Don’t get confused by the title, this game is not about the US president’s favorite reality TV stars. Although, in fact, that might have been a more interesting concept than what we are dealingwith here.

In case you are not familiar with the game, Top Trumps is a card game which has been around forever, whereby you try to win your opponent’s cards based on the numerically selected skills of yourown cards.

So, for example if you were playing real Celebrity Top Trumps you might have a score of 95 for Jeff Bridge’s hair, which would defeat the miserly 27 of a Sean Connery. That’s not how this slotgame works, although Mr Connery is one of the celebs involved here.

The top five high value symbols are all celebrities, and you can choose which 5 you want to use by scrolling through 13 options. These include Hugh Grant, Kate Moss, David Beckham, GeorgeClooney, Liz Hurley and more, and if you get sick of the sight of any of them you can change them at any time.

As the game was released in 2011, they are all looking very fresh-faced indeed. The Wild card has four celeb options, namely Elvis, Madonna, Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp – so chosen due to theirexalted celebrity status, no doubt. Wild subs for all symbols, and five of them gets a 10K payout. The other symbols are playing cards from 10 to A.

There are a couple of bonus games here, one of which is released when the Red Card Bonus symbol shows up anywhere on reels 1 and 5 at the same time. You are taken to a new screen with a wall of16 celebs, with prizes hidden under each famous face.

You get three picks and win the combined total of what is revealed. Sometimes a celeb may win you an Extra Pick as well as a cash prize, so choose carefully.

The other bonus round on offer is unlocked when three or more of the Top Trumps Celebs logo show up anywhere on the reels. This wins you ten free spins, and during these you get to pick any onecelebrity to act as an extra wild. This new celeb wild subs for all except the scatters, and multiplies any wins you get using it by four.

You can retrigger another 10 free games indefinitely if you reveal another three or more of those scatters during the free spin rounds. Like many Playtech games, there is also a Gamble optionavailable here. You simply choose red or black after a win to try and double your money, but of course you risk losing it all and this is not an option we would ever recommend taking.

Top Trumps Celebs is a diverting little game, although that jaunty music gets a bit wearing after a while and looking at those young-looking celebs may make you mourn your lost youth. The bonusfeatures are nicely done, and the game itself is good fun, even if the Top Trump element really doesn’t make much sense here. All told, you will enjoy this for a while, but celebs go out offashion and this game is already looking a little dated as a result.
