Sizzling Hot Deluxe Slot Machine

Sizzling Hot Deluxe is a 5 reel, 5 pay line slot machine from Novomatic that’s a sequel to the original Sizzling Hot.

One look at Sizzling Hot Deluxe tells you that this is a classic slot machine, filled with fruits and common symbols.

This is one of several fruit themed slot machines that Novomatic has made over the years. And each one offers something a little different from the next.

What does Sizzling Hot Deluxe have that’s different from the rest?

Find out as we cover Sizzling Hot Deluxe’s background, sound effects, animations, pay table, betting options, and features. We’ll also compare this game to other Novomatic fruit themed slotmachines.

Overview

Atmosphere – Background

Sizzling Hot Deluxe has a simplistic background that puts the emphasis on the reels.

The top and bottom of the screen are plain red, while both sides of the reels are purple. The area behind the reels is navy blue, which helps separate the reels from the background.

The red, purple, and navy blue background isn’t aesthetically pleasing, nor does it add anything to the game.

Music and Sound Effects

The main game doesn’t offer any music, but you’ll hear different sound effects while playing.

Every time that you spin the reels, you’ll hear a cliché tune that sounds like it could come from any slot machine.

When you hit winning pay outs, this game offers a few different ringing noises to indicate wins. They’re generic sounds, but it’s nice that they differ from each other.

The worst part of the music is after wins, when the combination of a ticking clock and falling change plays.

This continues to play until you choose to collect your winnings or gamble them. It wouldn’t be so bad if this only happened once and a while, but it plays following every win.

Animations

When you hit winning pay outs, the symbols catch on fire. Fruit catching on fire seems strange, but this feature fits the game’s name.

Sadly, there are no other animations beyond the flaming symbols. This is one of Sizzling Hot Deluxe’s multiple signs of simplicity, with more to be discussed later.

Pay Table and Graphics

This game’s symbols and pay outs include:

  • 7 – This is the highest paying symbol in the game, offering 5,000 credits, 1,000 for 4, and 100 for 3.
  • Grapes, Watermelon – The grapes and watermelon both pay the same amount, including 500 credits for 5 symbols, 200 for 4, and 50 for 3.
  • Eggplant, Orange, Lemon – These three symbols all pay the same, offering 200 credits for 5 symbols, 50 for 4, and 20 for 3.
  • Cherries – The cherries pay 200 credits for 5 symbols, 50 for 4, 20 for 3, and 5 for 2. We don’t know why the cherries offer an extra pay out for 2 symbols, given that they’relisted lower on the pay table than the eggplant, orange, and lemon. This is the only odd quirk in what’s an otherwise straightforward game.
  • Star Scatter – The star is the scatter symbol, paying 50x your triggering bet for 5 symbols, 10x for 4, and 2x for 3. Considering that there are no wild symbols, the star isthe game’s only special symbol.

Symbol Graphics

Sizzling Hot Deluxe doesn’t have anything unique in terms of what symbols it offers. But the symbols do have some flare in what’s an otherwise bland game.

The cherries, eggplant, lemon, orange, and watermelon feature muted colors that are interesting for a fruit slot machine.

The 7, grapes, and star look different since they’re bold and more in line with what you’d find in most fruit themed slots.

Bonus Features

  • Scatter Symbol

The biggest weakness of Sizzling Hot Deluxe is that it doesn’t have any true bonuses. The closest thing to a bonus is the star scatter, which pays up to 50x your triggering bet.

We bet $0.05 per line, meaning we’d earn $2.50 for five scatters. This isn’t much, but it’s a welcome sight nonetheless if you can land five stars on the reels.

This game also offers higher pay outs than the average fruit slot, including 5,000 credits for five 7s, and 1,000 credits for four 7s.

This doesn’t replace a proper bonus round, but the high pay outs and scatter symbol offer more than most classic slot machines.

  • Gamble Feature

Following any win, you can click the Gamble button at the bottom to try and double your winnings.

This takes you to a second screen, where you’ll be shown a playing card along with options to select if the card will be red or black.

If you guess correctly, your winnings will be doubled, and you’ll have the option to either collect your money or gamble again. You can win up to 6 straight times before you’re forced to exitthe Gamble feature and spin the reels again.

One annoying quirk to the Gamble option is a rapid sound that will make you wonder if something is wrong with your PC / mobile device.

This sound represents the playing card quickly switching between red and black. But the sound is pointless because the playing card is already flipped over and won’t be revealed until youguess red or black.

Betting Options

The pay lines are fixed at 5, but you can change your coin denomination from $0.01 to $1.00. This makes the minimum bet worth $0.05 per spin, and the max worth $5.00.

Considering that Sizzling Hot Deluxe is a simple game, we see this as a low roller’s slot machine. That said, the $0.05 minimum bet works perfectly here.

