Have you ever dreamed of being a big time movie star, driving fancy cars, and having a beautiful partner?

But does Big Shot have the star quality that its theme portrays? Or is this game all flash and no substance?
Find out as we cover Big Shot’s pay table, graphics, bonus features, betting options, and compare it to other fame and fortune slots.
Overview
This game’s background shows a nighttime shot of the Hollywood Hills, with palm trees and lights dotting the landscape. The visual quality in Big Shot’s background is better than what you’ll seein most Realtime slots.
You’ll also see a couple of animations while playing this game too.
When the Superstar appears in a winning combination, the screen pans in and out while he points at himself, and lights flash around the square. You’ll also hear a jingle that sounds like whatplays when somebody walks onto the Oscars’ stage.
The Big Shot icon also offers an animation, with spotlights flashing in the air while a star flies up towards the screen.
Aside from these animations and sound effects, Big Shot isn’t as flashy as its theme would suggest. But the background and symbols do a good enough job of selling the movie star theme.
Big Shot Slots Pay Table and Graphics
The following symbols and payouts are offered in Big Shot slots:
- Superstar Wild
Dressed in a tux and delivering a million dollar smile, the Superstar serves as the wild symbol. He only appears on reels 2, 3, and 4, and substitutes for everything except the scatter.
- Award Scatter
This gold colored award is similar to an Oscar, but features a comical looking man on top. The award multiplies your payouts whenever it appears two or more times anywhere on the reels. Yourpayouts will be multiplied by 1x for 2 symbols, 5x for 3 symbols, 20x for 4 symbols, and 100x for 5 symbols.
- Starlet
This beautiful, blonde starlet is dressed for an awards show in her red evening gown and gloves. She pays 2,500 credits for 5 symbols, 500 for 4, 200 for 3, and 5 for 2.
- Sports Car
The red sports car pays you 1,000 credits for 5 symbols, 300 for 4, 100 for 3, and 5 for 2.
- Movie Reel and Clapperboard
The movie reel and clapperboard both pay 500 credits for 5 symbols, 100 for 4, 25 for 3, and 3 for 2.
- A and K
The A and K pay 400 credits for 5 symbols, 50 for 4, and 20 for 3.
- Q and J
The Q and J pay 200 credits for 5 symbols, 25 for 4, and 10 for 3.
- 10 and 9
The 10 and 9 pay 100 credits for 5 symbols, 20 for 4, and 5 for 3.
Symbol Graphics
The symbols are done in cartoon fashion, and they look good in comparison to most slots.
We especially like the Superstar and starlet symbols because they’re not only detailed, but also offer the pizazz that this game is about. The award, clapperboard, movie reel, and sports car alsolook good.
Our one complaint though is that Big Shot only features 5 original symbols. Over half of the symbols are generic letters, which doesn’t add much excitement to the game.
It would’ve been easy for Realtime to include other related symbols like screaming fans, a director, movie set, and/or mansion.
Big Shot Slots Bonus Features
The only bonus feature that Big Shot offers is free spins, which are triggered when the Big Shot icon appears on reels 1 and 5. But the rules behind these free spins are complex, which adds tothe excitement when wondering how many spins you get.
You randomly receive 5, 7, 10, 15, or 20 free games, with a multiplier that matches the number of free spins. The multiplier increases each time you spin the reels – i.e. 1x for first spin, 2xfor second spin, and so forth.
Another perk to these free spins is that the Big Shot icon becomes an extra wild symbol on reels 1 and 5. Considering that the Superstar is also wild, this gives you an even better chance to formwinning payouts during free spins.
Random Progressive Jackpot
Big Shot offers a random progressive jackpot that can be won at any time, meaning you’re eligible for this jackpot no matter how much you bet or even if your spin wins.
The problem with most progressive jackpots is that games require you to make a side bet or play every pay line. This is why Big Shot’s random progressive jackpot is great because you can win bigfor just one cent per spin.
When we played Big Shot, the jackpot was only at $3,037. But we imagine that the prize can grow much larger than this.
Betting Options
You can change pay lines from 1 20 and adjust your coin denomination from $0.01 to $5.00. This makes for a minimum bet of $0.01 and a max wager of $100.00.
You change the coin denomination with arrows listed beside the Bet button. Pay lines can be changed either by using arrows or clicking buttons on the left and right sides of the reels.
Most of the other options revolve around settings for auto spin, which lets you keep the reels spinning with your preferred betting options.
