

Japanese Coin: Hold the Spin: I am drawn to “lightning link” type slots, where sticky coins of varying values appear on screen, and when enough of them appear during a spin, they trigger a bonus round. This entry into the sticky coin genre from Gamzix is a 3×5 slot with four jackpots (bronze, silver, gold, and platinum).

Aztec Magic Megaways: Say what you want, I really like a slot that gives me 117,649 ways to win. This 6-reeler from BGaming gives each reel the opportunity to stretch from three to seven rows, giving your screen (and eyeballs) a reel workout (heh). It even has a tally window for the number of ways each spin of the game could have paid out, if only a winning combination had appeared. Sadly, I didn’t see a win until a spin that hit 36,288 ways. 

Table Games at Thunderpick

Thunderpick’s selection of table games rivals its slots inventory in abundance. Does the site really need to offer 76 versions of blackjack? Even when you realize that the list includes dozens of live dealer games, there are still at least 19 electronic blackjack games to choose from. Single deck, Super 7, American, 21 burn, Pirate, multihand pro—name your favorite blackjack flavor and belly up to the bar.

There isn’t a “table games” button to whisk you away to a new page full of all the electronic games you expect. Instead, the dropdown menu has a “Blackjack” selection. Same goes for “roulette”, “baccarat”, and a “cards” selection. Something of a surprise is the sparsity of Thunderpick’s video poker selection. The games they do have are fun, of course, but where is double double bonus poker? Playing video poker is all about the pay tables, and while it’s possible to win here, the long view says there’s little chance of going home with a large bankroll than you showed up with.

Still, I tried Texas Hold’em, which pits a single player (me, in this case) against a computerized dealer. An ante is required before a deal is made, and your first decision is to either fold or raise 2x based on your pocket cards. I lost or folded a couple of hands until I got a pair of clubs. The flop added another club, so like the donk that I am, I bet. The turn gave me a fourth club, so I bet again. River? A club, of course, so I won 20 bucks on a hand that under most circumstances I wouldn’t have seen the flop with at a live table.

A British-accented fellow named Basil was the dealer. Cheerful, talkative, and engaging, Basil kept me (and apparently 800 other players) entertained as we waited for the next spin.

Thunderpick Specialty Games

The site has two proprietary games that are fun, and even profitable. Thunder Crash has players placing a bet, then watching as a spacecraft is launched. The longer the spacecraft avoids being hit by planets, meteors, asteroids, chickens—wait a minute. Chickens?

Well, anyway, the longer the spacecraft continues, the higher the multiplier gets. When the inevitable crash occurs, the onscreen multiplier is frozen—and that’s your payout. You bet $1.53 and the multiplier freezes at 3.14x (for example), you win $4.80. Rake it in, lucky.

The other proprietary game at Thunderpick is entitled Thunder Spin. This is a wheel with sectors in four different colors: gray, red, blue, and gold. Every 15 seconds or so, the wheel spins, eventually stopping with a stationary arrow pointing at one of the colors. Naturally, each of the colors has a differing number of instances on the wheel, with gray having the most—and consequently only paying 2:1, while the gold with its single occurrence pays 30:1 if it hits.

The fun part of both of these games is you can see others placing their bets in real time, and it’s entertaining to watch the betting trends change depending on the last few outcomes.

Thunderpick has regular single-day and multi-day tournaments called Giveaways. Visit the Promotions page, and you’ll find the active giveaways listed below the various deposit bonuses. When I visited, there was a 30-day slots tournament called the “€500k Mystery Drop”, with a €500,000 prize pool and up to 5,000 winners. All you needed to do is sign up for the tourney, then play any Wazdan slot to qualify. Every Wazdan game you played put you in the running for random prizes.

Live chat is just that—an actual human being in a text window answering questions promptly and courteously. I connected with Ashorn H to ask a few questions, and their responses were quick, to the point, and courteous. I didn’t get the answer I wanted (I asked if there was a way to flag games as favorites, and was informed that sadly, no, there was not), but the quick response—even though it wasn’t what I wanted to hear—was what all online gambling sites should strive to achieve.

When I emailed a question to their customer service department, I was surprised not to receive an immediate auto-response. Surprised, but not dismayed. I did receive a response a few hours later, though. The animation and the game proceeded glitch-free, and while I didn’t win enough to quit my day job, my bankroll was a wee bit larger when I finished.
