Castle Builder 2 is an eagerly-awaited sequel to the popular original slot game from Rabcat. The first Castle Builder game won the prestigious Game of the Year title in 2013, so this incarnationhas a lot to live up to.

Well, fans of the original can relax, as Castle Builder 2 takes players even deeper on a journey through fantasy kingdoms and provides a slot game that feels like a strategy world-building game.

This hybrid game allows you to choose your own from one of three characters with different skills, although only two are available until you have completed one of the other character’s entiregame cycle. Next, you choose an area on the map where you want to build and get spinning.

The game is called Castle Builder, and that is what you must do to make progress. The high-value symbols in use here consist of a ring, golden bar, chest and crown. The four lower symbols aremade of different construction materials, and the low-value symbols are a lot more important in this game than in most others.

The main screen shows 4×3 reels on the right, with the site of your latest building on the left. Collecting the wood, stone, brick and slate by forming winning combos with them allows you tobuild your house. Once your building is complete, you will be asked to choose a husband/wife from the local royal family. Depending on your choice, your reward can be higher or lower, so don’tlet your heart rule your head!

As you progress further in the game your character qualifies for better rewards as he levels up. After a while, it’s easy to forget that you are playing a slot game, as it has the feel of one ofthose kingdom building games that are so popular on smartphones.

Of course, that is exactly what Rabcat (in association with Microgaming) were trying to achieve.  There is also a more traditional slot game bonus round unlocked by three or morescatters.