Auto spin options include: stopping after X number of spins, when you get any win, when you get a big win, when your balance decreases by X, or when your balance increases by X.
The one other option you have is the ability to turn sound volume up or down. You can access this feature by clicking the Menu in the lower right hand corner, then choosing Player Options.
Comparison to Similar Slots
Fame and fortune makes for a natural slots theme because many players hope to win a fortune themselves. Below you can see how Big Shot compares to some of the other wealth themed online slotsavailable.
Betsoft’s Mr. Vegas
This 5 reel, 20 pay line game’s theme is very similar to Big Shot, with the main difference being that Mr. Vegas is the king of Sin City.
You meet Mr. Vegas immediately through an introduction video that shows the star get out of a limo with two beautiful women. He then walks into a casino with the ladies on his arms andimmediately begins winning in roulette.
Most symbols revolve around the casino, and the reels are lit up like an old style Vegas casino. Despite all the theatrics, this is a low quality 3D slot in comparison to some of Betsoft’s otherefforts.
Where this game really shines is through its bonus features, which include free spins, mini slots, the Money Wheel Jackpot, and a roulette bonus round.
The free spins are triggered by getting dice on the right or left side of Mr. Vegas in reels 1, 2, or 3. The number of free spins that you get is based on the dice value.
If you land 3 or more mini slots on the reels, you get free spins on these mini 3 reel slots.
Once you collect 5 mini slabs of the Money Wheel, you get to spin it. The Money Wheel features prizes ranging from a progressive jackpot to free spins.
If you land Mr. Vegas symbols on reels 1, 3, and 5, you trigger the roulette bonus round, which sees you play roulette with him and his two lovely ladies.
Realtime’s Diamond Dozen
Diamond Dozen is about a wealthy man courting a young woman with diamonds and roses.
The graphics in Diamond Dozen are worse than any other game on this list. But we do like the background, which shows a nighttime city scene with the ocean to the left.
You can also expect some nice features, like free games, a scatter symbol, wild symbol, and Diamond Delight feature.
Diamond Delight is triggered when you get 3 or more white diamonds anywhere on the reels. You then touch each white diamond to reveal a number between 1 and 10. These numbers are multiplied byeach other and then by the triggering bet to give you a prize.
Free spins are triggered when you get 3 or more blue diamonds anywhere on the reels. All prizes are doubled during your 12 free spins, and more blue and white diamonds are added to the reels.
While Diamond Dozen offers a fair number of features, the graphics and lack of animations put it on a lower level than Big Shot.
Betsoft’s Tycoons
The Tycoons have skipped the fame and went straight for the fortune in this 5 reel, 20 pay line game.
You’re introduced to these mega millionaires during the loading screen, where they’re all seated around a poker table. The Tycoons include an Arab sheik, an old lady, an old man, and a techmagnate.
One thing to like about Tycoons is its setting because the reels are surrounded by a huge mansion, and you see a running fountain and sports car in front.
The features in Tycoons are outstanding since you can expect free spins, a Credit Card Click Me round, and a poker bonus game.
The Click Me round is triggered by getting gold bars, money, and a check in any order on reels 1, 2, and 3. You click one of these three symbols to collect an instant win.
Free spins are triggered when you get 3 or more character symbols with small F’s on them. During free spins, all character wins are doubled, and you can retrigger these free games.
You unlock the poker bonus round by getting 3 or more playing cards anywhere on the reels. This takes you to a poker table, where you try to guess who’ll win the hand.
Conclusion
Big Shot lacks the number of animations and features required to make you feel the glamour that the theme portrays. But this game still offers a few good qualities, beginning with the graphics.
Done in a colorful and fun fashion, Big Shot’s graphics offers a lighthearted approach to the Hollywood genre. You might also appreciate the Superstar’s animation, where he smiles at the cameraas his sports car pulls up.
The free spins setup is very interesting too, where you randomly receive between 5 and 20 free spins along with a multiplier that matches the spins. You can also look forward to extra wildsduring free spins since the Big Shot icon acts as a substitute on reels 1 and 5.
On the downside, this is the only bonus feature in Big Shot, and the game needs more animations and unique symbols. Regarding the latter, you’ll see more letters/numbers on the reels than youwill unique characters.
If you’re looking for a simple 5 reel slot with good graphics, then Big Shot is a solid choice. But chances are that you won’t play this game very long because it doesn’t offer many extra frills.