Once you’ve selected your betting preferences, you can click Auto play to keep the reels spinning automatically. This will continue until you click Auto play again to stop the reels.

Unlike many other slot machines, Sizzling Hot Deluxe doesn’t give you options to stop Auto play or any warning that this feature continues until your bankroll is gone. This makes it important tokeep an eye on your bankroll while the reels are spinning.

Other Options

You can turn sound on and off by clicking the speaker button in the upper right hand corner.

You can also maximize the screen size by clicking the expander box next to the speaker. One good thing about Sizzling Hot’s full screen mode is that the graphical quality doesn’t diminish whenyou use it.

Win Frequency

The win frequency for Sizzling Hot Deluxe is above average for a 5 pay line slot machine. But from our experience, this game is also very streaky.

We had points where we’d win 2 3 times within 5 spins, and other times where we’d lose 10 spins in a row. But the long cold streaks are to be expected from a game with only 5 pay lines.

Considering that you can play for a nickel per spin, Sizzling Hot Deluxe is a good game for bankroll conscious players.

Return to Player RTP

RTP for Sizzling Hot Deluxe is 95.66%, which is average for an online slot.

You may feel like this slot is lower paying than it is because you’ll experience many losses due to the limited pay lines. But again, Sizzling Hot Deluxe sees you win more often than with other 5pay line slots.

Game Rules

Sizzling Hot Deluxe has standard rules that follow most slot machines. Here’s a quick overview of what you can expect from this game:

  • All wins are formed from left to right in a pay line, except for scatter symbols.
  • In the case of multiple pay outs in a pay line, only the highest win counts.
  • Scatter wins are added to line wins.
  • Game malfunction voids all pays and plays.

Comparison to Other Novomatic Fruit Slot Machine

As mentioned before, Novomatic has made several fruit themed slots. Here’s a look at how Sizzling Hot Deluxe compares to a couple of the other games.

Fruits ‘N Sevens

Like Sizzling Hot Deluxe, Fruits ‘N Sevens is also a 5 reel, 5 pay line slot machine. You’ll notice that both games’ graphics look similar to each other, with the same muted style being used inFruits ‘N Sevens.

You can tell a difference in Fruits ‘N Sevens’ background, though, since it consists of different shades of blue. This creates a much better atmosphere than what Sizzling Hot Deluxe offers, withits red, blue, and purple colors.

The big downside to Fruits ‘N Sevens is that it doesn’t offer any wild symbols, scatters, or bonuses. The only special feature is the ability to gamble your winnings, which is common in manyNovomatic games.

Sizzling Hot Deluxe at least offers a star scatter symbol that gives you extra credits.

Because Fruits ‘N Sevens has no special features beyond the Gamble Option, we don’t recommend that you try this if you’ve already played Sizzling Hot Deluxe.

Power Stars

Power Stars is a 5 reel, 20 pay line slot machine that features many of the same symbols as Sizzling Hot Deluxe. In fact, the only different symbol between these two games is the bell in PowerStars.

Another difference is that Power Stars’ background features more flare, with faint stars dotting the reels.

Unfortunately, the music and sound effects are just as generic, and you’ll again hear the annoying alarm clock / change dropping sound after winning pay outs.

One more similarity between these games is how winning symbols catch on fire.

The defining characteristic of Power Stars is that the star symbol is a scatter, expanding wild, and re spin symbol.

When you land the star anywhere on the reels, it expands to fill the entire reel and gives you a free spin. You can retrigger re spins if you get more stars on the reels.

We’re not saying that the re spins and expanding wild make Power Stars a must play game. But these features make Power Stars a more exciting slot machine than Sizzling Hot Deluxe.

Conclusion

Sizzling Hot Deluxe serves as an upgrade to the original Sizzling Hot, which looks too much like an old style slot machine. But is Sizzling Hot Deluxe enough of an upgrade to stand out whencompared to other slots?

We don’t see any immediate aspects that will compel you to play Sizzling Hot Deluxe. The background isn’t pretty, the music / sound effects don’t add anything, and the animations don’t match thetheme.

Another problem is that Sizzling Hot Deluxe doesn’t offer many special features, with only a scatter symbol and Gamble option to hold your interest.

Yet one more thing to dislike is the symbols, which have been used in literally thousands of slot machines over the years.

Moving to the good aspects of Sizzling Hot Deluxe, we like the big pay outs offered by the 7, the muted graphics are interesting, and the win frequency is higher than most games.

Regarding the latter, you only have to bet a nickel to play this game, and you’ll earn enough small wins to sustain your bankroll.

Overall, the positive aspects of Sizzling Hot Deluxe aren’t enough to make this a game worth seeking out in land based and online casinos.

But if you have a thing for classic slot machines, then Sizzling Hot Deluxe is worth trying. Just be warned that you won’t want to spend much time on this game, though.
