The Autoplay button activates a menu from which the player chooses how many paid spins the game will make. The spins are played at the current Stake Per Line and Lines settings. Automatic spinscontinue until the player closes the game screen, or the player interrupts the spins, or the last automated spin completes, or a bonus round is won, or the player’s balance drops below the amountof the Stake in play.

The Pay Table button activates the help screen system.

The Wishing Well bonus game is a simple Pick option bonus in the online game.  The player chooses one of the Wishing Well symbols to reveal a multiplier that is applied to the Stake for thespin.

In the land based game the player chooses a Wishing Well symbol to reveal a number of buckets. The player is then taken to a second screen where the leprechaun stands by the well. Eight bucketsline the well. The player chooses buckets, which hop into the well.  The leprechaun uses the winch to haul the buckets back up to the top to reveal how much gold they gathered.

The pots begin spinning around the leprechaun. You have to catch the pot with your prize (stop the pots from spinning). Maximum prize is 500 times Stake and minimum prize is 200 times Stake.

The player is taken to a second screen where the leprechaun stands beside a wheel. Bags of gold are scattered across the screen.

The player spins the wheel to win a prize. The bags of gold open one by one to reveal the prizes, forging a path up the screen. The game ends either when the top prize is reached or a “Collect”result appears.

Normally one might talk about the complexity of a game by discussing all the different bonus rounds and special rules. Rainbow Riches has plenty to offer in that sense but the sheer number ofderivative games makes it confusing to talk about what players can expect.

The American land based casino game is much more interactive and may also feature stacked Wild symbols. The leprechaun symbol spins around.

The animations are basic cartoon quality and the music is a cheap riff on Irish folk songs but most players won’t mind.

The online game is toned down in terms of game play but it is pleasantly flexible compared to the original UK land based game that locked players into £1 bets and limited the prizes to £500. Butthe payouts are more variable in a game with greater flexibility. They have to be so because the larger the maximum prize a game pays the less often it will pay that prize.
