The Nice List Slots
Released by Realtime Gaming in 2015, the Nice List is a sequel to the Naughty List.
Despite the name, the Nice List is just as racy as its predecessor, featuring two of Santa’s helpers in low cut tops. Besides serving as eye candy for Santa, these ladies award you the game’slargest payouts.
This 5 reel, 50 pay line slot machine also offers detailed bonus features, including one that sees you unwrap presents to earn free spins, extra wilds, and expanding wilds. You’ll also find twoother bonus features in this game as well.
Do these bonuses help make Nice List a big improvement over the Naughty List?
Find out as we cover this game’s pay table, graphics, bonuses, betting options, and compare it to other Realtime Christmas games.
[showSlot id=190]Overview
The Nice List’s background looks like any picturesque holiday setting, with a big Christmas tree on the left, and a fireplace with stockings hung on the right. You’ll also see a cute dog and cat, holly, garland, warm wine, and a snowfall outside.
It all combines to look like a living room scene from a Thomas Kinkade painting. The holiday effect is completed with Christmas tunes playing throughout the game.
The wholesome holiday setting goes out the window, though, when you get to the animations.
In one animation, a woman is holding presents and one of them falls from the stack. She moves to ensure that the present doesn’t fall to the floor, with her breasts shaking in the process.
Another animation seems innocent enough, as a woman gets a puppy for Christmas. But then she jumps up and down in her low cut top while blowing kisses at the puppy.
The last animation shows Santa laughing while holding a sack of presents.
We don’t think that the women animations are so bad that they make this game R rated. But be prepared if you’re expecting a generic Christmas slot.
One more thing worth mentioning is that the Nice List is an All Ways Pays slot, meaning it pays left to right and right to left. This is different from most slots, which only pay from left toright.
The Nice List Pay Table and Graphics
The following payouts and symbols are offered in the Nice List:
Santa Wild
Santa is a grouped wild, meaning he often appears in clusters. He only appears on reels 2, 3, 4, and 5, substituting for all other symbols except the Nice List scatter.
Nice List Scatter
The Nice List multiplies payouts whenever it appears two or more times anywhere on the reels. Your total bet will be multiplied by 1x for 2 symbols, 2x for 3 symbols, 10x for 4 symbols, or 500xor 5 symbols.
Woman Holding Presents
The woman holding a stack of presents offers the biggest regular prizes, paying 300 credits for 5 symbols, 100 for 4, 50 for 3, and 5 for 2.
Women Holding Puppy
The woman holding the puppy awards 250 credits for 5 symbols, 50 credits for 4, 25 for 3, and 5 for 2.
Wine and Milk & Cookies
Although different symbols, the wine and milk and cookies can combine to form winning pay lines. They pay 125 credits for 5 symbols, 30 for 4, and 10 for 3.
A and K
The A and K pay 100 credits for 5 symbols, 15 for 4, and 5 for 3.
Q and J
The Q and J pay 80 credits for 5 symbols, 12 for 4, and 5 for 3.
10 and 9
The 10 and 9 pay 75 credits for 5 symbols, 10 for 4, and 3 for 2.
Symbol Graphics
The symbols in this game are designed to look like old fashioned Christmas cards. Given the angle that Realtime is going for, the graphics look great. We especially like the detail in Santa, theNice List, and the two ladies.
Normally, we wouldn’t like how this game uses letters and numbers to fill out the lower paying symbols. But since Realtime made every letter and number into a different colored holiday card, theydon’t look generic. The A is on a blue card, K is on a red card, Q is purple, J is aqua blue, 10 is orange, and 9 is green.
One character who doesn’t show up on the reels is Ed. Claiming that he’s Santa’s right hand man, Ed offers helpful advice as you look through the help screen and pay table.
The Nice List Bonus Features
The main bonus feature begins when you land 3 or more Nice Lists anywhere on the reels. The lists remain on the reels, and you choose one of them to reveal whether you get the Santa SpinsFeature! or the Nice List Feature! Both bonuses are explained in depth below.
Santa Spins Feature!
If you choose this bonus, you’re awarded 15 free spins, and all wins are doubled. You can retrigger the 15 free spins if you get 3 or more Naughty Lists on the reels.
Nice List Feature!
This bonus starts you out with 10 free spins, and you choose from 20 stockings to add multipliers and wilds.
Available prizes in the stockings include: 2 extra free spins, 2x multiplier, 3x multiplier, extra wilds, and expanding wilds. You continue racking up prizes until two Naughty Notes are revealed.
After the stockings round, the background changes to a snowy North Pole scene. You can retrigger these free spins by getting 3 or more Nice Lists on the reels.
Lucky Feature
Common in other Realtime games, the Lucky Feature is randomly triggered and awards you 5 10 free spins along with a 10x multiplier. The Santa Spins! and Nice List! features can be triggered atany point during the Lucky spins.
Betting Options
The 50 pay lines are fixed, but you can adjust your total bet from $0.50 to $12.50.
The fixed pay lines contrast the Naughty List, where you can adjust pay lines from 1 50. Low rollers won’t like that they have to bet at least $0.50 to play the Nice List.
Auto Play
You can spin the reels automatically with your betting preferences by choosing auto play.
You have a number of options for stopping auto play, including when you reach X number of spins, when your balance decreases by X, when your balance increases by X, when a jackpot is hit, or whenthe bonus is triggered.
Other Options
You can adjust the sound volume by clicking Menu, then choosing Player Options.
Reel speed can be changed by clicking the Speed button in the lower left hand corner. One of the three wine glasses fills up each time you increase the speed another level.
Comparison to other Realtime Christmas Slots
As mentioned before, the Nice List is a sequel to the Naughty List. Realtime also released two similar games called Naughty or Nice! and Naughty or Nice Spring Break.
Below you can see how the Nice List compares to all three games.
The Naughty List
This game has the same style of graphics as the Nice List, but in a different setting. The Naughty List takes place in Santa’s workshop, which features candles, snow globes, a gingerbread house, wreath, snow blowing outside, and pictures of lovely women.
Santa is joined by two helpers in Bridgette, a brunette wearing a skirt and bra, and Rhonda, a redhead wearing green lingerie and riding a reindeer. Other symbols include the North Pole, reindeer, and letters/numbers fashioned into Christmas bulbs.
The Naughty List offers three bonus features, including the Naughty Pick, Santastic Free Spins, and Lucky Feature.
The Naughty Pick is much like the Nice List! feature, except that you’re choosing presents instead of stockings. After revealing two Naughty Notes, you move to the Santastic Free Spins, which is5 free spins with extra Naughty List (scatter) and Santa (wild) symbols added to the reels.
One more perk to this game is that you play for the Minor Jackpot, which can be awarded randomly after any spin.
Taking everything into account, the Naughty List has the same framework and bonuses as the Nice List. If you like the Nice List, then it’s worth playing the sequel to experience a differentsetting, symbols, and music.
Naughty or Nice!
Developed in 2009, Naughty or Nice! is Realtime’s first Christmas themed game.
This 5 reel, 50 pay line slot doesn’t look nearly as good as the Naughty List or Nice List. But Naughty or Nice! still looks decent when compared to the industry.
Although not a prequel to the Naughty List or Nice List, the theme is exactly the same: Santa hanging out with provocative women. The only twist is that Mrs. Claus makes an appearance, and she’sarmed with a rolling pin and angry at Santa.
She could also be angry at the Naughty Girl brunette in green lingerie and Nice Girl blonde in blue lingerie, both of whom dance to rock music whenever they appear in a winning pay line.
Other symbols include a reindeer, wreath, presents, and generic letters/numbers fashioned into Christmas bulbs.
The bonus game is triggered when you get three Naughty or Nice icons anywhere on the reels. This takes you to a second screen where you choose to play as either the Naughty or Nice Girl. Yourchoice dictates which girl will act as held wilds and a multiplier during the free spins.
Just based on graphics, we’d say that the Naughty List and Nice List are better games. But Naughty or Nice! is still worth playing because it presents a much different look than the other twogames.
Naughty or Nice Spring Break
This is the sequel to Naughty or Nice, and it sees Santa leave the North Pole to celebrate spring break with his favorite two helpers.
Naughty or Nice Spring Break’s graphics are superior, and you see new symbols like a lifeguard, mixed drink, and a dolphin holding a bikini top.
The Naughty Girl and Nice Girl are back, trading in their lingerie for skimpy bikinis. Mrs. Claus also finds her way to Florida, sitting in an inner tube and threatening Santa with her rollingpin.
Once again, the ladies dance to rock music when they appear in winning combinations. The only difference is that they’re poolside with mixed drinks in their hands.
Naughty or Nice Spring Break offers 3 bonus features that are very similar to the original game’s bonuses. If you get 3 or more scatter symbols anywhere on the reels, you trigger the bonus, whichsees you choose whether to make the Naughty or Nice Girl wild during your free spins.
If you’ve played Naughty or Nice, the Spring Break edition is roughly the same game. But if sun and fun appeal to you, then this sequel is worth trying.
Conclusion
The Nice List looks like a cliché Christmas slot since it takes in the perfect holiday living room and offers plenty of Christmas tunes.
But this game has an edge to it in the form of two women in revealing tops. And the way that they bounce around during winning combinations further sells the risqué theme.
This aspect may not appeal to everybody, but it sets the Nice List apart from the many generic Christmas themed games out there.
One thing to really like about the Nice List is its multiple bonus features.
When you unlock the Naughty List Feature!, you not only get free spins, but also the chance to upgrade these spins by picking stockings. You get to see a different background too during the freespins.
The other two bonuses are the Santa Spins Feature! and Lucky Feature. The latter randomly occurs and gives you 5 to 10 free spins with a 10x multiplier.
The one downside we see to the Nice List is that low rollers won’t like the $0.50 minimum bet. If you like to bet between one cent and $0.10 per spin, you should play the Naughty List, whichallows you to adjust pay lines.
As long as you’re not put off by the $0.50 minimum wager, the Nice List is a great game no matter if it’s the Christmas season or not.
